Lads, do you honestly think he wants the likes of wout, sab, mctominay, a crock in martial, sancho, maguire as squad players. Ralf was right that we need 10 players and we have signed some decent ones this year. We need another transfer window before we start giving off to the manager, but don't get me wrong he made huge errors today, but some posters here are going overboard with the criticism.
I am still 100% behind him. But IF he decides to keep all those players next season then its all on him after that.

Our form is very worrying now.
You hope so much that the new manager is the next Messias so you get giddy after any kind of run we go on.
We were buzzing here after that run we had after the world cup, beating Barcelona and winning a cup, thinking Erik is the man. Now we are into a scramble for top 4 and our goal difference is testing a grown mans abilty to avoid crying on top of everything. Oh well, it`s only football..

thanks for the league cup but you’ve taken us as far as you can. time for a fresh face and with some new ideas that don’t consist of just playing the tall lads for a laugh.

What do you think about getting Brendan Rogers in? Could be worth a shout IMO. Knows the league, has good teeth, quite small so presumably wont have big person bias? Also doesn’t finish every sentence with heh.

Signs have been there. Too many games, too many injuries. Haven’t looked fluid for a while. Top four is a must.

I like Ten Hag, he’s built up a feck ton of credit and I know he hasn’t got the players he wants, but I’m really not sure about some of his decisions today.

Why does Weghorst start? The only reason seems to be that he is Dutch. If this is the reason, it is not good.

He’s learning the hard way why most teams write off the league cup and sometimes even the fa cup and europa league. This isn’t eredivisie, you can’t just turn up and win against “lesser” teams, even teams at the bottom will out run and out fight you if given the chance.

I’m glad he won a trophy but if continues to imagine we can win fa cup, europa league and finish 3rd then he is seriously deluded.

It’s already falling apart and we’ve not even got to the final of the remaining cups. Needs to make a decision now on what he wants because otherwise we’ll fail on all remaining fronts if this continues.

I disagree because I think he should have that ambition and speak it into existence, but I also agree that it's delusional to actually believe we can achieve it when he keeps putting out a team structured like this and think we're fine.

Sucks for you for believing whoever told you that. Too many players at the club are technically deficient which isn’t the manager’s fault.
He's got the summer to sort it. If we're like this next year then what's the point of him?

We have to be careful this season could easily turn into a disaster. If we fail in getting top 4 with Chelsea and Liverpool not even in the running that’s a major feck up.

If he doesn’t want some of these players, he can rotate them out of the squad. WW has the most minutes after Bruno since he joined. If he doesn’t rate him, then all he has to do is play Rashford up top and one of Sancho/Garnacho on the left. Does he do that? No. But he somehow managed to even shoehorn him on #10 a couple of times, while waxing lyrical about him in the press.

Equally , if he doesn’t like Sab and McT all he has to do is not start them together or start them as part of a midfield 3 with Fred to try to cover their deficiencies.

This squad is not fully his choice, but you cannot protect from the very valid criticism of how he’s using it at times.

I'll have what you're smoking.

Why wouldn’t we if we get in a Kane that could easily happen with another world class midfielder. Amazing how a top striker can cover up issues. Even a very capable midfielder in there with Case would be amazing.

The last time we scored in the league was against Leicester.

After that, we have shipped 9 goals. Scored 0. Got 1 point only. In 3 games. Our attacking play is non existent and midfield is not there at all.

He needs to go 433 at whatever cost, whoever doesn't fit in it, should be discarded immediately.

We are in the same boat as we were with Ole, zero control, moments team, ball over the top to Rashford, non existent midfield.

He has to show balls and change the team setup completely.

Edit..

I understand your disappointment with Manchester United's recent performance. While Ten Hag's appointment brought high hopes, it takes time for a coach to implement their tactics effectively. Even the best teams have off-days and suffer defeats. Let's give the team time and support to bounce back.
I'll give him until next season to get more of his players in. I always give managers time.

My anger is more directed at people who slated Ole for not being able to do better with limited players. Coaches can only do so much. We have some very poor possession players.

If this was Ole he'd have been lynched by now. I'll never understand the abuse he received.

In 14/15 Leicester finished 14th - one season later they’re champions
In 15/16 Chelsea finished 10th - one season later they’re champions
In 12/13 liverpool finished 7th - one season later they’re vice champions
Arsenal finished 8th, 8th and 5th in their last 3 seasons - this season they are practically unbeatable.

And this is just from the last decade of top flight football in England. Things have been crazier in the past with both Ipswich and Nottingham winning the league one year when playing the year before in 2nd division.

The progress utd made this season is palpable, I believe in Ten Hag

But that's the issue, he tried to match Newcastle when he doesn't have the players to do so. Sabitzer had a knock on international duty and Fred was at home doing nothing. Antony didn't seem today like someone having an issue playing 90 minutes. Ten Hag didn't even have a clue where he wanted Sancho to play and after 15 minutes he was preparing another winger to come on in his position.

I'm not saying you can't make an argument for a different approach than the one the manager took, but then again it's very easy to do so with the result in hand. Personally I'd have been more worried ahead of the game if it was Fred rather than McTominay on the team sheet (and I'm really not a fan of McTominay). Given that Antony normally gets subbed at about that time in the game, I'd be reluctant to assume normal reasons didn't apply in this case, just because he didn't look that knackered to me. Also, that would have been Rashford coming off instead then. He did have a poor game, but when you're chasing a goal, which of the two would you rather have on the pitch?

He paid too much for Antony and that’s all I’m gonna throw at him. Apart from that he’s been class for me. He just needed everyone of his buys to lock down his position and Antony hasn’t. Looks abit of a waste of cash…like Sancho was. We couldn’t really afford another like that and yet again it happens. Might come good next season. Sancho has had enough time.

It's not football manager, how much we paid has nothing to do with him

Yes, it is. From the end of the World Cup until the Liverpool game.

Huh? Weghorst didn’t join after the WC. We had 3/3 in the league and 6/6 in all comps after the WC and before WW joined. But we drew against Palace and lost against Arsenal in his first two starts for us.

It’s bizarre and wrong to count from the WC.

For all the good things we've seen earlier in the season, if Utd don't get into the champions league then the harsh truth is that Ten Hag has been a failure in his first season regardless of anything else.

The bizarre selection of a clearly out of his depth championship level striker could actually be the elephant in the room for Ten Hag, at the end of the day its a results based business, this is not a meltdown, just an objective take on what we are now seeing and frankly it's not good enough.

We are in a period losing steam as we had been under Ole’s first half season and the second half of Ole’s second full season.
I think the reason behind is similar. That’s the squad depth in our midfield.
Eriksen is what we miss the most when Casmiro doesn’t play. We don’t have people to control the game and we are tired. The next is again a tough game. Hope ETH find a solution.

The narrative that we’ve had a great season might need reviewing if we keep up this horrific away form. Simply cannot see us beating Brighton (a), Spurs is 50/50. Can see us falling out of the top 4 and that would be very poor considering we’ve held 3rd for most of the season.

Said a while ago that whilst we were just about getting results he wouldn't get any criticism for starting Wout. Even though its clearly the wrong thing to do.

Now the results aren't happening you see the criticism coming in.

Way too many pundits and fans are blinkered by short term results. They don't see performance. We've been gettimg awsy with it for a good while now. This team has a long way to go.

It's not ETH's fault. He needs players. But he badly needs to get it right in the summer. Has to be spot on.

If he does not trust any of them, what is wrong with giving our kids a more legitimate shot rather than wasting everyone's time with the same old crap? Van Gaal lost his job because he persisted with the same old crap (some players and poor tactics), Mourinho lost his job because he persisted with his own old crap (negative football and cronyism at certain positions), and Ole lost his job because he persisted with another kind of crap.

If it were for me, Malacia should be our stand-in full-back if one of AWB or Shaw cannot play. McTominay should never play for us once again when we have Koobie Mainoo allegedly capable of doing a better job in that role. Pellistri should start games as a clear warning shot against Antony's own complacency.

As for today, subbing off both Varane and Licha when Dalot was the weak link at the back was criminal. What the hell was Ten Hag even thinking on that?

In the top four, already won a trophy, quarter final of the EL and has us in the semi final of the FA Cup. He has a chance of winning three trophies in his first season. Seriously, what is the point of him?

I agree that coaches need time to build a successful team. While Ole received criticism, we should support the current coach and avoid abusive behavior. Let's continue to support Manchester United.

I think winning the carabao cup went to his head a bit too, not only to the players'. That "open letter to the fans" and such.

Let's see how he handles this situation now, things could go very wrong very quickly.

I would've played Fred and McTominay, at least the former has a habit of getting on the ball in this partnership while Sabitzer disappears from the picture.

This wasn't the game for Sancho, Fred was the one that should've been subbed on at that moment and he could've also come on for Antony if he was that knackered. At least, that could've given us a bit more bite in our vacant midfield.

The players don’t look bothered if they get top 4. Today there was nonchalance aplenty and got what we deserved. Very worrying especially after an international break.
