ETH Out Thread

I don't understand how so many of you who changed your mind about wanting him gone after we beat a drunk Man City team, are now once again asking for him to be sacked so quickly? Everyone that asked for us to keep him should sit back and relax. This is what you deserve.
That’s so moronic. None of the fans have any say in the decisions and we’re all in the dark as to what happens behind the scenes at the club. People should be allowed to change opinion and fans should stick together even if they disagree

The red card was harsh and any team can get caught cold at the start of a half, we were unlucky it happened twice today. For large part of the second half we looked the better side with just 10 men. The players are still fighting for him, they just didn't get the rub of the green today.

To let him stay during the summer and then allowed to sign 2 former players and another Dutch player on top. INEOS are just as clueless as the Glazers. Should have been sacked and fresh ideas brought in, where the club supply the signings to a coach.

We now have a horrendously bad team and because of FFP have no way of sorting it out fast. What a mess that has been created once again.

At the very least sack the manager and get one in that can create a press and ball retention. Put players in the correct position, take the captaincy off Bruno. Stop playing Rashford and Bruno. Only then might we able to salvage the season.
Yes, and I don’t think the team ought to be that bad at all. A competent manager would get them to understand how to play a certain style of football and gradually improve from here. I thought ETH was that guy at first, but clearly he’s not.

The first half even before the red card were a complete mess, one of the worst I’ve ever seen in all honesty. Like the basics of football wasn’t there we genuinely looked like a semi pro team it was an embarrassment to top flight PL football your take is absolutely mental

Yeah, this is the big one. It was one thing to keep him on as a sort of placeholder while we waited for whichever replacement we want. But to allow him another round of mediocre ETH signings we’ll inevitably want to replace within a few years was simply criminal.

After what we all thought was a brilliant transfer window, 6 games in we are in 12 place, 4 points above relegation zone, 6 points behind top 4 and a goal difference of -3.

5 transfer windows and we do not have a top class striker, shameful for a club of our size.

The process is clearly not on an upward trajectory and there are not the excuses from last year about all the injuries.

Schooled at home by the dippers already and today we made Spurs look like a Champions League side, its time to pull the plug on ETH.

He seems a nice guy, wish him all the best, but in the best interests of United we need an immediate change.
I wasn’t convinced to be honest. And I saw plenty of people rating the summer window for incomings as 6/10.
We signed a squad striker. A midfielder who is at his best without the ball, at the last minute. A centre back who is a marginal upgrade on Varane when fit, and a right back who is a marginal upgrade on Dalot, but Dalot had been playing well at right back.
Also, a young centre back with lots of potential but is unproven.
We still have to improve on recruitment.

You have a massive Gareth Southgate “three year plan” sized hole in your hindsight. It’s still there too, and I wouldn’t put it past Ashworth and Ratcliffe to think they’re pulling some 4d chess move giving him a go. We’re still in dangerous territory sacking ten Hag now.

We’re now in that phase where is only being kept because it’s expensive to sack him and people are reluctant to admit they made a terrible mistake in not sacking him earlier.

There is no progress, absolutely no hope of any success any idea that he is even close to being the right man for the job is now comical. As fans we are just wasting our time pretending otherwise and watching another season go down the drain.

Found a flip-flop. Yes actually, collectively enough of you changed your minds on social media and signed idiotic petitions to keep him. Fan opinion does have an effect. So enjoy.

You just enjoy going after people huh? And fyi I’ve not been calling for him to stay, I just think your take is stupid and wrong

I cannot wait until the Pep Guardiola is my idol is no longer our manager. Somebody please save us from the nightmare.

Is he though?

His interviews are painful. There’s no flow to his conversation. Always speaking in small sentences. Nothing natural about him. It’s all like a politician with calculated answers. If he’s like that away from the cameras he musty be difficult to warm to

ETH might be have a brilliant understanding for the game but I just get the impression he doesn’t have healthy relationship with his players

Should have been sacked 5 times over already. Today is a tap in for Ineos. Zero complaints, zero excuses. If Ineos are serious then they'd pull the trigger right now. Don't let him leave that fecking ground.
Then they need to set an example with the next manager get top 4 or you’re out. We need to start being ruthless, it’s the only way to drag our standards back up to where it needs to be.

You’re assuming everyone who wanted to see his third season was calling for him to leave before the City result. You’re wrong on that. No matter… you can continue to suffer along with us.

It’s manager”s fault. No more excuses.

We have a good team: Licha, Mazzraoui, De Ligt, Garnacho, Mainoo, Zirkzee, Bruno, Amad - are all great players ability wise. We won a lot of games thanks to their individual brilliance.

We have issues with tactics, team instructions, subs all of which leads to mentality problems. It is obvious they are not happy. Especially, Bruno. He”s burnt out. Same thing happened to Rashford. Fans single out team leaders and hate them.

This time one can’t blame players.

He needs to go, but we need to bring in a manager who can work with the types of players he brought in. That's the rub.

After what we all thought was a brilliant transfer window
I was never convinced.

The window was better in terms of
1. We managed to shift more players out than usual
2. We managed to get players in more efficiently than usual

However, that still doesn't mean the signings we made were good signings. I'll need to see these signings for 18 months before I conclude they were success or not.

I'm not writing them off like some fans are doing already. But I was certainly never going to take it for granted that we made good signings just because "it's under the new regime". The new regime have to earn our trust that they know what they're doing in the market, they shouldn't just get it automatically.

The poll was something ridiculously high, like 80% OUT before the final, and then by the time the poll closed it was a higher percentage asking for him to stay. Every single fool who changed their vote and is now moaning, that's who I'm talking to.

The most outrageous thing is that we have all witnessed us making EXACTLY THE SAME mistake (allowing one game to have a major sway in the decision that the manager has to stay) with Ole and that PSG game. And yet a large portion of our fanbase insisted on repeating the very same mistake just a couple of years later. Boggles my mind.

Really what the hell does the poll matter. The red cafe posters don’t hire or fire managers.

When ETH gets sacked its odds on we will get Southgate. No polls will change who we get..

Fan sentiment can play a huge role in getting a manager sacked. The poll provides evidence that a lot of United fans were swayed by the FA cup final performance, and that will follow through on social media and in the stands.

Alexa, show me a quote of someone who didn’t watch the match today.

Can only assume you’re taking the piss

It was a bit harsh, but you could understand why the referee went for a straight red. He raised his foot towards the player's knee for no good reason other than to stop Maddison in his tracks. We saw it with Martinez last week who was lucky to get away with a very rash challenge.

Their minds are scrambled at the moment, and some of that, you have to suspect, is down to the manager. The players look lost and they don't know what they're doing because their manager isn't doing his job.

Ineos have given him a fair crack, no one will bat an eye lid if they get rid now. It’s clear at this point it’s not going to work.

What’s more worrying is that we’ve signed yet more shite players.

When a lot of people say Ten Hag should be gone then he comes back with few good result and the season goes on

It's September, but I don't care. When the official announcement drops, I'll throw something on the grill to celebrate

I mean, we were told the likes of Berreda and Wilcox were best in class, so they will have seen enough to know that what he is doing doesn’t work.

I think people will be very surprised how good these players, particularly, the new signings, will be under a good coach.

No Southgate, no Potter please. It’s time to get serious.

True that the players may be better under a different manager. But managers aren’t miracle workers… are managers gonna make dalot stop making mistakes and defend properly in games? Are players gonna be able to make a simple 5 yard pass? It’s all simple things and some things managers can’t control is what happens on the pitch.

The results, the football, the signings, the interviews. All utterly horrible, and I genuinely think he's the worst manager we've hired post SAF. What makes it worse, is he was allowed to drag the club through the gutters last season, and still get backed with more clueless signings. A documentary should be made on this club on how insanely incompetent it is. It really is a phenomenon.

Same can be said about managers, more players being fit, more time, more money etc won’t make a difference if the manager isn’t up to the job.

We don’t have a squad littered with huge quality but we also should not be the shambles we are in most games. The manager was inept for the vast majority of last season, all his flaws were there to be seen. Unsurprisingly spending more money and giving him more players hasn’t changed that.

Doesn't really feel like much to celebrate, we all thought we found the one in ten Hag.

I'll celebrate when we actually win the Premier League or champions league

Few decent results and performances (I know it was only Southampton, Barnsley and Palace) got me thinking he'll survive until November/December. But that Twente draw was really poor and kinda set the mood for the loss today I believe. And now it's Porto and Villa away which can be 2 wins if you're decent side but perhaps players have finally given up and just down their tools for these two games.

Last October our last game before the break was against Brentford. McTominay saved the day with his late brace and helped ten Hag. There's no McTominay anymore and don't think anyone else will save him this time.
