Erling Haaland

I just can't see why Pep would go from a passing machine like Kane to Haaland.

I can see why Haaland would want to come to City though.

City will 100% walk the league next season.

Newcastle 100% will buy 16th place

I thought he was on the verge of signing for Barcelona?

Just get deal done with City then everyone else can focus on realistic striker targets

Really?
The only big difference between them when it comes to passing is that Kane like hitting long passes a lot more, Haaland likes short one touch passes more and is more direct while their precision is similar (70 vs 71 %).
They also have similar defensive contributions and are used to play for teams with high pressing.

Then it’s the rest of what they bring:

Goalthreat = Non-penalty goals per 90 (npxG90)+ expected assists per 90 (xA90). Numbers from PL and BL this season:
Kane - 0,36npxG90 + 0,24xA90 = 0,6 total
Haaland - 1,0npxG90 + 0,28xA90 = 1,28 total

Haaland is a potential goat goalscorer.
Haaland is stronger, bigger and faster.

Haaland turns 22 in the summer.
Kane turns 29 in the summer.

There’s “50%” sales on Haaland in the next window, and the next window alone.
Kane will cost 120M +

I can’t see a single good reason why anyone would choose Kane over Haaland if they could choose. Haaland is simply a tier above Kane as a striker and goalscorer and hasn’t even entered his prime yet.

City is desperate for a forward.

Yes Pep would prefer Kane. However, learning from the previous summer, Levy might not pick up the phone. When Haaland was also unattainable. So they should play safe this time around by getting Haaland now that he becomes available is. It wouldn't prevent Pep to sign Kane if he later becomes available. They have the financial power, and squad space for both.

Hope Haaland move else where if not us though.

Pep did claim that he considers the position of the striker second only to goalkeepers in terms of the amount of specialization required. And he was pretty successful with Lewandowski.

This City development seems weird. He's not the kind of striker Pep likes at all. Infact Pep has had issues with more technical strikers than Haapand too.

Wonder if it's City board overruling that Haaland is important for the club's future as opposed to Pep's demand.

Bit of an odd fit. All the strikers Pep has liked or wanted have excellent all round game. This is gonna be interesting.

I think it's in "all in" exercise from City. They know Guardiola is not going to be there forever and they want to win the CL and really establish themselves as the dominant team in England before he leaves.

Haaland is younger than Kane, and most importantly, Borussia can be talked to. Levy is a pain in the @rse to negotiate with.

I still think we can land both Haaland and Mbappe, specially if we manage to get rid of both Bale and Hazard. Jovic has barely played so we would need to sell him as well. The fact is we have a thin squad so there's definitely space for two forward players.

What happens to Vinicius if you sign Mbappe and Haaland? Is he relegated to being Mbappe's backup on the left?

Vinicius - Haaland - Mbappe

That would be my guess. i doubt it will happen as Benzema is still playing at a high level.

The three of them are very young while Benzema would be the only senior player but everyone can share minutes and compete for a position. Benzema is playing really good but as he gets older we should be managing his minutes more and more like we did with Ronaldo.

Yeah I assume Benzema is not even playing in this case and you'll play a 4-3-3. If you have to fit Benzema into the attack then it becomes even more impossible. Probably have to drop Kroos and Modric and play Casemiro and Valverde to have the legs to carry Mbappe, Haaland, Benzema, Vinicius.

It’ll probably a similar situation to Liverpool having Jota, Mane, Luiz, Salah, Firmino.

Madrid will have so many games there will be plenty of rotation.

Mbappe won't play on the right, it will be Vinicius who is shifted, although really Mbappe just needs a free role and him and Vinicius can figure it out, but no way Mbappe becomes a RF for Madrid or anyone IMO. He did it for one season at PSG his first season but that was it, and made it pretty clear he was not interested in going back there.

If Haaland goes City we'll end up paying silly money for Kane.

I'd hate that to happen.

Best case would be Haaland goes Madrid and City take Kane and save us the hassle of signing a 29 year old striker who had probably had his peak.

Does Mbappe play RW generally? I thought he mostly played CF / LW.
No and he won't play RW or any Wing really in Madrid. Vini on the LW, Carvajal/Lucas( :( :nervous: ) on the RW and Mbappé+Benzema/Haaland the 2 strikers

It can sound very egotistic to pursue both Haaland and Mbappe but someone has to counter the Pedri-Gavi combo being developed at Barcelona

What you just said makes no sense dude. Mbappe prefers to play off the left and i have no doubts he will continue to do so. Its the position that makes the best use of his incredible pace. Haaland isnt going to share playing time with anyone at no9, benzema or not. He like Mbappe are going to insist on starting every game. That leave RW, where vinicus will have to be shifted out to.

What doesn't make sense? Mbappé's not a wide player, Vinicius is. So the wide player plays wide, the striker plays wherever he's most effective. It's not like positions or even roles are fixed either. They'll move around

News this morning about a Madrid-Borussia meeting to finalize the transfer.
Marca, Pedrerol, etc. I wonder if Jovic will be included?

I just feel if you sign both Mbappe and Haaland then not playing them in a striker partnership maybe a bit dissapointing.

Mbappé is already taken for granted. Some even say that he has already signed
You guys will implode yourselves to high heaven if you go for both of them, it will unbalance your team to an insane degree , you lot will be much better of if you just get Mbappe and build around him.

If he goes to City, how many goals do we think he gets in the Prem next season?

I'd say 23.

Are Madrid seriously going to grab Haaland and Mbappe for whats probably a combined total of £75million? The jammy gits. Meanwhile we'll be begging Levy to let us reunite Arry Kane with Poch for £100million as we aspire to finish 4th next season. Sigh.

Yes, surely. I wonder how they are going to play up front and how they will adapt to 4231, with Benzema behind, or at least that is what comes to my mind. Or play with 3 defenders. However, if we don't sign him this year we would lose him so we had no choice.

You lot seem to actually be building towards something and returning to your winning ways it would be quite a shame to throw all of that out the window just to go for the most fashionable toys out there, this actually seems to be perez's folly as he does have a track record of derailing a well balanced team with his "galctico" signings.

Much rather he goes there than City.

Yeah I do too, but it just feels annoying how a club like Madrid, despite their recent financial troubles are still able to clutch this sort of business that will keep them relevant in Europe's elite for years to come, while we continue to waste obscene amounts of money with nothing to show for it except Instagram followers.
