Why is he called Disco Mirror? I keep reading it in the Disco Stu voice in my head from Simpsons when I see that twitter handle.

I hope Ten Hag becomes a success story at United. But I'm skeptical. He comes from a much smaller league where he is the manager of the biggest and best team. It will be something else in PL. Ajax have bought an incredible number of young players and we often hear about those who succeed. But there are also some great talents in the club that Ten Hag have been really tough on when you consider their age. Players who have been bad in a few matches and then rot on the bench without getting the chance again.

Next, I'm skeptical about whether a manager who is especially used to young talent can handle our squad, where there are some first team players who need to know their place.

I'm probably being criticized for my skepticism on this page. So did I when I was skeptical about hiring Rangnick.

I hope I'm wrong and Ten Hag will be a bigger success than even Sir Alex (although less can do it too).

A lot to be unsure about, but Ajax is also a very high pressure role where fans can turn on managers even if they don't play a certain way. He had to overcome a lot of adversity and mockery in the media in his early days at Ajax before earning credibility in his system. That should bode well for us.

I was dismayed by Moyes' appointment, wanted Mou instead. I knew van Gaal was past it, though I didn't underestimate him enough. By the time Jose got appointed to Real, his tenure there made me very skeptical about him. I didn't rate Ole from the start. I made a couple of posts about Martial and Rashford bombing after their signature season. So now I'll tell you to keep faith in Ten Hag. He might not win us the league, but he will upgrade the squad, will win us a few trophies. He will, I predict too, lead us to the CL quarters and semis quite often (depending on how long he stays here). I will go on record and say that Ten Hag might get second place at most, especially if neither Pep or Jurgen up sticks. So Ten Hag will be everything that people wanted about Ole. Believe in Luffy.

I hope 10hag going to use the same Felix Magath’s methods to brutalise the players (trainings during the night and at 6 am)

Get that league won so can start work in earnest on this rebuild and finally some solid info from the Utd journos on transfer targets. I cannot stomach many more days of this City stuff.

Is it me or does Erik Ten Hag joining feel like it’s taking ages to come around? Seeing teams like City signing players like Haaland really does depress me. I just pray we don’t hear the same thing we’ve heard with our previous 5 managers whereby they need some time to assess the players they have at their disposal before deciding on where they wish to upgrade malarkey that will set us back atleast 8 weeks in the summer.

I am so desperate for us to be done with our business before we leave on Tour but I know that will not happen.

Im reading Erik wants the squad back 2 weeks early. That’s a good start. In an ideal world; the players would recognise they owe the fans nothing but blood sweat and tears next season. Forget the holiday and get to work. Burnout? How can you be burnt out after last season? Get back to work. No holiday. This club needs a reset and it seems like we’re heading in that direction. I’m reading people are leaving the club daily and to be honest, I expect no less. The club needs to be independently reviewed. For being independently inept.

If these rumoured upcoming Zoom calls to each of the players is true, I hope he makes it clear from the get go: You get fit, or you get out.

I also like the idea of him talking to them individually. Cuts down the dressing room side-eyes.

This is sure, Rashford is in dubai 6 months/ yr

Hope this is true because it sounds like much easier problem to solve than we need 10 new players to start playing his style of play.

Fitness conditioning can be achieved in 1 pre-season or at least get to a very good level.

Hope i'm in the wrong, but i think that's down to our players getting overpaid too. Imagine getting wages more or less, the same as Salah or VVD without the same contribution.

Absolutely spot on, our ludicrous wages will hamper us for years and years to come (if we ever get out).
I hope that City paying Haaland such a high wage will eventually cause them some similar issues.

I share the same opinion, extremely skeptical but I'm not sure if there's any manager in the world that can do anything with the current state of our club.

We definitely don't need 10 new players.

Well we probably do if we want to win the league or CL. But that's not likely to happen for at least a few years anyway, and we'll naturally bring in a few players each summer. People just need to set realistic expectations

I should have been more specific, we don't need an entirely new first team as is being stated.

Even just at a simple example, a team with Varane at centre back can obviously win a Champions League.

I think there will be a good number of players that people will change their opinion of if we are well coached and the fitness levels improve.

Which players will suprise us?

My guess on incoming is 3 or at most 4.
The spine will be strengthened with transfers in combined with loans returning and some youth players being promoted to the squad.
The required two weeks earlier return for the next season is get fitness up for those who want to be here after those zoom calls.

He wants to get as much training done as possible while the days are long and it gets dark later. His genius is already showing.

My guess?

Shaw, Lindelof, Fred, Sancho (not sure if it is a surprise but some seem to have written him off), Bruno, maybe Rashford.

Varane and Ronaldo probably wouldn't surprise anyone by doing well. I also wonder if more could be gotten out of De Gea outside of shot stopping with the right training.

Good luck to 10Hag and Ajax tonight... I think he can wrap up the league and then really start looking ahead to next year. In fact, if he blows the league now I hate to think how the media and some fans will react to it.

Quite the emphatic victory in his final home match for Ajax to seal the title.

Now on to Manchester! Hope he can achieve similar things at OT

No love for Telles, Dalot? Do you think he can fix Rashford's attitude?

Not for me on Telles and Dalot.

Rashford I am totally in two minds about. He clearly has a lot of talent and has played some really good football with us but he has been so poor and not done the basic things he could have done, last chance saloon for me next season.

Also feel the same with Rashford, if only he become more team player. The way he obsessed to beat his man tell me he's not on the right mindset. I'd milk the hell of Ronaldo if it's me in his shoes.

I wish that I have your positivy. I just do not trust them.

Yeah I don't blame you, I think this season is enough to warrant wanting an entirely new squad.

I just look at players like Varane and Sancho who have been very good elsewhere in functional teams and that shows me that there has been something in the coaching and the way the team is set up that makes players perform drastically below what they are capable of. That is not meaning this year does not leave a lasting effect on how I view the players and that they should not have done a lot more regardless of those factors. I just know they are capable of more as they have proved it.

Is the guy actually going to take a week off at least?
Only namely I guess. He will up his intensity of studying our games this season and last season even when he is on vacation as I imagine. He is obviously a hardworking person and his brain will hardly stop thinking our situation.
