About time.

I'm not happy with his performances as a coach, but I'd rather he stay on than Southgate and Frank. He needs to improve his style of football by a lot.

So he is staying, Its no wonder rival fans are laughing at us when we do stuff like this.

Ineos have majorly fecked this up even worse than the Glazers would have.

Why the rushing into this? He needs to showcase some improvement and positive steps forward first before being rewarded with long term security...

The club making a mess of their 'review' process shouldn't mean they have to overcorrect the other way and offer a new contract to someone who they'd have been more than willing to let go had they found an agreement with other candidates

Clubs let players wind down their contracts often when they still have something to prove, why differ with managers?

Why extend the contract?

It just means having to pay out a lot more if by December things don't improve and they decide to sack him.

Surely you would wait and see how the seaosn progresses, THEN offer a contract?

Hopefully man will have learned the difference in tiers when it comes to the publication of stories. When people who never get access to exclusives start claiming to know things then you have to ask where they got the info from. The scrutiny will help ten hag longer term I think and I think the cup win coupled with the fighting attitude he had in the run up and post match will get him more buy in than before

Not what I’d have done, but let’s face it the alternative options are the pits. Throw in the fact the new execs aren’t even through the door yet - it does make some sense for now.

If it goes wrong mid season then Ashworth and co will have more time to line up a good replacement.

Good news, he now has to prove he's learned from this season. I think he can and with him away from the transfers, he can focus on producing more performances like the cup final.

Indifferent really. There’s a 2 to 3 year gap of squad work that needs done regardless of the manager.

Now if we follow this up by our typical transfer behaviour or squad management I’ll worry.

Yes they have, they have interviewed other managers for the job while keeping Erik in limbo and now they decide to keep him, its embarrasing for a club tbe size of Man Utd to be opporating this way.

Makes sense if there's a CL clause in there that lets us sack him with minimal or no compensation. Otherwise we'd be even bigger jokers than the Glazers.
