Erik ten Hag vs Sancho | Sancho back in full training

I'm sorry to break it to you, but Pellistri is not good enough. He seems to be flavour of the month here on the Caf, but give it 2 match days and people will be begging for Antony back.

Only option I see as adding any value to the team is to have Bruno/Mount play off the right. With one of them playing in front of Case/Mainoo or Case/Amrabat.
Never mentioned Pellistri. I don't think he's good enough either. I just have no interest in us crawling back to Sancho.

I'd honestly have Pellestri or Diallo over Sancho at this point. There's clearly a great player in there but it's not looking good for him.
I'd like Amad to be given an opportunity when fit. I don't think Pellistri is good enough ultimately, but feel he is capable of making an impact off the bench.

Sancho apologies and in the wake of the Antony news, like clockwork he's back into the fold ready for Brighton. The report that ten Hag thinks its all been blown out of proportion said it all, he knows he now has to use Sancho as Pellistri is not ready and we cant use Bruno as a RW.

I can't agree with that. I thought it was absolutely clear from ETH's original comments what he intended. He outright said that Sancho's training levels were not where they should be and that he has to do better to make the squad. Seems clear cut for me. The onus is always on the player to work hard to prove that they deserve to play. I respect ETH more from this situation as he's setting the standard for what's expected.
And not just for Sancho. When this sort of thing happens, everyone in the squad knows what's expected and what will happen otherwise, regardless of status or price tag. (Also without the press conference comment, but still.)

I hope we don’t bring him back just because Antony is not available. Let’s play Pellistri and other kids or even Mount/Bruno there (they can’t do worse than Sancho) and only if Sancho shuts his mouth, apologises and works really hard in training he should be allowed to play again.

He's not ready and it's too much responsibility for someone inexperienced, he needed a loan.

I seriously think he can come in and be more productive than Antony. He might take the responsibility and step up, I think it’s worth giving him minutes.

The only requirement to get in to the United starting eleven is that you are not beating your girlfriend.
The state of this club is just unbelievable.
How can those in charge of this club not see when someone like Antony or Sancho or Greenwood or Martial , does not posses the maturity and the professionalism needed to play for a club like United.
when you are paying 70-80M for a player and give them a 5 year contract your are taking a huge risk and the least you can expect is that that risk is being assessed not only based on the football skills but also on other factors.
I would be surprised if Højlund turns out to be a wife beater or too lazy to show up on time, and the same can be said about most players in the squad. Somehow I am not surprised with Antony and Sancho.

Lets be real if Antony stays in Brazil and Sancho doesnt get at least 45 minutes (say some rotation with Garnacho) per game ETH doesnt rate him and doesnt want him in the team

That depends on how the talk between them unfolds. You would think there's some ground to meet here but that might depend on both men state of mind. However yes, Sancho should at least get a real shot at competing for a place if all ships have not been burned.

Wait, what? Might want to distinguish just a wee bit between players accused of assaulting women and players you perceive to have a weak mentality.

They might not fit in the same box but they are both in a category that we should avoid and not throw millions after.

It would be fecking hilarious if Sancho gets his chance now at right wing and makes it his own now because of Antony's extended leave.

Please do not start Garnacho and play Rashford on the right for dear god.

Sancho needs to grow up and ETH needs to up his man management. Poor handling from both in this case, but hopefully it possible to get over this and move forward quickly.

Sancho has openly called his manager a liar. If he doesn’t apologise and gets any minutes before Christmas I’ll be amazed.

If this was someone like Rashford, you'd expect a meeting in the middle due to what would be missed by him not playing. Sancho offers...nothing. In theory he does, but we've yet to truly see it in a Utd shirt. Ten Hag has no real reason to bow down to a player who needs to learn their place and how to act at a big club.

Is it just me or has this whole thing been blown way out of proportion?

Ten Hag shouldn’t have publicly criticized Sancho’s performance in private training. And obviously Sancho shouldn’t have responded like he did - but he’s obviously insecure, possibly even paranoid so it didn’t surprise me to see the kid react defensively.

But is this really enough for us to abandon all hope that they can work it out as top professionals?

Why? He's clearly tried other methods before this to get him up to scratch, none worked so you try something different. Also, he never said anything bad about him he simply said other's were better hence why he didn't make the squad.

Managers publicly throw down the gauntlet to players all the time, Ten Hag didn't say anything close to approaching inappropriate. It was a one off comment as to why Sancho wasn't in the squad.

The reason this has been blown out of proportion is because Sancho has massively overreacted to a nothing comment. Did you also feel the same way about Pogba? What about Martial? Lingard maybe? These players have openly called managers liars whenever their careers have been in question and they've always won because it's easier to fire a manager.

Sancho should have kept his gob shut and knuckled down, like the majority of other players do in this scenario. He's the reason it's a big story, no one's talking about what Ten Hag said if the silly twitter post isn't made.

What makes Sancho believe that he has been made a scape goat? What has the club or manager said before that makes him entitled to that statement? Moreover, what has he done to discredit that alleged statement?

After the games in the dressing room, I can only imagine ETH giving it to him for his performances which is fully justified. Probably demanded more from him and suggested that the breakdown of some attacks are probably due to him holding the ball and passing backwards instead of taking on the defence and run down the flanks.

That's what fans are upset with him about and I am sure ETH too. Yet, he thinks he is a scapegoat. He needs a reality check.

Yeah you may be right. If that is the case though then he doesn't have the right attitude to succeed here.

I've always supported managers calling players out even Jose. I think this is a bit different though with Sancho reportedly having mental health issues. Any employer has to be very careful there and calling out a player publicly fails a proper standard of care.

Hopefully they resolve it behind closed doors and we move on.

So why would they have showdown talks today, when Sancho would have been training all week with the rest of the squad not called up for internationals, unless they’ve had time off
They’ve probably had time off and everyone not on duty is back training today

People really need to get over the supposed 'mental health issues' Sancho had/has. If he mentally can't handle playing for United then he needs to leave ASAP. He can't handle the scrutiny of playing for a club of this size, that's where any of his issues stem from, and having 'issues' doesn't mean you can be an absolute dick, not run, not train right and publically call your boss a liar. United are in a results based business and you can't carry passengers in this environment because they don't like being told what to do because it makes them 'feel bad'.

Sancho has been given every opportunity to succeed at United and he has failed to take any of the chances given to him. Let's not forget that this manager gave him 5 months away from the pressure of playing for United to get himself right, if he still isn't right then what do we do now? Give him a full season away? Maybe 2 full seasons away?

I think they’ll patch things up. ETH won’t want any more distractions this season plus he knows we’re short in numbers upfront especially with the Antony situation. I think he’ll put it down to being blown out of proportion. We’re stuck with Sancho anyway until at least January, may aswell try and get him to play decent for now and if he’s still dog shite then we sell him at the first opportunity.

Although I agree with you, Martial as had a lot more chances and he’s still here. Sancho has had a couple of seasons, he’s had patches where he’s looked really decent. Martial on the other hand as been a shambles for years and he’s so lazy. This isn’t me defending Sancho by the way… I think the way he’s been playing he deserves to go but I think his scapegoat comments will probably have something to do with Martial still getting game time when he’s been just as bad.

What's the point? He might play well for the next 6 months with no competition for his place then he'll revert to his normal shitness once he's under pressure again, by at which point we'll be in two minds about selling him because he has great 'talent' that needs 'unlocking' in the right system or with 5 new players around him to get the best out of him. Players like these get managers sacked and are best being moved on ASAP.

Believe me, I'd have sold Martial under Mourinho when he called him out for what he was and when he had suitors, but we're stuck with him now and that's what will happen to Sancho if we don't get him gone as soon as possible, a steady slide into not even trying anymore while he runs his contract down.

It depends. Is it an inherent problem that can't be solved? Then I would agree.

But if it is caused by for example someone close dying or something, then it should be fair to give him time and space to recover from such a blow.

Your opinion on how people with mental health issues should be handled is meaningless with all respect. The context is the UK protections are very strong on this and and although football is a fringe case those laws still apply.

If we determine his issues mean he can't fulfill his job then fine get rid but evidently he can.

I was hoping we'd offload him to Saudi so it's not that I rate him in anyway but if he's here he should be supported as per his reported issues (if true). That might mean a softie pandering approach which doesn't fit well with the sporting nature of football.

He should be left out of the squad. You have Bruno who can deputise there, Pellistri to come off the bench, Garnacho/Rashford who can fill in, Mount when he comes back. A Sancho on the right wing provides nothing more than any of those players so I don't think its as much of a big deal to leave him out. The drop off from Antony to anyone who replaces him is substantial so it doesn't really matter who plays there.

I think he's used the wrong term or he's under some false impression either people at the club or fans are blaming him when he's been a peripheral figure or given up on. There's so many other things going on at the club and other players and manager taking the blame.
