Ever Banega

The only issue is that he is a little immobile compared to the smaller players. Wonderful composure though.

Did Banega play against Albania last night? Is he in the Copa America squad?

Yes and yes. He'll start next to Mascherano and Cambiasso in midfield

There's a new video someone made of Banega and the description from the poster :

"The FC Valencia midfielder has been called to be the ally of Messi in the national team of Argentina in the "Copa América". With great vision and timing, and with amazing abilities for making assist and passes, the 22 year old Argentine has demostrated he has what it takes to make a great team with the best player of the world.

I believe the greyed out area is to draw a box around and highlight banega in each clip

What are you on about? what on Earth does "exceptions rather than the norm" have to do with this

You called it a "quiet summer" and yet it's June 22nd and we've already sorted 3 players.

Yes, isn't that a quiet summer? I.e not much hassling and sagas dragging on. Perhaps I wasn't not clear enough.

Do you rate him higher than Pastore Ekeke? From his youtube videos, obviously he looks like a world beater as youtube videos are prone to exemplifying players - I can't even remember him from our game against Valencia earlier this season and have on the whole seen very little of him during a full 90 minutes.

The problem is, there hasn't been a single shred of linkage to United.

Seems to me the type to want a Barca or Madrid switch if he was to move.

Definitely not if that's what you meant by it.

Normally a "quiet summer" would be a summer where we don't really buy anyone. For example, last summer was a quiet summer with only the Bebe deal being done during the summer break.

Do you rate him higher than Pastore Ekeke?

Yes, always did. But I've only seen Pastore 5 or 6 times and few of those for Palermo whereas I know exactly what Banega is capable of watching him every week for years. So maybe its not completely fair

This is why I usually post up individual highlight videos of him. A couple of youtube posters make these videos of every involvement of a player over the course of a game and both the ones I know of do the majority of Banega's matches. However they post so many videos and eventually some of the older ones are no longer available which is a shame because I can remember some great videos of him against Madrid and Barcelona from the season before last but I can no longer find them to post them. But there are videos from this past season which I think I posted up earlier in the thread. Again, same with his performance against United last season. There was a video of that - although Anderson performed better than him or any other midfielder on the day, he still had his moments and the video showed it. But for some reason these videos dont seem to last long whether its a copyright claim or something I dont know

The problem is, there hasn't been a single shred of linkage to United.

Yep, not one link. And yeah I figured he'd end up at Madrid next to Alonso but they signed Sahin. And I felt maybe Barcelona would take him when they couldnt get Fabregas last season... But its not like they actually need a midfielder. They just want Fabregas because he is Fabregas

So at this point I dont see either being in for him. The main interest comes from Italy

Sounds like anothe FMer's wancfest. No thanks. Clips remind me of Riquelme. Lot's of flashy moves with no real substance. Would never be suited to United. Cold day at Stoke? Having a laugh aren't yas?

I've watched Pastore quite a lot, I definitely feel he's the type who drifts in and out of games but the talent at his feet is remarkable and he will develop into an exceptional player, but like you I can't compare with Banega because I haven't seen enough of him!

Yeah, usually the big leagues tend to place copywright claims on the videos quite quickly, especially because teams like Valencia/Barca etc attract lots of views. Anderson was amazing that game, one of his best in a United shirt.

Barcelona want Fabregas because they see him as the replacement for Xavi, plus he came from the academy and as we know Barca have tremedous faith in their academy players.

It's strange there hasn't been a link however, for the reasons you mention, now would seem to be the perfect time to sneak a player like Banega from under Barca and Reals noses - surely Real won't buy another midfielder, surely Barca can't afford him, Sanchez and Fabregas.

Only real competition would be City and I'm confident players still see the value of prestige and success over marginal monetary gains. Some of them atleast.

He's always been shite in FM, or at least when I gave it the time of day a few years ago he was. Didnt even make it at Valencia

He's good in the last two versions. When his game picked up in real life, FM noticed.

Banega.jpg

Found this on a google search, 7 league apps at 25  Shite might have been an overstatement but clearly not as good in the game as in real life. Might have something to do with low positioning and tackling stats, two things he's quite good at in real life. Not sure I can comment on the influence stat as I'm not sure how that one works in the game.

What I can say is he's a very influencial player for his team on the pitch and captained the Argentina under 21s. So if that stat is meant to represent those things, they were clueless about that too

Well I think I've always been quite terrible at the game so if you say so ;).

I normally base whether a player is over or underrated in the game on how they progress if I dont manage them and the cpu develops them. He's never become very good in those circumstances

I've seen both, basically you see Pastore in advance area's so its really hard to compare as Banega plays a lot deeper and gets involved a lot more... Its like comparing a box to box CM player against an all rounded play maker, no real sense in comparing them but Banega "should" suit a 4-4-2 much better than Pastore ( Which hasn't played there much )

Yeah, usually the big leagues tend to place copywright claims on the videos quite quickly, especially because teams like Valencia/Barca etc attract lots of views. Anderson was amazing that game, one of his best in a United shirt.

The problem is, Pastore vs. the biggest teams wouldn't get noticed as much as Banega as Banega will be a lot more invovled defensively... Youtube vids are youtube, you watch a player you watch them play 90 minutes and judge ( Unless he is an unheard target like Hernandez ).

Barcelona want Fabregas because they see him as the replacement for Xavi, plus he came from the academy and as we know Barca have tremedous faith in their academy players.

Let them have cesc, Thiago could even become a better player.... But hey Barca can splash money all they like.

Like Ekeke said, even a top class DM like Mascherano is being benched or playing CB... Busquets is their No.1 player and I don't see why they need to replace him with Banega ( Mind you Banega would be wasted just protecting the back four )... And if they sign Banega for Xavi... I'd be surprised...

Barca have a limited budget even with what they won... They aren't looking for a new election etc... So we'll see more Barca involvement once they get rid of a player ( Bojan/Jeffren ) or maybe even Afellay for the sake of it.

With Mancini there, they'll probably be linked with as many CM's as they can... Also Viera's contract has finished too so they definitely are in for a CM... Hopefully not Banega.

Thats just for that season, 1t's only Nov 12th, how many league games would Valencia have played by then? :D

It's essentially a "captaincy" stat.

in bold, requisite of an United player.

Was that a joke? Have you actually watched him play?

You mean have I watched the 1.40 minute youtube clips like you? Some of them.

Any players looks fantastic when you condense their best moments into a short clip with techno music.

Excellent find. I'm real tired of that FM reference whenever someone talks of a talented foreign player.

Hardly a "find". He plays for one the top teams in the the best league in the world and for Argentina.

He's just another redcafe transfer muppets Argentinian flavour of the month as was Riquelme, D'Allesandro, Ortega, Aimar etc that wouldn't be suited to United or the premiership.

There's no way he'd even be on Fergie's radar. Been down that road before. Surprised how easily people forget the Veron debacle.

Let's start focussing our attention on more realistic targets eh?

Every Argentine player isn't the same but who exactly is it you see as realisitc?

I don't see why this guy wouldn't be realistic. No big club seems to be in for him. And you should never base your signings over nationalities unless you're struggling to meet some squad requirements. Is every Argentinean the same? If a Messi was offered to us for a poultry sum we should refuse because Veron failed?

On FM he's one of those weird players who doesn't get played unless you play him btw....like Wilshere, unless he's played by your just randomly seems to become a journeyman type player or second string at Arsenal.

If you play either Wilshere or Banega(since 06) regularly, they become ridiculously good.

I'm just highlighting the fact that there's been continued ******** over Argentine players on this forum for years in spite of the fact we've never been in for them.

I don't see your point?

Veron was no failure. He was a very good playmaker who happens to arrive when we had our best midfield ever. Wouldn't it be for his high fee and that we had Scholes at his peak at that time he would be perfect for us.

Heinze and Tevez are cnuts of highest orders but both where great players. They both left as Judas but there was no questions about there ability.

Everybody and his dog knows that we are short of quality MF. Banega is one of the best around outside the top top teams. He has everything we need and he's entering his peak. If we can get him for a fee in region of £25m it's a steal. Sooner or later some big club will come in because he's quickly arise as one of the best playmakers bar the Barca boys. And the best thing is that he is probably for sale.

Give me one reason why we wouldn't be interested.

So it was my imagination that he used to pass to invisible players and just look totally so out of depth with the pace of the game in England? Both at United and at Chelsea?

Keep on reinventing history, it's quite amusing.

Is this the conclusion you came to after watching 3 or 4 youtube clips?

Don't compare me with you.

I understand that it's difficult for you to judge a talent on YouTube but wait until you start earning some money. Canal Plus and Viasat (in my country) sends football from all around the world, including La Liga. Well worth the money, especially in HD.

Give me one reason why we wouldn't be interested.

1. Fergie has never preferred "Play making" style midfielders that sit in the hole in front of the other midfielders. , he'd rather the box to box type in the mould of Keane, Robson, Fletcher, Butt and Scholes. Scholes being the only exception when he turned into what the pundits have dubbed the quarterback style player maker in his latter years.

2. Possibly wouldn't be suited to the pace/style of the game.

3. Our track record with Argentine players is shocking. They're either shit for us, or they become hated.

4. The new UEFA rule which sees clubs preferring home based talent.

5. There's no sources of any repute linking us to him.

6. Britinnia Stadium, Rory de lap, dead of winter.

That means that the lost of Scholes, Hargreaves and Gibson doesn't matter. Cleverly will solve it all. Good luck to him.

Scholes has been a bit part for years, Hargreaves hasn't played for about three years and Gibson was second string. Losing those three suddenly doesn't make our midfield shit.

I don't think you've watched any Valencia games thiother than when they've player Real Madrid or Barcelona.

That's my hunch. You're basing your opinion mostly on youtube clips and other fanboiisms from this thread.

What the feck does High Definition have to do with anything:confused:

Viasat Riga?? I configured their sports channel. Its had so many problems

Nice little chat...

Short of quality MF and "shit" are not the same. Ask your teacher next time and he will explain.

Sorry ..couldn't resist the last one.

Our midfield is just not very strong or up there with the best. Now with a few midfielders even leaving - even if they were not guaranteed starters - it makes our midfield weaker
