Managed to turn what I thought would be a boring race into quite an entertaining one. Top three all drove well.

I honestly thought it was a matter of time before Mercedes and Lewis pushed ahead and win the title quite comfortably.
But its looking like this year we finally have a real title race.
That was awesome.
Shame Max lost out on the win last week, but beating Hamilton today is huge - especially after fecking up the first corner. Massive win

It’s great to see Mercedes under pressure and how they decide in the heat of the moment, waited a long time for this.
I understand it, with the budget cap, if they get next year wrong they could behind for years.
Frustrating as the title is there to be won this year, but the changes have hurt Merc.

RB won that with their strategy. Outmanoeuvred Mercedes at each crucial point of the race. Turned out to be a decent finish to the race at least

I was thinking the opposite: that RB have been better at it for a while, but it wasn't so noticeable because of Mercedes's faster car and Hamilton being great at strategy and tire management himself. I might be wrong though.
All jokes aside, Merc shouldn't get rid of Bottas at the end of the season. They should swap him and Russell tomorrow
Great race that (if we ignore everything Ferrari did..) Sort of a reverse race of Spain looking from a RB-Merc standpoint.
They wanted the full set of feck ups for the weekend.
I think unless Mercedes find 3-4 tenths pace they won’t outdo Max/RB from here. You just know they won’t go all in on Hamilton, Bottas won’t play second fiddle all season and Perez will knick points off Hamilton here and there.

Considering Perez was under investigation maybe they were betting on him getting a five second penalty and Bottas staying in the window?
They haven't been this year imo. They're relying heavily on Hamilton's brilliance. Anybody else in Lewis' seat today and the race would've have been anywhere near as close.
The mercedes bottas relationship is at an end I think after That radio message from bottas. They kept him out purely to protect Lewis. If he'd have had a good in lap on a 2 stop he could have jumped max and won.

At how fast Perez was, there's no way Bottas was within 5 secs of him
That is what Red Bull have found. The number 2 is becoming so significant.
Ended up being 5.8 seconds, I think. So definitely close.
The bigger question is why Bottas is too proud to play no 2 driver. You saw a very different attitude from Perez today.
Bottas has shown year, after year, after year that he isn't capable of challenging Lewis, but still thinks he is far too good to be the no 2 driver in a top team.
He is in for a rude awakening at Williams next year. You'd think he would be glad just to be clinging on to that car

They won’t but Mercedes should drop Bottas for Russell immediately, he’s not going to play ball. If you bring in Russell in a supporting role with the promise of equal footing next season they will profit, the guy is ready.

A couple of weeks ago , I would have said no , wait till the end of the season, but not now, get Russel in for the rest of the season.
That's obviously not true. Take out Lewis and Bottas is third = podium. The gap between him and Norris was massive.
