something went on his engine. If it was a normal car I would say it sounded like the driveshaft. What happened to max
Max has been reporting bad down shifts on the radio since the first race. What happened to max
All of my predictions gone out of the window.Well that's fecked my predictions
Come on Alonso get pole
Just a silly question. When a car like Max’s needs a mechanical repair, how to they make sure it is running ok? Can they get track time of the the race?
ThanksNo but you can do multiple to the grid laps by coming into the pits before the race so they can check then and do practice starts. With all the sensors and checks I’m sure they can be fairly certain.
Yep, have to wait for imola where they get updates. One of them alledegly a 0.3 improvement in laptime.Leclerc almost half a second ahead of Sainz who had decent lap himself, just incredible lap but they are nowhere near Red Bull who have car that is out of this world.
Mercedes is slow as feck.
Nah his reactions match his age he’ll drop to 3rd at the startAlonso on the front row tomorrow, the wiley old fox will smell mexican blood.

So they will only be 0.7-0.8 behind Redbull.
Providing redbull don't improve their car at all...Yep, have to wait for imola where they get updates. One of them alledegly a 0.3 improvement in laptime.

Red Bull developing time should be limited, due last season budget breach. So they shouldn't have that much mid season improvements.Providing redbull don't improve their car at all...
Either everyone but RB (9teams) have been extremely crap or they (FIA) failed with their stated goal of making things closer (That's their entire reasoning for this charade of upgrade limitations, limiting replacements and the budget cap. The budget cap being absolutely firm until it's not is another thing...). It's not like these are the first 2 years it's like this either, it's been like that for the best part of a decade.I don’t think you can blame the FIA and rules for Mercedes getting their car wrong two years in a row and Ferrari having engine reliability issues. The fact that AM are ahead shows how poor those two teams are performing, I’m sure they’ll get their act together but it won’t translate to on track this season. McLaren are another who are underperforming.

Credit where it's due though. RB have done well with these new regs and Max is doing the job, he can't do more than win races.
As long as we don't ignore the fact that the new regulations are perfectly geared towards the strength of one of the best designers/aerodynamicist/engineers in the paddock, Adrian Newey. And also aimed to reduce Mercedes dominance.Honestly, we can moan about regulations all day and there is serious question marks over how FIA handle all of that. And debate all day how great Max is. But damn, the engineers at Red Bull should be incredibly, incredibly proud of the cars they’ve put out last year and this year. This year in particular, not only did they start with the fastest car from last year, it feels like they’ve somehow made the biggest stride forward too (with the exception of Aston perhaps, and that only because they’ve nabbed some of RBs engineers). They’ve just executed at a level far beyond any of the other teams. It’s a brilliant achievement.
The budget cap does not solve anything. It's just one more rule to find an unfair advantage. The budget cap doesn’t solve everything, the big teams still hire the best talent like Newey and have better resources. And do you think AM don’t pay more for all the Mercedes parts on their car compared to Merc manufacturing it… That’s the difference between a McLaren running a whole team vs Haas/AT. Also AM use the Merc wind tunnel and have to use the time for recalibration as part of their time. It’s not an even playing field outside the big 3 or 4 teams just yet and it’s why AM are building their own facilities etc.
There's no god given right to be a F1 team. Frank Williams is dead and the team haven't done anything in forever. It wouldn't be the end of F1 if it went the way of Brabham, Benetton, Arrows, Minardi, Jordan, Sauber etc. etc.Merc and McLaren have got it horribly wrong. Ferrari came close but reliability has distracted them. Alpine have been poor for years. AM ‘copied’ RB early and have a solid engine. The rest aren’t in a place to win hence Audi buying AR and and Williams saying it will be a few years or rumours of Porsche/Andretti.
Anyway part of the budget cap was to make the sport sustainable, Williams family had to sell and McLaren have had to get Bahrain investment and sell their old cars etc to stay alive.
I'll believe it when I see it. Been positive news coming out of the Merc camp for years (fastest concept in the sim, etc.) but it's still a shitbox.Sounds like some positive news coming out of Mercedes new approach to the car. Hopefully before summer break we should a faster and much better car from them.
