Erling Haaland

He can just wait and join United next year when Cavani will play less. That way he will be the main striker and at the perfect club to build up his brand. On top of that, playing with Sancho alone would guarantee him goals, at least 30% of his goals will come from Sancho's assists. Easy mode career :wenger:.

I called this months ago. We've had Zlatan then Cavani. He's the next logical move. Another great striker who will be slightly past his best but will still have plenty to offer.

Reckon he'd come too. Either us or Madrid.
Would happily take leodowski for a year or two. Another great striker for the likes of Greenwood and Rashford to learn from.

Big season for Haaland this. Is 2nd season syndrome gonna kick in? Can he prove he wasnt a one season flash in the pan wonder? Gonna stick my neck out and say Dortmund will regret not selling this summer to chelsea for stupid money.

I have the same feeling too. He probably realises how big a factor Sancho was to his success in his 1st season.

No one can afford £150 million in transfer fee alone - so if anyone were to sign him this summer, it would depend on them having a couple of players to trade that Dortmund want.

I guess he also considers the success of clubs. If we fail again to impress, he wont join us.

He is not going to cost less next year. Raiola will get his €40M, Alfie will get his €20m, BVB will get their €85M. Then it will be who is willing to giving him the most signing bonus.

Also important to remember that there will be no payment plan, release clause paid up front.

Which is much less than what clubs were trying to sign him for this summer. Also... Raiola won't get 40 in a million years. And I have no idea who Alfie is.

Zaph is on first name basis with Haalands father.

But surely all of those agent fees apply this summer too? So it absolutely is more expensive.

Keep telling yourself that.

Do you think the agent fee's dont apply this year or something? they'll still ask for the same amount.

Next year he will be half the price, and way more clubs will become able to compete financially. If Chelsea don't get it done this summer he goes elsewhere IMO.

Dortmund are well aware that Haaland is leaving next summer, and for a much lower fee than they could've received if they could set their own terms.

It hardly takes a genius to understand that if someone were to offer them close to double that amount, they'll be willing to let him leave.

Problem is that almost no clubs are capable of offering that, turns it into a one horse race. For Raiola&Co, there's no reason to push for a move, player is happy where he is and next summer clubs will line up with lucrative offers for both agent and player.

Very good point made about the release clause having to be paid in full upfront. Thats a sizeable amount of money. Plus the Riaola and Haaland Snr comission which is alledgly £40m and £20mil respectively. Then Haaland signing on fee, wages, bonus etc. Its a monstrous financial commitment. One i dont think the glazers will approve.

I'd rather let him move somewhere else and be the next in line. Don't want another Ronaldo situation, that was painful enough for a lifetime.

How has football gotten to the point where agents are getting sickening fee's like this. On top of that, giving parents daft amounts of money. As far as I'm aware, the player is contracted to the club, so why do they miss out on so much money?

Like, what does Raiola actually do, he just signs up all the prospects/big players and when they get a move he gets millions upon millions, for what? His name? The fact that he talks to both clubs and causes rifts between everyone?

Does anyone think that perhaps in the future agents will be less needed in football? (Look at agent De Bruyne for example)

If anything I can see them getting worse, it's insane money, there has been a considerable shift in the market to people, running contracts down or threatening to run them down, rather than outright sales. The agents sales are often much lower than the transfer fee.

There's a few factors in why it's so much money, everybody lies, fees are often inflated by newspapers with their terrible conversion of currency and people pay these agents the money.

It is a sad state of affairs, but I could see Roman deciding to go after Lukaku just to avoid the Raiola circus every two years.

Because players are not the smartest people, neither particularly good at negotiating. So they hire people to do the negotiations for them. In almost every case, that brings them more money than if they did the negotiation all by themselves.

Which in turn means that the agents who are good at bringing big money to their clients, get their share of pie too. With the transfers and salaries exploding, it is normal that the agent fees have exploded too. And if the players can bear the risk of running down their contract (which might be very bad if they get injured in the last year), both players’ salaries and agent fees are gonna increase.

From my point of view, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this.

It all makes sense logically. I still think that agents are massively overpaid, why should Raiola be getting £20m+ for a transfer? That seems absurd.

Still doesn't answer why his Dad will get a load of money, too. What's gonna come next in the future, players' neighbours from 1996 getting a payout too?

He is paid 20m because there is some club that is willing to pay him 20m for his services. If that was not the case, then he would be get paid less. His dad is also representing him (a kind of second agent).

I think it is pretty simple actually.

I am never fan of him. Will be a very long season with Lukaku in my opinion.

Hope roman s son in Italy because he is talking with martinez rather than lukaku.

Alfie would argue that without his efforts, there would be no erling, so he feels entitled to a fee.

He’s coming to Utd then.

Get a lawyer and accountant on your retainer. Agents make lawyers look like honest folks.

Most interesting part to this season will be seeing how Haaland gets on without Sancho. Sancho provided a large amount of Haaland’s goals.

Hopefully he has an average season and then decides he wants to come to Utd to link up with Sancho again.

If we are looking for a striker next summer, Haaland makes so much sense. One of them being there would be no reason he wouldn’t fit in with a proven partnership with Sancho already.

It's a release clause. As long as they qualify for another season of ucl they will deem it a success.

Perfect replacement for Cavani, the right age, the Sancho factor, can see Utd being all over this signing next summer if he maintains
the same standard as last season.

I understand what you're saying, it's that I find it quite ridiculous. No agent should be getting paid that amount of money, but because of the competitive nature of football and if it means that a deal can be completed, then of course a rich club will pay up large sums like that. Do you not think it's bad for football though?

Alfie would argue that without his efforts, there would be no erling, so he feels entitled to a fee.

I'm sure there are plenty of people that influenced Erling during his life. Does that mean they deserve a pay out too?

How about paying £20m above his buy out clause right now & letting him stay at Dortmund this season, so, Dortmund get £20m more than they will get next summer & also still keep the player for 1 more season (which is what they want) & UTD get the player next season with zero competition because they have already bought him this summer...job done! :)

Pretty sure Haaland Jr, Haaland Snr and Raiola are happy with the current arrangement where they all bank serious fees next summer.

I'm sure Dortmund and the agent would keep it quiet!
