Not totally like them of course but i won't be complaining if Man United became more street wise and use whatever it takes to earn at least a draw.
Could see that late Arsenal winner coming and nothing was done to slow down or curb their momentum.
I hear you, but i'd argue that we should be looking at the bigger picture, atm. If we can agree that ETH is trying his best to build something good and sustainable at OT, we'll have to accept the bumps in the road. Nobody's perfect.
People (not you) were losing their marbles after City put six past us at the start of the season. Why did we go man-to-man against Pep, why did we try to chase the ball when we know that they are the best at keeping possession, we played right into their hands etc. ETH chose to focus on the same things he did today: The mistakes and the mentality of the team. Since then, and before the trip to Selhurst Park, we had 16 wins 2 draws and 1 defeat in 19 games (all comps).
We have a team builder at the helm. This means that we're playing the (relatively) long game. There are going to be good days, not so good days and some very bad days. Because creating a team that can win football matches by trying to play football isn't an easy thing. And the people who can do it are in high demand. I understand that it can be frustrating, but the message has to get through to the players: "We'll play the way we have trained to play. There's no other way". We'll take some beatings, but imagine if we learn to keep our cool under such pressure as today.
I am saying this because i don't think he'll change much. The way his Ajax side lost to Spurs by not killing the game off can tell you a thing or two about how he sees the game. When we were seeing Arsenal being all over us, ETH was probably seeing open spaces to exploit on the counter. It's an approach that will do us good in the long term.
I actually agree that we need to learn how to slow things down, but i also think he took several steps back and did a lot of rearranging after the horrible start to the season regarding our defensive setup. Let's wait and see. And we did some time-wasting at the end of both halves today, but it wasn't enough.
