Well first off there should be an established relationship long before anything like this happens. The fact that it is possible to get to a situation where you say something fairly mild publicly and it turns into a locked feud is a failure of basic staff management skills. It shouldn't happen.

Second he's trying to force the kid into an apology by reducing his involvement in the squad on every level, which further reinforces the idea that this is personal for Sancho. There's nothing in Sancho's past that would suggest that this is the way to get him to do what you want. It's authority for the sake of authority, which he is free to do, I just don't agree that it is the best course of action.

Sancho went on social media to publicly undermine his manager. That's quite a serious indiscretion (can you imagine how Fergie would have reacted?). He was given an option; either apologise or train alone until you apologise. Incredibly, he's chosen a third option of training alone but only when he can be arsed after a long night of playing games. The guy is an utter tit. Sometimes there's no helping utter tits.

There are various parties already been trying to get a meeting together. The main problem is that ETH wants an apology and Sancho doesn’t want to and feels he is in the right. Sancho needs to pull his head out of his arse and just apologise.

Given the three months that Sancho was given off last season, we can reasonably assume that ETH and Sancho have spoken many times during their time together. There's no reason to assume this came out of the blue and that Sancho was not spoken to privately.

It's the "various parties" part I don't get. Why doesn't the manager just call the player and say "my office, tomorrow, 2pm" or whatever.

That the PFA are now getting involved because of what started from a pretty harmless post match comment is mad.

Oh feck up. He's been nothing but supportive all the while Sancho has continued to take the piss. He gave him 2/3 months off to get himself right in the busiest period of the season, only for Sancho to revert to the type of behaviour that followed him at City and Dortmund. Let me guess, they created those conflicts too?

He's a 23 year old man (child) who's on £300k a week and he can't even turn up on time. Get rid of the fecking wanker.

That's failure of management. The fact that the player felt the need to go public with this shows that the relationship between them was already broken. A well managed player who genuinly believes the manager is on his side would have gone to his office and talked to him about it - and a good man manager would have found a way for it to inspire the boy, not alienate him further. An excellent man manager would have known the player's reaction, had a plan for how to handle it and had a media strategy ready before making a comment.

As for what would Fergie do. This situation would never have happened under Fergie, not just because of the fear-factor, but because Fergie wouldn’t have alienated the player. He was an excellent man manager that handled far stronger characters than Sancho. Steve Bruce recently had an interview with Simon Jordan where he said as much.

Maybe he is actually better at online gaming. Maybe he is one of the best in the world online? Its just too much effort to be that good in real life.

Can upper management not just get everyone in a room and end this today?

Statement FC can then release a statement saying that it was resolved internally behind closed doors. No further comments will be made. Case closed. Move on.
 
Lots already said and whilst EtH is absolutely right to be able to speak out, I think whlist in his head he was still pissed about the result, you cant throw that kind of bone to the media as a utd manager. That stuff transcends way beyond the PL....

Yep he said it about others but you cant compare AWB with your 80m, 300k a week winger that has 'previous'.

Also maybe part of the reason we get shit money for players is we openly show we want rid. Its like selling a car and telling someone equally that the engines going to blow up.

Sancho is now worth nothing, labeled now as trouble and like others, we'll be paying clubs to take him off our hands.

Lots of players have gone haywire under Fergie.

Besides, players today are much tougher to manage because of how Gen Z players are. Fergie would probably have a Sancho situation every week and be accused of 'emotional abuse' and 'torture' by every other player.

It's not a fact, it's your assumption. The gist of the situation is more or less that this is a pattern over time, Sancho arriving late, slacking off, not putting enough effort into training, generally not being professional, and that we've been unable to sort it out by dealing with it internally. Ten Hag has never been a manager that instantly goes public with issues, you're allowed to feck up but if you continue fecking up the response will be accordingly. Calling him out in public by stating that his performances in training needs to improve and then he'll be back on the team, should hardly be the end of the world.

I am sure they have had numerous one on one conversations in the past.

HR would tell ETH to get it all in writing; have resolution/change plans and agreements etc.

They did this, Murtough came in and tried to mediate the situation after Ten Hag had sit down talks with the player on his own after he returned from his holiday in New York. The situation is a no go because he won't apologise or calling the manager a liar on social media. I'm not sure why people think Sancho being banished is the first and only tactic the management have tried.

I am sure he knew what he was doing by writing the accusation for millions to see, accusing ETH of lying and then leaving it online for well over a week.

Its the same thing CR7 did but on a different platform. The goal is to make sure that they shift you on by burning the bridges.

couldn’t agree more.. but this is a sure fire way of getting yourself sold in January. He’s obviously being poorly advised somewhere along the line also.

part of me wants to see him banished to the reserves and left there for the rest of his contract but that would be too costly and we need to put united first.:D He’s damaging his reputation and wasting his career though. Wouldn’t be surprised if he does some tell all interview Ronaldo style once sold.

Exactly. So how are we in feud-land? How did he not know Sancho's reaction would be like this?

Sancho's statement was filled with references to believing he was being scapegoated and that ETH held something else against him - how do you get there? Then to go from that to needing the PFA to mediate, it's ridiculous.

Most fans think managing a club is easy, especially with their 20/20 hindsight.

Managing an organisation and a bunch of highly paid primadonnas; immature men is very difficult especially if they have access to online platforms/own marketing teams at the same time, the club's performance is being judged on a daily basis.

It is probably more difficult than running a Fortune 50 company in terms of customer evaluations/satisfaction. It has to be a labour of love.

Yeah, agreed that that this is dragging far too much, and that it doesn't matter if Sancho never plays for us again. But what can really realistically be done by the club at this point, other than freeze him out until he comes around (not likely), or we can sell him?

That I’m not sure. It would be nice if it was being made less public, but that’s unavoidable with this club.

For me he’s done here, he won’t recover and I’m not sure he wants to anyway.
 
Who cares really? It's of no cost to the team or results. He'd make no difference right now and he'll be gone soon.

In that sense its the perfect opportunity for ETH to show everyone what won't be tolerated and who's the boss.
