Happy to see this. His experience is needed and he should allow Shaw to be eased in.
I hope this isn't because the Shaw deal has failed.
Long live Paddy Evra and all who sail by him when he's out of position.
The Frenchman, whose contract expires this summer, was set to leave after enduring a miserable time under previous manager David Moyes.
Things are said to have come to a head in a bizarre row over bacon sandwiches in a lounge at Manchester Airport before the club jetted out for a Champions League away match.
Staff at the airport are said to have laid on the butties as a goodwill gesture but the Scot was reportedly furious with Evra when he took one.
On the flight the mischievous defender is rumoured to have made a passenger announcement, explaining that there had been a change to the in-flight menu and that it would be bacon sandwiches all round.
Based on what?Just because he's signed a new deal doesn't mean there's no possibility of him moving elsewhere. Yes it's good news that he's extended just in case the Shaw deal goes tits up but it's best taking it with a pinch of salt, I still think Evra wants to move.
I don't get why people think Evra and Shaw in the team is a good idea, and why would Evra ease Shaw into it. Shaw is a young player, he needs games to progress, and he will be expected to start most of them. Evra on the other hand may well be past his peak, but he is still a marvelous athlete, he rarely get's injured, i just looked, he made 40+ appearances a season 7 years in a row. This season he made 45, including 33 in PL. I just don't see how it could work in a way that it would benefit them both. Especially without european football, one of them would surely have very limited time on the field.
What world are you living in? Do you know what a contract being signed means?Just because he's signed a new deal doesn't mean there's no possibility of him moving elsewhere. Good. Bring in Shaw and Evra can show him the ropes.
Probably in the world when United extended Berba's offer in 2012 in order to sell him. We had that option on Evra, so it makes sense to extende his contract. If we can't sing Shawn then at-least we have Evra, otherwise we can keep both of them for one year or sell Evra for a couple of millions or so.What world are you living in? Why do you lot assume we're getting Shaw? I think the fact that we haven't heard of him since the bid over two weeks ago speaks volumes.
Was that what happened? Signed to extend in order to sell him- the whole purpose of signing?! You're not understanding it quite right mate!Probably in the world when United extended Berba's offer in 2012 in order to sell him. Evra is 33. How much do you think an extra year is going to add to his worth?Probably in the world when United extended Berba's offer in 2012 in order to sell him. Yep. We had the option of extending Berba's contract (we usually have this option on most of the players like X + 1 contract, the player can't refuse the extension) and then sold him a few weeks later for 4-5m.Was that what happened?
