Martial looked to be limping a bit at the end of the half. Hopefully it's nothing.

Great half though. Completely dominant for the opening 30, scored twice, then the Jones nose bleed gave them a bit of impetus and we've looked content to sit back and counter. Could've been 3 really. This is definitely the lineup that we need to use for big games though. Maybe rotate Rooney and Martial for up front and left wing, but those players (at least midfield and attack) are our best options by far.

Rooney's set up for Martial was great, but he has been poor other than that.
Would love it if we brought on Lingard or Andreas for him.. not gonna happen though

Excellent first half, could have been out of sight by now. Hopefully only being 2 up will mean we start the second half well instead of slacking off. Herrera has been a breath of fresh air, Rojo has been decent and once again Smalling has been sensational when called upon. Lukaku hasn't had a kick so far.

Passing masterclass so far from us. Best 1st half I've seen at goodison park in years. We have controlled this match completely. Two well taken goals and everton's midfield look dazed and confused as they take a ride on the "passing carousel" that is Schweinsteiger, Mata and Herrera.

Have to say that Rooney has looked subdued and poor. A lot of passes misplaced and moves break down. Although he did get better towards the end of the first half when he set up Martial. Anthony doesn't look as dangerous on the wings. You wonder how much more dynamic we would be if we put Martial up top, took off Rooney and put in someone like Depay/Valencia/Young?

Chris Smalling has been an absolute rock too. Phil Jones and him are creating an excellent partnership. Years of watching lennon torment evra seems to have ended :lol:

Rojo has done a good job limiting him. Hopefully we kill off the match in the 2nd half.

We are not dilly dallying on the ball and actually trying to get forward with drive and purpose.

Yes. Should we also be praising whoever it was who came for the short corner as instrumental? Or count BFS just as instrumental? You're overhyping his contribution to the goal. On the other hand, he's misplaced quite a few passes and broke down a couple of promising attacks.

Mata, Martial and Herrera having free roles is good to watch. This partnership of Bastian and Morgan really looks great. Defence is solid with Smalling and Jones. Darmain and Rojo look to have sorted the full back positions. This should be our back four until Shaw returns.

Good half. We started quick, which killed us at Arsenal. Good to see us put that right. A proper 3 man midfield as well, with 3 technically proficient ball players. It's causing them problems, and they can't get near the ball when we have it.

Martial's work rate has been really impressive. He gets right back to help Rojo, then he's always on the move when we get the ball back. Made some good tackles and looks really strong.

Rooney was decent for the first 20 minutes, but then he started playing very good passes to Everton players. Good run and pull back for Martial though. 3-0 would have killed it.

Rojo's cross for Herrera was inch perfect. What a ball.

Best we've been all season. We've been brilliant, and a massive part of that is down to Herrera, in my opinion. How the guy doesn't start every game is beyond me. Truly fantastic!

Other than that, our tempo has been quicker, look quick on the counter, keeping it well, creating chances - the lot.

Don't really want to get on the bandwagon but the only reason Rooney starts now is because he's the captain. Where's the harm in trying someone else in the #10 role ... Good team performance anyway though, good football.

It isn't over hyping. He was fed the ball with a difficult, high pass if I recall correctly, in a crowd. It was the most dangerous pass of the build up and Rooney controlled it and played it out to keep the move going. That's not the same as someone having a touch in the open.

Martial is fast and good in the air and will cause problems for the Everton center-backs..
