We're writing next season off if we only bring three players in. Five signings needed at a minimum.
That's an odd way of saying ten. We're writing next season off if we only bring three players in. Five signings needed at a minimum.
But he didn’t say that did he, he said minimum of three windows, possibly 5-6.Rangnick wants 20 players out the door, I'd rather we take his opinions with a pinch of salt. You can't get rid of an entire squad and sign a new one in the same window, that's not how real life football works.
I said at a minimum, obviously ten would be ideal. And they have to be the right players, not more duds like Telles, Fred, Lindelof, AWB and Maguire. That's an odd way of saying ten.
Any manager would want a revolution. Our owners and leadership obviously didn't accept that as a viable option. 2nd not so long back etcThis strikes at the heart of our issues. Ralf was a proponent of revolution and he has been discarded. Ten Hag presumably agreed with the Evolution mindset and thinks there is enough here to build from. I like ETH, i think he's a good coach but if he chooses to build his foundation on shaky grown that will be on him. He has started with Martinez, get him his own keeper, midfielder and striker now. If we are still starting De Gea, Maguire, Ronaldo, Rashford,Bruno etc how different can we be?

Not even a revolution could save this club
1st tweet: Club will listen to offers for players etc etc
But the only players who left are the ones whose contracts run out or on a shitty loan where we pay them for the pleasure of not being here?
Nice. Keep bullshitting me, my beloved club.
For a brutal demonstration why, make a quick sweep through the salary data on capology.com. I was always vaguely aware that United players were very well paid compared to most other clubs, but I never quite realised just how bad it was.
We have 7 players making more than 10m. Arsenal have 2, Spurs 2 (both just over 10m), Chelsea 4, Liverpool 3, City 5.
The biggest earners on the smaller clubs tend to make 3-4 million. The top earners on the big second-tier clubs (like Everton, Villa, Leicester) generally max out at around 7-8 m. These clubs have overall wage budgets roughly one third of United's. Anthony Martial makes 3m more than Harry Kane, who is Spurs' highest earner and plays for what is after all one of the richest clubs in Europe. The salaries of many of the players we've been actively trying to get rid of (Martial 13m, Wan-Bissaka 4,7m, Bailly 4,2) would make them among the highest paid players in most clubs outside the big 6. Martial, on that wage, would be the best-paid player in every club except Chelsea, City and Liverpool, and a close second at Arsenal (behind Jesus).

If the revolution entailed replacing the Glazers with decent owners we'd quickly see things change for the betterNot even a revolution could save this club

Now it's more polish the turd than rebuildAt least they’ve abandoned “rebuild”, sick to death of hearing it.
Only thing that will probably see them go is some mass protests or them facing financial difficulty necessitating itIf the revolution entailed replacing the Glazers with decent owners we'd quickly see things change for the better

People are freaking out because we haven’t got the big names in or some 100m wonder kid.
It’s a rebuild. For all the chat about Brighton we still dont know what we’re going to look like under Ten Jag. It’s mental to think we can look at that match and think that’s it, that’s their level.
Let Ten Hag actually manage and coach, see how we develop and we can pick apart who we need and who we don’t as the season goes on. As we can see with De Jong, the CL money is basically spent on him or the majority would be back in Glazer pockets anyway when he turns us down. CL money isn’t that important to us. What’s important is Ten Hag being allowed to build the squad in his image over the next 2/3 seasons. That’s what a rebuild is.
Our fanbase is panicking because of one game under Eric and it’s not fair on him. We can’t be in this position year in, year out out,. Any sort of drawback can’t induce hysteria about how nothings working and it’s all fallen apart.
I can’t validate any of this, and assuming the reported figures are correct (and kudos for collating it) jesus christ this is so brutal to read. Still I’m assuming the 7 are CR DDG Varane Sancho Bruno and Rash, martial.
Maguire makes 9.8 so that’s practically 8 players.
The mismanagement of financial resources in recent times is ridiculous. We’re looking at a club that has been heading for mediocrity for a long time but everything was put under a rag.
Agree!People are freaking out because we haven’t got the big names in or some 100m wonder kid.

We couldn’t back Ten Hag any more though. Unless backing him means spending 100m on Antony then I just can’t see it. If anything we are backing him too much. You and some others again completely miss the point. This is a glazer problem and the frustration is with them not ten Hag. This is not just about failing to spend £100 million this summer, it’s the decline of our club in general: Dated training ground and stadium; behind our rivals in club structure; failing to hire the best DOF etc etc.Its incredible that some still need to be convinced that the Glazers are the problem.
Looking like a good prediction from back in April.I'd be amazed if we recoup more than 10m in sales
I don’t think that’s true. It was reported we had moves lined up in case De Jong failed and it looks as if that’s the case. The timing looks shit but that’s by chance imo. He literally said last week we aren’t signing players just to sign them.I must say it seemed like the board, and potentially the manager himself, was panicking more than the fans after the Brighton game.
Most of us realise this will take time, but they were like straight in, emergency midfielder and striker NOW.
Nonsense reaction.

A lot of this is the fanbase projecting.
But he can be a stop gap until a player he wants arrives or develops?I cannot imagine any scenario discussed at a self-respecting top club where Arnautovic is part of the long-term plan for the next three years.
Rabiot, meh. Whatever. If the board/Ten Hag thinks he's the replacement man for FdJ, get him in. Preferably not on a ridiculous contract.
