Come on Alonso get pole

I find Perez and Sainz a bit zzzz. They're fine, but not in the league of Max/Russell/Lewis etc. Would be nice to see 2 amazing drivers in that red bull so they could take each other on
 
Alonso the only one to win a race starting from 15th position according to commentators.
 
If Alonso takes pole position, would it be the largest gap ever between pole positions? When was his last?
 
Just a silly question. When a car like Max’s needs a mechanical repair, how to they make sure it is running ok? Can they get track time of the the race?
 
That car is just on another level to others.
 
Poor from Alonso. Somehow he manages to mess up Q3 no matter how good his Q1 and 2 are.
 
That car is just too good - I just wish it could be made exciting by having a Leclerc or similar in the second RB so we had racing between the 2

No but you can do multiple to the grid laps by coming into the pits before the race so they can check then and do practice starts. With all the sensors and checks I’m sure they can be fairly certain.
 
Leclerc almost half a second ahead of Sainz who had decent lap himself, just incredible lap but they are nowhere near Red Bull who have car that is out of this world.

Mercedes is slow as feck.

Yep, have to wait for imola where they get updates. One of them alledegly a 0.3 improvement in laptime.

So they will only be 0.7-0.8 behind Redbull :lol: .

I think they should just make the P3 a special prize for this year, we know who will finish P1 and P2.

The fact that AM are ahead shows how poor those two teams are performing, I’m sure they’ll get their act together but it won’t translate to on track this season. Either everyone but RB (9teams) have been extremely crap or they (FIA) failed with their stated goal of making things closer (That's their entire reasoning for this charade of upgrade limitations, limiting replacements and the budget cap. The budget cap being absolutely firm until it's not is another thing...). It's not like these are the first 2 years it's like this either, it's been like that for the best part of a decade.


Credit where it's due though. RB have done well with these new regs and Max is doing the job, he can't do more than win races.

The budget cap doesn’t solve everything, the big teams still hire the best talent like Newey and have better resources. And do you think AM don’t pay more for all the Mercedes parts on their car compared to Merc manufacturing it… That’s the difference between a McLaren running a whole team vs Haas/AT. Also AM use the Merc wind tunnel and have to use the time for recalibration as part of their time. It’s not an even playing field outside the big 3 or 4 teams just yet and it’s why AM are building their own facilities etc.

Merc and McLaren have got it horribly wrong. Ferrari came close but reliability has distracted them. Alpine have been poor for years. AM ‘copied’ RB early and have a solid engine. The rest aren’t in a place to win hence Audi buying AR and and Williams saying it will be a few years or rumours of Porsche/Andretti.

Anyway part of the budget cap was to make the sport sustainable, Williams family had to sell and McLaren have had to get Bahrain investment and sell their old cars etc to stay alive.

As long as we don't ignore the fact that the new regulations are perfectly geared towards the strength of one of the best designers/aerodynamicist/engineers in the paddock, Adrian Newey. And also aimed to reduce Mercedes dominance.

The budget cap does not solve anything. It's just one more rule to find an unfair advantage.

There's no god given right to be a F1 team. Frank Williams is dead and the team haven't done anything in forever. It wouldn't be the end of F1 if it went the way of Brabham, Benetton, Arrows, Minardi, Jordan, Sauber etc. etc.

Sustainability is marketing material. The reason for the budget cap is that they found out they can have a year round marketing campaign that actually pays them money.
