Erling Haaland

They both had a great seasons so far, but since when is 17 goals and 8 assists in 1687 minutes (0,91 goals/90 - 1,33 goals+assists/90) better than 17 goals and 4 assists in 1022 minutes (1,5 goals/90 - 1,85 goals+assists/90)?
Benzema scores more goals than Haaland in CL this season, and LL is always bigger than BL.

Unless Haaland moves to bigger league in future, I wouldn't consider his BL stats in equal value to other players from top league.

I think you need to calm yourself abit on analysing those per minutes stats based on limited number of games.

To be claimed as GOAT, not only you need to have great impact on the pitch (ie goals or performance or both), you also need to win something big and achieve something great. Numbers alone wouldn't be enough.

For example, Pele won 3 WC, was talented and playing football well ahead of his time, scored alot of goals ahead of everyone from his time, hence he is GOAT.

Messi won 7 Ballon D'or, among most talented player ever, has more assists and MVPs than anyone by records, and among elites all time top goalscorer too, hence he is GOAT.

Ronaldo won 5 Ballon D'or, won 5 CL, was talented and clutch, and he is all time topscorer in almost every category too, hence he is GOAT.

Maradona is probably the most talented player ever, singlehandedly won the WC for his country, and carry his team a few Serie A titles during the hardest era in football, hence he is GOAT.

Then, we also have players like Bican from Austra-Czech, who reportedly scored more goals than Pele during 30s-50s, with over 1812 goal in 1089 games (include regional level etc), and scoring ratio of 1.8 goals per game! No one consider him anywhere near the greatest.

We also have players like Ferenc Deak, scored 795 goal in 511 games (include regional level), scoring ratio 1.5 per game. No one rate him as greatest.

Peyroteo, 597 goals in 369 games, scoring ration of 1.6 per game, not many consider him the greatest.
I’m really not calling Haaland the GOAT. I don’t think he will ever be complete enough to become the GOAT either, but if he goes to the right club next and avoids serious injuries, I think he could become an all time goalscorer. I think he has the potential for that. Ronaldo’s records could be in danger. I think he’s the best young goalscorer the world has seen the last 60 years and will probably dominate football the next decade.

The reason why Deak, Bican and Peyroteo isn’t concidered is obviously because they didn’t play in strong leagues. Peyroteo for instance: The first time in history the top scorer in Portugal scored less than a goal per game was in 1966. Sporting scored between 4-5 goals on average in his entire career there. It’s not just about numbers, it‘s also about setting and level of competition.

Haaland wants to be the star in his new team, in Madrid he would not be.
Either he lowers his economic pretensions so that other teams can enter the bidding or he must renounce to be the leader of the team if he signs for Madrid

I'm surprised it's not mentioned how ugly the guy is more often.

His face is like a burnt potato.

Ghastly.
Maybe that's why he scores so many? The keeper staring straight down at him, maybe quite distracting. Just kidding though, he's got a super human type of look if you ask me.

Which means he would most likely end up going to City then.

Bayern - already have Lewandowski, who is currently better than Haaland.

Real - they are signing Mbappe next summer. I just can’t really see them buying Haaland when they already have Mbappe, Benzema and Vinicius in their attack.

Barca - financially broke, and probably no CL football next season too

City - they are looking for a striker aren’t they? If they show Raiola the money, Haaland would be theirs.

Mbappe is a non-factor, he'll be signed as an right inside forward.

Just like with Bayern, they don't Haaland since Benzema is still in his prime & shows no signs of declining

Benzema has played 439 mins in UCL this season unlike Haaland's 203 mins. Of course Benz scores more given to context.

Do you also keep the same energy for Lewandowski? He has never proved himself outside Bundesliga. I guess he never was the best striker itw..

Well and that's exactly why I won't consider Haaland BL record highly yet.

Anyway I think he has small chance of breaking Ronaldo CL record, if he manage to score 10 CL goals each season, over the next 12-13 years, he could be within reach with that record. And I don't see why it isn't possible, as I think its possible he could stay at the top until his early 30s, and given that if he could remain consistent over the years, and stay out of any major injuries. But that would be the hardest part too.

Regarding Ronaldo international record, Euro record, and career goal record, I don't think he has a chance to beat those.

For international record, he averaged around 5 goals per year, and he is currently on 12 goals only. it would take him over 20 years to achieve that. By then he would be 41. I just don't think a player who relies heavily on strength and physicality could last that long on the top (ie Rooney).

For Euro record, there's simply no chance, as Norway isn't good enough to progress or play in Euro finals.

For career record, he is currently on 155 goals, and need to score 646 more goals to match Ronaldo current record. His personal best is around 45 goals per season (club+country), but that also include his inflated BL numbers, and it would take him around 15 years of his best form to do that (36 by then). Don;t think he would last that long on the top anyway. Also, Ronaldo would probably finish his career with 900+ goals, so Haaland would need at least 16-17 seasons of top form to achieve that (top form until age 38). Just don't think there is any chance it would happen.

Great player. Would love to see him play for my beloved United, but with Mino at his side, i don't want to see him in my team. I don't care how good he is.

I think Mbappe would be a factor too as he would be highly paid. Haaland would surely ask for same range of money. (expect up to 1 million pre-tax wage per week), even Real would find it hard to afford both players at the same time (remember they can't afford to buy Pogba last summer, as they need to reserve fund for Mbappe). Imagine it would cost Real 270m to pay for Mbappe 5 years wage, and another 270m for Haaland 5 years wage. This is the exact kind of money which broke Barca financially.

Lewandowksi has far better numbers than Haaland in BL over past 3 seasons, and he actually did win something major - more BL titles, and of course CL trophy too. Hence I have no problems on rating him highly.

Not ok, dude.

What the actual feck.

To be fair his father looks like he's been struck in the face with a frying pan so it's obvious his son was going to look similar.

In that situation you usually hope mum bails you out but guess that didn't happen.

In a perfect world, Ole and SAF talk to him about what it means to play for a club with working man’s roots and all that jazz and Haaland lets Raiola go after signing here.
That's a dream. Raiola is popular with his clients because he gets them exactly what they want. Money, endorsements and controlling their own destiny

Sadly I can't see him going anywhere but City, they got the money, the squad and the coach to challenge for major titles and with Kane's awful form I don't think they'll be back for him.

You forgot one very important thing imo. Real Madrid had one of the best squads in the world when Ronaldo played for them. Same with United. Imagine the current Haaland plays for a team like that. With worldclass players around feeding him it'd be really crazy I think.

TBF, the big and even medium agencies can also do the first two; I never really thought that maybe Raiola sells himself chiefly on the bolded part. Aka ‘I guarantee you I can get you sold whenever you want should you ever want out of your club’

I just wonder, if I were Haaland, where would I go next?

City seems the best place to go, there will be many chances to put on plate for him for sure, but then PL is a very tough league, there's no guarantee he could win more trophies there, even at City, competition in the league would be very intense, and its definitely not the best league for him to stat pad. Also, Pep City looks like a team with goals flowing everywhere, rather than playing towards one player as focal point.

I wonder maybe Bayern would be the best place for him, guarantee goals and trophies and such, may even win a CL in future, but there is Lewandowski there, scoring even bigger numbers than him. Its not there best time for him to move there. But if he wants to break record, Bayern would definitely be the best place to go.

PSG with Mbappe gone would be a place to go too. Easy league, but he has to play under the shadow of Messi and Neymar, maybe not the best idea to go there.

Gotta love the fact that half of the best young players in the world are represented by that slimeball  :wenger:

 never mine how ugly he definitely is, that smug smirk makes me hate him more every time I see it, a face only a fist could love.

I can't post media but couple hours ago Raiola said it's City, Bayern, Barca and Madrid.

Personally my bet is City. Bayern won't pay what that fat fecker wants and like you said, they have Lewan. Barca has no money. Madrid is in a rebuild phase and they have Benzema.

Also gotta love the pearl clutching 'how could you say such a thing' reactions. Like Haaland is reading this and would actually care regardless.

Our team is far too attractive to now employ him. It would shatter his confidence.

Although he could help balance it out a bit? Restore the universe since the likes of Rooney and Tevez graced the shirt?

Perhaps we need more ugly feckers.

Madrid or Barcelona would be a bit like when Ronaldinho went to Barcelona. A big change of players would be needed to make room and afford it but I think its possible thats what happens

I dont think he suits what Barcelona want to play like anyway. So more likely Madrid and something like Casemiro and Valverde (maybe a 3rd) sold to be able to sign him

Except Pogba is an example of that not happening.

It's obvious that Haaland was never coming to Man United after that incident where Roy Keane struck his father in the face with a frying pan

Sigh... not true!
It was his back with a piano. People never remember the story....

If he is to become an all time elite goalscorer (and he certainly has the potential), he needs to start winning golden boots soon. Lewandowski is in his 30s and he's still winning, which makes Haaland's task of reaching Messi's record of 6 all the more difficult.

Agree that the level of competition matters, but I think that there is a difference between the bundesliga (a top 5 league) and what the Portuguese league is. Lewandowski plays in Germany, but he will still go down as one of the greatest strikers ever, breaking Gerd Muller's all time goals in a season, and is on pace to finish with the highest non-Messi goal scoring calender year since the 1970s.

Real will sign both of them because the club's biggest values are excess, hyperbole, unruliness and voracity.
Also Flo hasn't got a chance to swing his dick in the air in years
