F1 2010

XB360 doesn't support standard control mechanisms. You can buy a G27 and it will work on your PC and the PS3, it will not work on an XB360.

Ah ok. I thought there was some kind of dodgy sets around.

I know it's not a necessity, but the vast majority of people who have reviewed it, have mentioned a steering wheel. Next time an accumulator comes in!

Some bastard cheated in our online qualifying. I was quickest with around 2.06 and then someone somehow got 1.17 :wenger:

Spanish too, unsurprising...

I'm gonna end him 1st corner, it's full damage :D

Came 5th at the season opener at Bahrain. Could have come 3rd or even 2nd but my tires began to wear out and I started to lose grip and spun twice to eventually finish 5th. Happy with that :D

What wheel would you recommend for the PC? Something not too expensive either.

Online is good, only problem is the bell ends who use you as a brake for the corners. Frustrating. The qualifying one i'm liking the most so far.

although the handling is not up to race pro or any of the major pc sims, it is fantastic to get a sim like game on a console and it delivers a great gaming experience so far.

Race pro had too many online bugs to really catch as atari support was non existent, I just hope codies have learned from the abysmal support of operation flashpoint.

Fix the bugs, f1 should be a major franchise in gaming, and this game is a great début.

The official force feedback xbox wheel is pretty good and will work on a pc (if you use both that is).

When comparing it to the DFGT 'similar price' the GT is the one to buy Redlambs. If you want complete cross compatibility on Xbox, PS and PC go with the Fanatech wheels. They're a little bit more but they're a far better wheel then either of the others.

Gutted.

Racing in Spain, I was nicely positioned for a 6th place finish after some very consistent and fast laps, as well as some lovely overtaking. Second to last corner though, I clipped the grass, and spun. I just couldnt get my car facing the right way, and when I did I was hit by someone, (Liuzzi I think), and awarded a 10 second time penalty. I rolled in and eventually came 14th. Objective was 12th, team not impressed with me.

Still beating Trulli though, in every aspect. Gutted though as I hate finishing on a bad race, but I have to go to work now, no time left to claw a few points back!

Yeah, this game is good.

my postman better deliver it today, he normally comes at about 9am but this week has has been coming at 11.45 :(

think ill go out for a fry up at about 9.30 and hopefully it will be here when i get back

Yeah, loving it so far.

Haven't started the career yet, just had a good go racing time trials around Spa/Suzuka to get a feel for it. Also, had a couple of quick races online against my bro (which was smooth as hell).

What I like about it is it's as tough as you want it to be. I've got all braking assists off and medium traction and it's very easy to overshoot a corner or spin off but all the more rewarding for it when you don't.

The engine sounds are spot on. I've got a 5.1 set up and it really shits you up when someone is on right up the back of you. I've panicked many a time in that situation.

The dynamic weather system is very good as well and not just a gimmick. I made an error with my tyre choice in the wet on Spa and couldn't get anywhere near my bro until I pitted in.

Will spend most of the weekend on it and hopefully improve.

Fanatec Gameshop

Well I'll only recommend what I personally know to be good and strong.

Have you tried any of the fanatec ones? I might be interested when I get eventually get GT5, because i'll be playing driving games across all three.

it came just after i got in :)

not sure what to call myself, might go with Rain Man as they dont have my name (Kieron)

I started a career with hispania racing on legendary with full traction and abs and first qualifying went very good, I made it to the second round and finished 17th, my time was with a second and a half better than my teammate's. But then the race..FFS. No matter how good a lap I made I couldn't come even close to my qualifying lap. That's because the car's fuel is on max, right? Right. But then why the feckig feck Bruno fecking Sena and everyone around him were making laps that were a couple of seconds BETTER than their qualifying laps?
Needles to say, I was called in for pit stop first, Sena came after 10 laps, had a comfortable lead and I finished last, 1 lap behind almost everyone.

What is this shit? First I thought I'm with fuel for a full race (100% length) and the others have as much as it's actually required (20 laps, 30% race) but that can't be right, can it?
I can't see options where you can change amount of fuel.

Also, what's with the development squares, can you move some around? I can't do it. This game is so poor when it comes to settings it's ridiculous..

I went with "Rookie". I got called that this year at American Football, although after 7 years it might be ironic. Should have gone with "jon".

Game really sucks you in, I can't wait to get home and play it again.

Development squares only become available when new parts are added I think so you wont see anything in there for a few races. As for pace in the race I have seen no real difference, lap times started a tad slower than quali times and slowly went down as the fuel did.

Unfortunately no as Australia is yet to be a country they sell to 'not for long', but those that I know have them, love them. Expensive, but alot better then the Logitech counterparts and have very little reliability issues.

Logitech seemed to have dropped the ball with their higher end wheels. The G25 was a monster when it came out and is still a very solid bit of kit but the Fanatec wheels have overtaken them. I hoped with the G27 they may move to a more advanced belt driven force feedback like the Fanatec but it appears not. Instead they took the g25, took out one of its greatest features and added a few more buttons.

finished 20th in my first race, kept spinning on the same corner every few laps, the one just before the S bends in bahrain

got black flagged lol causing too many accidents, when all i did was cause 1 small one when coming back onto the track

Cheers, mate. If GT5 is going to be worth getting, I'll look into these.

ffs, 2 laps to go, teams home grand prix, 2nd place just behind Hamilton, span off on first corner causing me to get black flagged for corner cutting, i lost 4 places so how was that corner cutting, also in that race i was held in the pits for 12 seconds after going in in first, bastards

Mine's been delivered, and my wheel set-up is ready to go. I just need it in my bloody hands!

I'm going to whack difficulty up full and take all driver assists off. Deep end, or nothing. I've heard reports that it handles well, but they've given too much leeway especially in the wet, making it a touch too easy. I'll find out within the next few hours I suppose :)

I'm in work till half 6, not home till 7, then the missus has the tv for soaps till 9. Doubt I'll get a go again today. Wake up at 5 tomorrow then..

love it!!

but no commentary? am i missing an option somewhere? i mean its not a big deal at all in fact i dont mind too much but it is a bit of a shock, love the look and feel, love the manual pits

just need to get the pit bug sorted

There is no commentary. Idea being your 'living the life' as the driver reflected in the ad campaign.

No option to bed the pit girls either :(

ah that clears it up, wasnt sure if i was missing something or not in the option menu

Would have been good to have an option for commentary but it's great anyway :D

love it! they have done a good job, parade lap would have been a nice addition, i always liked that in CE but i have no complaints so far. starting a career with lotus

well i have only started it today, first objective is to get above 20th in qualifying

Eh?

Operation Flashpoint was very well supported. The developers, BIS (not Codemasters, they were the publishers) released OFP's final patch in April 2004. Not bad considering the game was released in June 2001. Almost three years....that's fantastic support by any standard!

*Sigh*....They just don't make them like OFP anymore. :(

Finally getting around the track without spinning out (all driving assists off) but I'm still 2 seconds of the pace in my Lotus. The challenge is great untill now and I haven't even raced. I do hate that second sector in Bahrein though.

Well most people appear to be giving this the thumbs up so far.

I haven't bought it because i'm still sceptical on how much replayability factor it will have. I just can't see how i'll still be interested after a couple of seasons so i'm not going to fork out top whack for it. I'll wait for GT.
