Actually Nostradamus
"The boys" won't be long changing their tune when they get a slice of the money pie.
Feck off. To the woman in the clip and her excitement.
The ESL is to replace the Champions League. It's a break-away league by the top teams.
I the ESL happens, and next year we're all watching the European Super League with it's 20 teams, or 30 teams, or 40 teams.. however many are involved.. if it's the premier European football competition then both old and new titles we definitely count.
Would have probably happened in the PL at some point anyway IMO.People are deluded if they don't feel this exposes United to potentially playing "home" games abroad just like the NFL. To potentially moving stadiums, being renamed etc at some point down the line. History, local fans, mean nothing, absolutely nothing to the owners, they're just barriers to more income.
Oh thank you, I don't remember asking you?
ExactlyWould have probably happened in the PL at some point anyway IMO.
Apparently UEFA are consulting their legal team so will know more by fridayFrom this year, they can't. Because those 5 clubs which are involved brought money to Uefa. Through sponsors and tv rights. Uefa must transfer part of that money to them.
On paper, they did not do anything wrong regarding this year's competition. But i am not lawyer so...
You cheeky buggerArsenal and Spurs probably tried to veto this
Feck off. To the woman in the clip and her excitement.
They tried that with the Game 39 bullshit and it was shot down very quicklyWould have probably happened in the PL at some point anyway IMO.
Money always talks but this seems a hot fecking mess to touch right now. Its quite interesting that no other club has come forward as one of the next 3 clubs. I mean maybe they can get Zenit or Gent. But then whats fecking super about that when you already have crap like the NL clubs already in itI've been wondering this. There's a lot of teams needed to be added, and after all this uproar, which clubs will be happy to join the party now? Or will money do the talking.
The Champions League will still exist though in this instance. This move just devalues it more.
I can see them selling naming rights for the stadium now. They have shown the fans no respect so why bother about any uproar over that.People are deluded if they don't feel this exposes United to potentially playing "home" games abroad just like the NFL. To potentially moving stadiums, being renamed etc at some point down the line. History, local fans, mean nothing, absolutely nothing to the owners, they're just barriers to more income.
You've been clear on the importance of letting people have their opinions. Someone shared their opinion about you, that's a good thing. Let people have their opinions about your opinions.
I think it would have happened at some point though. They tried that with the Game 39 bullshit and it was shot down very quickly
On this point, the American sports work in a closed shop environment because colleges are HUGE business and keep up the regular supply of top quality sportsmen ready to take the step into the NFL, NBL etc.
Where do the next generation of footballers come from? Right now, kids play on parks then go to a local junior club then maybe a county team then get spotted by scouts but there are 92 clubs (and non league) to take them in.. they don't all go straight to United or Madrid, plenty take a circuitous route. Without the pyramid (the equivalent breeding ground to US college system), it's done?
Calm down people. Football sold its soul a long time ago.
This is a negotiation and will end up in a newly reformatted Champions League.
I would guess Americans love it. They're the target audience after all, along with the Chinese, Indians et al who couldn't care less about domestic leagues and just want to see big names extravaganza every week.
I also like American sports, I watch NFL and NBA semiregularly. But I don't love them quite like football and some of it has to do with the way the competitions are organised. Closed competitions always seem so volatile to me, there's no real continuity.
Also all levels of sports in the US are based on and support their prevailing franchise system, whereas here in europe, they absolutely are not. NFL is the only real professional league there, here there are hundreds.
It would be the same if the NFL decided to adopt a European league format from next season onward, while College and below would go on as before. It would cause the same uproar.
CL was arranged by UEFA, the same as the European Cup. They do changed a lot of thing over the year, but they don't just give a club a guaranteed spot regardless.
This ESL is completely different. Why counting UEFA's trophies?
Wonder if Arsenal asked if they can include their Emirates Cup trophysArsenal and Spurs with their runner-up medals...
Yeah I'm really sure the lawyers for the 12 biggest clubs in the world didn't miss this.
You don't like this? I think it's a great idea and have wanted it for a while. This is a wind up, right?
Will they wear stripey shirts? Will they throw these cute flags on the pitch too ? Also, how long the commercial break after a field goal?
I believe that they are recognised as world champions, historically, for those Olympic gold medals, and so they should. However, you don't see England branding those Olympic championships as World Cups (or even worse, "FIFA World Cups"). Their old Olympic accomplishments are appropriately recognised separately from their FIFA accomplishments (if only the FIFA didn't gloss over/ignore the old Olympic tournaments...).England (and Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales) should definitely have a 2nd "World Championship" title for wining those Olympics...
No wonder Levy sacked Mourinho right after they join ESL, or Mourinho wouldn't hold back reminding them of their heritageTo give it history and heritage
