The United of old would absolutely blast through this competition. It’s an indictment of where we are as a club that we are fearful of a team who are 11th in La Liga. It could be our last European tie for a long time.

Sounds better to me. I would rather have Bilbao in a 2 legged game and then play Lazio/Spurs in the final at a neutral venue than make it all the way to the final and then face Bilbao at their stadium….

To get past Sociedad-Lyon-Athletic and then likely face Lazio in final...yeah not happening for us. We'd have to play out of our skins for 5 of those 6 legs and quite frankly this team isn't capable of doing it once!

Lazio would beat us anyway
We’ve been pretty decent in Europe to be fair. Only Sociedad scare me because we’re prone to conceding first and Spanish sides have been excellent against us when ahead and they need to slow the game and kill it off.

Spanish side have won this competition 12 of the last 20 times and United draw the two Spanish sides left in the competition on their side of the draw. As for judging a side League placings, Villarreal finished 7th in La Liga the season they beat United to win the Europa League.

Before the injuries to Amad and Martinez I actually felt quietly confident we'd win the Europa. Now it feels like we are relying heavily on some magic from Bruno!

They're even less capable of scoring goals then we are. 20 league goals all season. They're closer to the relegation zone points wise than we are, and they've lost four of their last five league games. Hardly a terrifying proposition is it? Both teams look pretty similar yet people are acting like we've run into some invicible foe.
