Evra extends contract

Great news, i thought he was heading towards Italy. Not surprised LvG wants him around.

Absolutely ecstatic. Yes he may be past it, yes he has been a liability at times, but it could have been disastrous to lose all three of the 2008 winners in one go. Also, personality-wise, from what I can see, he is a top guy.

I think he will be better too next season, if we get in a LB, as he won't be forced to play a million games.

Good news. I would've missed the mad bastard. Can still play his part as long as he doesn't have to play 50 games.

Delighted he will stay on. Rio and Vidic already experienced losses at the back. Evra is a character and clearly loves it here. Once he doesnt play every single game of course.

Excellent. This will allow Shaw to take settle in slowly and not be rushed into the first team. Hopefully Evra can pass on his experience. I assume this means Buttner is off.

I think that's a good decision. It silly to throw away all that playing experience, Evra has had some form issues but he's also lacked both serious competition and a reliable competition to allow him to rest for a number of years. If Shaw is coming, or another left back it will be good for both of them to have competition and us to have reliable cover in a key area of the team.

This. Hopefully with a rest he can contribute more. We said the same after Buttner was brought in, but due to unforeseen shitness he was asked to play 50 games again.

As long as this doesn't effect the Shaw deal I think it's a great move.

With Giggs becoming a full time coach Evra is the natural choice to remain and become a leader in the dressing room. He will also be a good influence on the younger players. Losing Rio, Vidic and Giggs in one summer has really decreased the number of leaders in the dressing room. I think Evra will be crucial in that sense.

I hope this isn't because the Shaw deal has failed.

Evra triggered the 1 year extension clause offer (played a certain amount of games last season). So it has nothing to do with any deals going to or not going to happen.

Excellent news.

We need some experience in that defense, even if it's mostly coming from the bench/training ground.

I don't know really, i am happy, but what does it mean for our new LB? I don't think having both Evra and Shaw is sustainable really. Neither of them is suited for a "cover", especially without LG matches.

Excellent news, assuming it has no bearing on bringing in Shaw.

This feels a bit like a new signing, really happy with it. One of my favourite players and I felt like he was definitely leaving as long as moyes was here. He's a united legend IMO and still a good player, and won't be overplayed anymore because of no European football even if we don't get shaw.

Lovely - I just hope he can adjust to playing less, which is what he should be doing. But I'm delighted he stays on.

Great news, we need some experience in defence now when Vidic and Rio are gone.
But no way he should still be a first option on RB. We need Shaw

This will be one of our more important signings this year. To lose all our experience in one summer would have been tough. We still need cover and support at Left Back so Evra has competition and can get rests. This could prolong his career to no end if we get a good LB in.

Excellent news, one of my favourite players at the club and possibly of all time. He still has one or two seasons left in him, just as long as we're rotating him.

Fantastic news, the perfect scenario, losing him would have been a disaster

Brilliant stuff!!

Seriously, great news.
