F1 2021 Season

They clearly took wrong decision cuz they lost. Unless if u think that if the order would be reversed FIA would not take same actions but I won't go into conspiracy theories... Also read my post above. Basically they shouldn't cover for Max on first pit stop and should race their own race and would probably have enough lead to change tires under SC and still be first.
The right call under the rules was to not pit

The right rules if you had known they were gonna break-through rules was to pit

Essentially mercs mistake was not being telepathic

As expected. CAS it is. I’m interested to see what reasons they give for it.

I get that Hamilton got screwed, but what rules /laws were supposedly contrevened?
Some of these football comparisons are ridiculous. Safety cars, red flags and other types of stoppages have been a part of F1 for years, for good reason, and unfortunately they always mean someone loses out. The FIA haven’t been great, I get that but it’s apple and oranges trying to compare football and F1.

Appreciated buddy.
That is insane.

How is someone allowed to get new tyres with 1 lap left!?
With the way safety cars work, and the gaps that Hamilton and Verstappen have been pulling out at the front this season, it was always possible. It was the procedures around ending the safety car that were messed up.

That is all accurate. But this wasn't a typical SC event. Name another race where only a few cars were allowed to unlap themselves.

Sorry struggling to understand from googling, what does unlapping mean with regards to the 5 cars between Lewis and Max, they're allowed to go past the safety car before everyone else while Lewis, Max and everyone else wait behind the safety car?

Yes. That's what it means. Once the mess has been cleaned up, the unlapped cars can start to move past the cars that lapped them and then past the safety car, that gets them out of the way of the cars that are about to race each other. Then when the safety car goes inside, the cars physically at the front of the pack are actually the ones leading the race rather than whichever ones showed up behind the SC first.

Which would’ve been ok if it had been fair. Red flag the race and let them go for the last 5 if you want to create drama. That last lap wasn’t really racing. It was max taking advantage of a wounded Hamilton

Probably, Hamilton had the race won up to that point, it looked done a long way out. They drama didn't unfold how they wanted it too, so they seized an opportunity for a bit more manufactured drama for Netflix.

This leaves a bad taste, it was a total cock up by Masi, he handed Max the WC,
but it is what it it,
Well Done Max, first WC is always the hardest one to win.
It was an incredible season, the season we always wanted.
Lewis will be back next season wanting his WC back and he will be fighting hard, new regs , new cars, hoping it will be another classic season
Horner has been an utter arse this season , Toto not that far behind.

They disregarded their own rules. You're arguing nonsense. You say you want racing, well Hamilton was clearly the better driver today, then say its just bad luck and ignore rules were bent.
ah, but he clearly was not the better driver today.
He had the fastest Car.

They can all do that. The issue is the original decision was different (Max would've had five cars between him and Lewis) and their changed decision was outside the rules (Max has a free shot at Lewis.. on fresh tyres)

It's a rule that you can change tires under a safety car. A stupid rule, but a rule.

What the issue here is he did that whilst the team in front (by 11 seconds no less) didn't and they didn't expect the race director (referee) to change the rules on the spot. Basically he had a choice, let all the cars that were lapped overtake and regain position or not. What he actually did was only allow 5 of them to, which artificially bumped the 2nd place driver not only back up, but in line. On fresh tires.

Now that would be fun and good as a 1-lap shoot out, but obviously that's not what happened as a fair fight as the other driver had tires that were fecked.

Very interested to see the FIA statement. And hear from Toto of course.
