F1 2022 Season

Feels like the cameras are too close in places.
Any overtaking will be exclusively DRS. Can’t go off the racist line.
James Corden.

Not for me
Cameras too close, too many replays, and missing important action during the race.

It's not only this race, it's been all season so far. It's one of the only sports where a director is so important and at the moment they aren't doing a good job

Did Max not cross the line in time? Or a problem? Would have been damn close otherwise.

This will be a shite race no doubt.

The fecking commentary over the tannoy is so annoying!

Ahh, Max!

Looked like a driver error there I think. Shame. Think he would have had pole otherwise. Oh well, should be a great race nonetheless. Seems like he's really fighting that car, whereas Ferrari looks as smooth as butter.

1-2 baby! Get in!

Thoughts on the track? Yay or nay?

Can't say I like it, every part of the track looks exactly the same from the track side cameras which doesn't help either. On top of that the drivers say there's barely any grip outside the racing line which doesn't sound good at all for the race.

Street tracks don't belong in modern f1 but unfortunately that IS modern f1. We will get more and more it seems.

Merc look to be about a second off the pace still. I expect them to be challenging for best of the rest and pick up any scraps just like previous races.

I would disagree, i like Baku and i love singapore. Both are street tracks. Obviously most famous of them all, monaco has its fans.

The original layout for miami gp looked amazing, but due to complaints from residents it got binned off and we ended up with a makeshift street track in the car park of the miami dolphins stadium.

not a fan of baku it’s just 1 long straight.

singapore certainly is cool being the night race and the track isn’t bad, but not a lot of overtaking there either.

As you say these pop up circuits are never quite what they should be. it’s a cool idea but it’ll never be more than a gimmick.

Let’s hope the race turns out to be half decent but i’m expecting a drab affair.

The rejected tracks couldn’t be anymore American if they tried especially the 2nd one what’s better than one long straight a hairpin turn and a 2nd long straight and then a 3rd straight.

The track layout isn't too bad but they just haven't got the elevation, track surface and width right. With all the knowledge and technology in F1 you have to wonder how they make these mistakes but I guess time is always an issue on these projects.

The concrete barrier issues raised by Sainz and Ocon are interesting. Could be dangerous if fighting tomorrow.

Must go fast.....pee wan.....let's go..... Ferrari masterplan

I am not a fan of this track, shoehorning an F1 track into a carpark of a stadium is never a good idea.
I can see a very scrappy race , with multiple yellow and red flags.
I missed most of qualifying, due to thinking it was a 10pm start.
Mercedes failed to produce what it did the FP1 and 2, thought both would be in the fight in Q3.
Max cocking up his last hot lap, means a bit of work for him to do, could be an interesting first few corners.
SC's and how teams react could be the decider here.

George Russell insisted the inconsistency of the Mercedes "is not making a lot of sense" as he qualified a lowly 12th for the inaugural Miami Grand Prix.

"We are a bit confused to be honest," "My qualifying lap was slower than what I did yesterday in P2.

"The car felt completely different today, we were struggling with porpoising and we just couldn't attack any of the corners.

"It is a real shame because there was the potential in there and yesterday we were quick. It has massively gone away from us today and I don't really know why.

"It has just been a bit inconsistent to be honest.

I think the car clearly has speed, its the porpoising they need to sort out.
Cant be good for any driver to be bounce around they way the are.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff said tweaks made to the car overnight ultimately made it worse, but that "experiments" are helping the team to understand the cause of the porpoising.

"We have seen a performing car yesterday in P2 that was real," he told Sky Sports.

"We were able to put it in a sweet spot and today in P3 we were completely off with the experiments we did.

"It creeped a little bit off but it was still bouncing like a kangaroo, the drivers are not happy with it and you can see that is the reason we are off.

"We definitely have a better handling on what works and the slump today from yesterday helped.

"It is never one thing that is responsible for performance and non-performance but we had a good car yesterday afternoon, then we worsened it.

"Some things we understand, others not."

If only there was a famous race circuit in florida that had a section for indycar and nascar that deviated from the oval. Oh yeah stupid me, of course there is. Daytona.
