EU Referendum Results Thread | Leave have won, Cameron resigns

How did you vote to this: Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the EU or leave the EU?

  • Remain a member of the European Union

    Votes: 321 75.5%
  • Leave the European Union

    Votes: 80 18.8%
  • Spoiled ballot

    Votes: 24 5.6%

  • Total voters
    425
  • Poll closed .
Cities like Bradford, Birmingham and Luton who have a lot of Asians have voted to leave.

Very surprising. It's nothing to do with racism.

Yep exactly. Yet people here seems to skim over that.

Some of the pro remains on here are turning into parodies of themselves with such misinformed ignorant statements

Very surprising. It's nothing to do with racism.

In 2014 45% of UKIP voters agreed with the statement that "Immigrants and their children, even if born in this country, should be encouraged to leave". 25% of the entire population.

But yes, nothing to do with xenophobia/racism.

I understand that if you are pro-Leave it must be annoying to be called a racist at every turn, but…

1. You need to own the fact that your victory is founded upon significant anti-immigration prejudice in working class areas

2. Take a look at human history. People are tribalistic. People blame the "other". I assume when you look at Trumpism you do see racism. It is a similar factor here.

I wonder how many people will lie "oh no I voted remain..." Over the next few years.

Uk has just inspired every far right wing group in Europe to advance it's agenda with legitimacy.

The fact that that's what you got from what I said does represent your lack of intelligence. The point I was trying to make is that not everyone who is voting league is uneducated. Not that being uneducated neccesarily makes you less intelligent in Politics anyway.

It does, really. Leave voters voting on economic grounds I can sort of understand. Well, I can't, but at least they're not voting "coz we won two world fecking wars like."

This referendum has been a litmus test for imbecility, and it's fair to say we have lots of them in the UK.

Why are people in north voting to be attacked by Boris Johnson?

Whether leave voters are racist or not, they will have to accept burden that they have just given the far right a platform not seen since the days of Hitler.

Poor Scotland. Voted to remain within UK and now voted to remain with EU, just in time to find the Birmingham's and Wales' voting to ensure they are out of EU

Take that JK Rowling, with your 'Let's vote to remain in the UK/EU'.

Asians aren't the target. It's Eastern Europeans. Luton for example is full of them.

I can't prove it nor can I really justify it but deep down my gut knows that prejudice against people from these countries is what has caused immigration to be so significant.

It's disgusting IMO.

Looks like it will be EU referendums all across Europe over next few months.

This is how a major world war starts

The Caf is a bizarre place. So apparently the whole of the UK is racist. Some of the rubbish being posted here is a complete embarrassment.

Maybe, but I consider it just as likely that we'll see a smaller, federated EU in the not-so-distant future.

I never expected the UK to actually go through with it. And with the help of Northern England, at that.

I'm right in thinking that there's now a chance we could be talking about a border between the Republic of Ireland and Norton Ireland in the near future ?

I'm sure that will go down just fine. Fecking hell.

Explain the leave reasoning in a non racist, non ill informed way then if you would.

Tell me why we shouldn't worry about the incoming job losses and companies moving to elsewhere. Put me at ease as you seem to be really clued in.

Well no. Why would either country agree to it?

Go to bed.

You're just being dramatic with no substance to what you're actually saying. It's ironic

I'd like to debate this sensibly and fully with you.

But I've been up all night and now feeling a bit nutty.

But pls let's pick this up in next days. I'll tag you :)

Can't help but think the majority of the electorate is thick as pig shit, with absolutely no idea of the implications a decision like this has. What the feck have we got ourselves into?

Sinn Fein has announced it will be asking for a unification referendum, so it could be quite the opposite.

So now the betting starts of when the UK dissolves

Considering the entirety of Scotland voted to remain, I think it's safe to say that this will lead to another independence referendum for Scotland. No idea what that means for Wales and Northern Ireland, though. I guess it depends on how much they really want to stay in the EU.

Kinell, Mid Sussex voted to remain. Think it's the first time I've ever voted the same as my area.

Lots of jobs in Belfast and elsewhere depend on the EU. This is massive here make no mistake.

What utter nonsense

It's nonsense, yes. But the far right in the UK now have a platform bigger than any period in recent history.

We'll see a general strike in the next five years. Public sector taking a stand, having been decimated by the most brutal regime the UK has seen since wartime.

I'm not really clued in. I was for staying by the way before anyone pipes up.

What I have said though is no one knows what will really happen if we leave. You can either be scared by this and run around trying to whip everyone into a frenzy or you can be curious/excited and see what happens. Either way the effects won't actually be seen for sometime but I doubt they will be noticed by the average person in day to day life.

Tell that to North Korea, in fact by the sounds of it a lot of current caftards would prefer to be living in a communist state.
Just want to live somewhere the elected members of state do their jobs.
