F1 2022 Season

Abit of fun. The driver ratings for F1 2022 game as decided by new ‘expert panel’ Anthony Davidson, David Croft, and Alex Jacques – all part of Sky Sports or F1’s broadcasting output – have been chosen to help form the ratings.

How can they have Hamilton below Verstappen in racecraft but then have Alvin/Gasly/Alcon/Russel on 90. Daft. The only place Verstappen is better than Hamilton currently is Pace.

So Max has 70s for awareness and experience while Lewis has everything in the 90s but they're both overall 94.

Well let's be honest it's a nonsense stat anyway. Also, these games usually have a number of other stats not on the face card.

Max and Lewis ranked as two highest is the only thing that makes sense.

Heading to Silverstone for the race next weekend, will be camping at woodlands. Anyone done the camping experience, what was it like? Hopefully the weather holds up, raining on Fri but should be dry after that!

max had a short nap at copse last year. might be worth reaching out to him on twitter to find out his experience.

Hopefully F1 do the right thing and ban that cnut from all F1 related events. They've been silent so far though.

Shocking comment by Piquet, there is no place in any sport for any sort of racism.
If Piquet and anything to do with F1 or FIA he should be stripped of it immediately and banned from all events.
Does not matter who it is or if you even like them, this is out of order.

In before someone says neguinho is a term of endearment over there.

That will 100% be the defence

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Neguinho

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neguinho

There's even a futsal player who goes by it.

So we will see this be described as 'a difference in cultures' even though I feel it can only be seen as weird referring to someone by their skin colour when they aren't even present. At least with Cavani, negrito was aimed at his friend (who was also white). This is Piquet talking about Hamilton.

We use it to greet friends. It's not a offensive word in Brazil, but sometimes it can be.
He knew what he was saying, he has been a round for long enough, to know what the ramifications would be.
I guess the way he was using it as well, he was referring to other drivers by name, but only Hamilton by that term.

It’s disgusting. There’s no need for them to write that stuff about how Hamilton is and ambassador for support or deserves respect either. All of the focus should be on how Piquet has been a racist cnut and should be nowhere near the paddock or representing the sport at all in the future. Pathetic statement from F1.

I used to find Lewis's early driving style overly aggressive but now I realise both that and his demeanour was probably a defence mechanism to all the shit he has been through pursuing a career in motor-racing.

F1 is such an ugly sport and Lewis is one of the few good guys.

Mercedes bringing a large amount of updates to Silverstone apparently. New rear wong, new front wing, floor changes etc etc.

Mclaren and Alfa Romeo have both said no more major updates this season for them. They will tey to maximise what they have with their current package.

Horner obviously moaning about the budget cap as alledgedly RB have spent most of their budget allocated for developing the car this season and ferrari still have a way to go to use up all their budget for car development.

I am expecting a good showing from Hamilton and Russell this weekend.
After the last race and they stopped with the experimental part.
Not expecting a win without DNFs in front of them, but a podium would be nice.

Horner moaning is a given, in other news water is wet, Toto is not far behind.

Didn't realise that that sick old cnut is Verstappen's father-in-law. He really doesn't have many good role models around him does he with the likes of Horner, Marko, Piquet, if we're honest even his dad...

Also did Nelson Piquet express his disappointment in his son through the medium of marrying off his daughter to a better driver? Very Trumpy sort of thing to do if so

Neither did I till today.

Piquet was on of the driver I grew up watching, his battles with Senna were epic, but all the respect I had ,has gone.

People might have thought Hamilton's battle on racism was just a PR stunt, but this shows more than anything everything he said was 100% true.

The context he uses it in is the important part. You could argue the word isolated away may not be immediately offensive, but the way he's using it along with blaming Hamilton for the Verstappen crash proves it's not in a positive way.

I never realised you were Brazilian until today - your English is terrific. Out of interest when it's said that Piquet directed homophobic abuse at Senna, was that because of the São Paulo football team "Os Gais" thing to try to wind him up or was it actually him saying it in a sort of directed, personal way? Any idea?

is this a wind up ?

There is still some use of the word in a slang way in Rio, but it's done in an impersonal way and in that context is not even about color. In that case it's doing the job of the word "people" or "guys" maybe. As in "people are dreaming if they think United can win the league this season".

But in the way Piquet used it, referring to a specific person that is black, it's racism.

I know people will say they shouldn't have to say anything but other team like Ferrari are. It's about standing up to racism whoever is involved. Especially when you look the young Red Bull driver situation a week ago and Nelson being linked to Max, a little tweet of support to Lewis wouldn't kill them.
