Erik ten Hag vs Sancho | Sancho back in full training

we’ve been signing players on obscene money with complete disregard of their character for too long now.

Here's what he sent me. For context, my cousin and his girlfriend are on their way to New York and he's on their flight with a mate of his. He managed to grab a quick picture to send me when he wasn't looking.

Lovely little ITK scoop mate  gotta say massively disappointed he’s not sticking around and working hard, but maybe it’s just a quick weekend getaway to clear his head then he’ll be back training hard, wishful thinking really…

 I know! First time I've ever been ITK, I was hoping he'd spotted him flying out to Saudi Arabia but unfortunately not.

Ten Hag is going to lose the dressing room real fast at this rate. Rashford is good friends with sancho and I believe him liking his post was authentic. There is going to be a split when results keep nose diving

There was absolutely no need to hang sancho out to dry after the arsenal defeat. It reeks of trying to deflect away from the performance.

Nonsense. what he said to Sancho wasn't even a criticism. It was an explanation.

I don't believe sancho isn't pulling his weight in training considering he was one our best players in pre season

Fcuk I hate this. You've made up an explanation that you prefer and are projecting Ten Hag will "lose the dressing room" because of it.

What a crock of shite.

Then come out and say he's not training up to particular levels, its public humiliation and sancho has a right to defend himself.

I guess if you were mentally weak, you'd think that. Proper tough grown up players, great players, of the type we want, would react differently and just train harder, prove the boss wrong on the pitch not whinge about it in the media. All Sancho has proven is he's immature.

Pisses me off anyone would take his side on this, supporters shouldn't tolerate players at the level United aspires to, reacting like that.

Hopefully Sancho garners interest from the Saudi league. He’d tear it up at a lower level and should fetch a large sum of money.

Sancho going away to focus and rebuild at a US training camp!

Yeah. In general this is clearly true.

To what extent it is directly relevant to the recent cases is debatable (Greenwood was an academy product, for one thing). But in general, yes - of course we, as a club, have utterly fecked up in this regard.

I have said this before, but there's absolutely zero chance SAF would've sanctioned any number of players brought in since he retired. Doing thorough background checks on potential targets was a big thing for him. *

(Again, this has no direct relevance to recent cases where criminal behaviour is potentially involved - it's about a general negligence with regard to researching a player's suitability for the club on all sorts of levels.)

* An obvious example: Di Maria. There's no chance in hell SAF would've sanctioned that transfer.

Didn't Pep mention that they monitor their players 24/7 on what do they do, what they eat, when they sleep etc. or did I dreamt that? Maybe we should start doing that with our players and keep them on tight leash.

I don't believe sancho isn't pulling his weight in training considering he was one our best players in pre season and had a decent cameo against wolves after Antony stunk up the place who still got picked the following game. If he was training poorly he wouldn't be looking more sharp. I think there's been a bust up behind closed doors, as there is no way sancho deserved to be dropped completely from the squad against arsenal in favour of evans, maguire, Gore and Hannibal

Then come out and say he's not training up to particular levels, its public humiliation and sancho has a right to defend himself.

IF ETH loses the dressing room then the players all should be sold, including Jadon's BestFF Mr. Theo Rashford. How many managers have these overpaid, underachieved primadonnas been thrown under the buss? I'm sick to death watching them throwing the prams when things werent going their way. We want manager to raise the standard yet when we finally have one, supporters want him to be more compassionate toward the players :wenger: SERIOUSLY what do you think Fergie would do in this situation? He wouldve shown Sancho the early exit door! Yes he looked decent at Pre-Season but how many players looked decent in pre-season only to return to their previous forms? Sancho has been with us for 3 seasons, the club have invested big money on him yet he couldnt even give us 10 good matches in 3 seasons! LAUGHABLE! Someone needs to kick Sancho in the ass, and someone who has responsibility to do that is Sancho's own manager, Erik Ten Haag.

Then get rid of the poison. The rest quickly fall into line.

If you want to set a culture you have to not care about pissing people off. Marcus isn't in charge, Ten Hag is.

Honestly with the uncertainty over Antony, I'd rather keep Sancho until January. Amad is injured for a while anyway.
If he works for his shot let him have it. Yes it's also possible Mount could put a shift there, I don't know if it factors in but bar all injuries we have plenty of players that can stand in on that wing.

Transfer rumor sounds like made up story but if someone offer 50m, club should seriously consider.
His value only goes down from here as I don't believe he has the right attitude to turn the table, not at United.

It's better to sell him this window or in January. No point keeping a player who has fallen out with the manager. It creates extra pressure on the manager and on the players.
His value will only drop from now on, he's too expensive to keep out of the team and doesn't seem a player who will try harder to change the manager's mind.
I would try out Mount, Bruno and Pellistri on the right side. Amad will be back in November/December so we have options.

sorry bro, thats not going to wash this time. What ETH said was barely a criticism, if Sancho is too thin skinned not to take this on board and go on social media instead , then he has no place at the club. I hope they can flog him to Saudi asap and frankly if Rashford is of the same mind, he can go too. This rotten mentality needs to be removed ruthlessly and the manager backed 100% or we will be back to a Ralf situation.

You guys act so weird sometimes. Guy can’t travel/enjoy holidays?

I’m sure the club is aware, and allowed him to travel. He doesn’t have to be a Carrington clocking double shifts on the training ground for feck’s sake

He hang him out to dry. Immediately after saying he dropped sancho from the squad due to training levels, sancho received a shitload of abuse on social media questioning his character and ability. No one is making up an explanation, ten hag threw a player under the bus and the player reacted. Sir Alex Ferguson always use to say never air your dirty laundry in public. What about that don't you understand?

Even when rashford was late to training, ETH put him on the bench he didn't drop him completely like what he did to Sancho.

I don't know why you're trying to sound like some tough guy, it's got nothing to do with mentality or being tough, but with professionalism and respect and not character assassinating your own players

Sancho isn't the first player who feels they've been disrespected and made a scapegoat by Ten Hag. One of the greatest players of all time Ronaldo, felt he was being handled wrongly and disrespected by Ten hag. I guess Ronaldo is mentally weak right.

Trace your mind back to when Ten hag didn't start him at the beginning of the season because he was at the hospital attending his sick daughter, and left one of the biggest players in the world rotting on the bench. The Same ten hag who signed Antony, who had no pre season when we signed him and was immediately put in the starting line up.

If you can't see the way Ten Hag is mismanaging these micro problems, by showing favouritism and callous disregard for players who are not his buddies from Ajax, then you will find it out how big of a fallout it will result in real soon

Another problem with keeping players that the manager doesn’t want, is that when shit like this happens Sancho will always have allies in the dressing you who will side with him over the manager.

Then cliques start and you can easily imagine the likes of Rashford/Martial plus the English lads Maguire and Shaw siding with Sancho and agreeing he should be ahead of Antony.

But if the manager had his way and moved on Martial, Maguire, Donny etc in the summer then the dressing room becomes a lot easier to control.

Everything has a knock on effect.

Of course he can. He's played so many minutes this season. Not had any rest any all and very well deserved.

He absolutely does not have to improve, because as his family said he is already doing his best.

Is this even a question? You back the manager, especially when he has done nothing wrong. Sancho has been lacking in both application and ability since he got here, instead of whining on social media he should give people a reason to back him on the pitch. The club already bent over backwards for him last year. We can't keep carrying these mentally weak players, we need some steel.

Weird situation really. What adds to that is the fact that Sancho had looked the fittest I've seen him for United in pre season. He was one of our better players, and myself and others commented on match threads how he looked like he'd gained a yard of pace from somewhere.

Now I'm not saying ETH is lying because we could interpret what he meant about training in different ways, but I don't understand why Sancho would lie? If I'd been slacking in training and I got called out then I'd accept it and work harder. But I don't know why Sancho would so strongly deny it in such a public fashion if he knew it was true. Its hardly the worst criticism ever and many would have forgotten about it in a week or two.

My suspicion is that we're trying to force him out. The way ETH and the club handled De Gea shows a lack of class. So I don't believe they're above taking this route if they think they can add £40-50m to the coffers for another of ETHs big money signings.

This is so dumb. Players train daily, and the breaks/gaps between football matches seems to only be getting shorter. Longer games etc. Prem ended May 28th in a World Cup year, and restarted 12th August. Football is a job. If he’s authorised to go on holiday then he should. That’s not indication that he doesn’t want or won’t improve.

Imagine having annual leave and going to the office to clock triple shifts.

The way you guys talk as if you have ownership over players’ bodies is adjacent to “shut up and dribble” rhetoric and that stuff is unhinged.

He most definitely should go on holiday. I don't disagree. I'm actually hoping he enjoys it so much he doesn't come back.

I don’t get why this would be the strategy the week the transfer window closes and he can’t be replaced.

Sancho may well believe he performed well, doesn’t mean the coaching staff did. I don’t think any of them need to be lying for this situation to occur.

I'll reiterate, I don't believe EtH was throwing Sancho under the bus, and in the same vein, I don't believe Sancho responded to EtH at all.

  • The journalist asked why Sancho didn't play
  • EtH said he didn't perform to the level of the others in training, and he can only choose so many players, so he missed a spot for this particular game
  • Stories started gathering pace on social media that Sancho was lazy in training (not what EtH said)
  • Sancho responds to say he was never lazy in training and always applies himself (not true by the way), and made a point to say he respects the decisions of the training staff

Should have been sold this season. Appalling last season and this season won’t be any better.
How come we sign entitled players with questionable mentality while City buys players that are winners? What are scouts doing? We chased this guy for 2 years and ever since he has come here, he has shown no courage and commitment.

Only players with any kind of elite mentality in the squad are Martinez, Casamiro, Varane, Bruno. Says a lot about us. Hopefully the new players Arambat, Hojlund are better. Garnacho seems to be on the right path and with a couple of new additions, we may finally turn this malaise around. One can only hope.

Perhaps they're aware of interest from Saudi? I don't know.

But I'm fairly certain that they both would have had a conversion about it before ETH gave this interview. Surely he explained to Sancho what he wasn't happy with. So I don't get how it's got to the point where they're both disagreeing over why he was dropped through the media/social media.

And did I read that Rashford liked Sanchos statement? I've not followed this thread much as I'm beyond caring about this lot anymore. The whole lot could feck off for all I care, manager included if it's true he wanted MG back. I genuinely can't wait till we get the next generation of players in as I think some of these have been atrocious representatives of the club and have largely got away with it.

Matching outfits, that's so cute.

Antony might not match his transfer fee but he puts in a shift defensively every time and he routinely finds himself open as an outlet for an attack, Sancho has been here how long and doesn't offer any of that.
Antony is ten times more useful than Sancho. Sancho has the ability but Antony has the physicality and the character to contribute more to the team. (A combination of the two would make a decent player, I’d imagine)

I don’t know what’s troubling Sancho and quite possibly he is deserving of any sympathy and assistance he can get. But let’s say he has some mental health issues which, one day, he manages to overcome; I still don’t think he’ll have what it takes to succeed here. That’s not being unsympathetic it’s just an honest assessment of his attributes in the context of a club with ambitions to win the biggest titles.

Sancho always seems to play well in preseason preparations. It is nothing new just as how he seems not being able to maintain his form into the regular seasons.
