F1 2022 Season

Thats probably the bodyweight difference between them both anyway, I wouldn't say this is a big difference.
It's an interesting point and not to one up you because I didn't know I looked it up.
How this works out in real terms is that for each kilogram of extra weight added, lap time will increase by roughly three hundredths of a second, around an average length lap. Likewise, each point of downforce* found in the wind tunnel is worth three hundredths, each point of drag saved worth six hundredths.

https://www.f1technical.net/feature... works out in,drag saved worth six hundredths.

I got it from the net so that might still be wrong.

Lots of close following but not many passes today. Probably not a reg change that can happen anytime soon.

Leclerc and Ferrari looking unstoppable.

Harsh luck for Max with 2 DNFs in 3 races

Albon and Williams get their point. Nicely done.

Apparently lewis was running a heavier car than russell, by 1.5kg. Lewis had addition sensors added to his car as Mercedes look to get insight into the porposing issues.
Yeah I read that. Suggests they still don’t really have a scooby what/how to fix it. It’s quite impressive that they comfortably have the third fastest car on the grid considering the obvious issues it has though in its own way.

Mega from Leclerc today, did everything he needed to. Good to see McLaren getting on top of their problems, and Red Bull must be scratching their head with Max on why they're seeing 2 DNF's from 3 races.

Melbourne, even with the changes, still is a pretty boring circuit sadly.

Apart from the reliability issues, is the RB degrading the tires faster, or it's just Max pushing like a madman?

Starting to look like the Ferrari is going to win the championship with ease at the moment. I'm happy that Max DNF again, but we need someone to actually be challenging for the title, otherwise this season could get very boring quickly.

Good to see McLaren doing much better as well, particularly Riccardo around his home track.

From what I've read it seems the RB is quite hard on its tyres. You could see Perez easily had the pace on both Mercedes but soon as he got past them he had to go into tyre management mode.

Its a car that oversteers at the moment which suits perez but not max driving style. Any sort of oversteering or understeering is going to grain the tyres.

Yes its an old fashioned F1 problem that cant be fixed via CFD or windtunnels but only with track running.

I'd be surprised if his car was actually heavier, rather he didnt have the same 1.5kg of ballast as Russell.

Most of these cars are underweight and weighted down through ballast to bring them up to minimum weight for car + driver. The obvious downside of taking away 1.5kg of ballast and replacing it with 1.5kg of added weight is more than likely moving it higher up in the vehicle thus raising the center of gravity.

I'd say it'd make little difference overrall.

If its oversteering car, its going to cause further movement over the tyre, thus increasing the temperature in the carcass.
Especially if they're continually counteracting slight movements through the wheel. What was noticeable with Max's onboard is that the car is not as smooth as the Ferrari and you see him sawing at the wheel to correct the oversteer sliding at times.

I can't believe I am supporting French driver.

Classic Hamilton being a whiney twat again when everything doesn’t fall into place for him.

Nick, If your name was any different they would hate you here

Yes agreed. Was more interested in the fact they have additional sensors on the car which suggests to me, they are still collecting data and analysing it and not ready to manufacture any new significant parts. Or they wanted to correlate some data?

He's too damn likeable. Which I find suspicious.

He could theoretically be the first world champion since Button who doesn't act like an arse most of the time.
Rosberg was pretty nice as well. But Button was fantastic, Leclerc is beyond likeable.

Welcome to the last 15 years. He hasn’t stopped whinging since he entered the sport which is why people don’t like him.

it get 10x as bad when he’s challenged by his team mates or doesn’t have the quickest car.

What do you have to say to this? Explains what he says and then goes on to say how great the race was for the team. Just chomping at the bit to criticise him aren’t you?

What I meant was Russell probably weights way more than 1.5kg than Hamilton already, so that extra car ballast shouldn't really be a factor.

Russell is quite tall.
Yeah the combined driver and car minimum weight is 795kg which apparently has been a bit of a struggle tp achieve for some teams. I'm sure you are right though.

It may get worse for RB as its rumoured that ferrari have either a new diffuser or floor coming for imola. If they dial out the porposing that car will only get quicker.

Unfortunately for max, sainz is not taking any points off leclerc at moment and i wouldnt be surprised if team orders kick in already. Could be a one horse race to the finish, which is what no one wants this season.
Well with United being my only team to win anything in the last 10 years, I'd take one prancing horse race.

Alonso also facing severe Tyre degradation specially with Mediums. I think teams are still trying to get around Medium tyres.

@mariachi-19 i’m afraid i’ve copied and pasted your hamilton posts into an online racehate-o-meter and you’re coming out in the sweet spot between hitler and stalin.
