Martial is ineffective out wide. Not playing badly or anything, just ineffective. The least we should do, provided Van Gaal doesn't want to sub Rooney, is switch their positions. Rooney can't get worse in possession and he's good at tracking back while Martial in the middle would imrpove us.

Rooney holds up the ball, lays it off to BFS, shortly after we score. The most important control and pass to retain possession of the entire build up and how many people commented on that? Two, myself and one other person.

We've limited Everton to a few scrappy chances. Good stuff so far.

Can't help but feel we're curtailing Martial by playing him out wide to accommodate Rooney, who, aside from a decent opening 10 mins and the occasional touch has been pretty poor once again.

Jones, Rojo, Schweini and Herrera excellent.
Martial, Darmian, Mata and De Gea have been good.
Rooney started well but has been conservative and sloppy for the last 20 minutes.
