Will get criticised for his changes but the more serious issue is the flaccid attack that prompted him to try and force things.

Bringing Maguire on as a CF is a sign that you have a CF problem.

Well that was totally dumb.

Lindelof off, Casemiro in defence, Rashford as a 10 and Maguire striker :wenger: I don’t understand any of that.

 Everyone needs to relax
Exactly  . It was quite obvious what he was trying to do. They outnumbered us in midfield so he brought a midfielder on to counter that without sacrificing an attacker. It might not have worked, but at least he tried. I would have thought after years of tactically inflexible managers some people would welcome a manager daring to be bold.

Love this man but he dropped the ball massively tonight - those second half antics were beyond Pep in CL-level silly

the long ball towards McT/Casemiro worked during the Chelsea game. Didnt work today but reactions here are ridiculous yet again

Midfielder as a CB.
Striker as a No 10.
CB as a striker.

Aye, makes sense. But at least he tried.

I have a lot of faith in Ten Hag but he shat the bed today.

There was no need to change the shape as early as he did. I thought we looked fine and, had we continued playing, I think we would have scored again.

Taking a body out of the back line ruined our build up. Worse, instead of changing it he doubled down. I don't think we played any football for most of that second half.

Hoofing it to Maguire is the least Ajax football I can imagine. Let's no so that again.

Did the same against westham. His changes change the shape as well as puts players put of position then we get a situation where there is no cohesion.

When you want a goal, you need to stretch them. That's the most basic thing about football or at least I thought.

It is weird that his usual second half's tactic does not do it much whether we are winning or needing to score. It is not like we have quality CM or inside AMs/fowards like City to build up from the middle. His usual first sub is Tommy...

A bad day at the office. Thought bringing Bruno back into our midfield would've done the trick. But all the subs were weird and didn't do much.

Absolute criminal in-game management. This is the kind of shit an amateur would do on FM.
That was legitimately the worst use of subs I've ever seen.

The 3 at the back was awful, Rashford at number 10, Maguire up front for 15 minutes, the long balls from the half way line.

It actually baffles me how that could happen at any level of football.

Nothing wrong with going route one. It's not like we had other options. Bunch of drama queens in here. Wow.

Love him so far but that was shitstain management in the second half. What the feck was he thinking?

Went all ‘Big Game Pep’ in the 2nd half, being too smart. Went long far too early. His worst performance so far. Báld fràud-esque.

I’m not being too critical of that second half to be honest. It was the equivalent of going ‘all out attack’ on FIFA. The only option we had on the bench was Rashford so let’s try something different

Caf on ETH after one bad half

this to me is the ridiculous reaction.

it’s a football forum. It’s for discussion.

no one is saying he should be sacked, or anything… just calling it for what it was.

a questionable change in tactics that backfired.

Reactions: sizzling sausages
Dreadful management. Absolutely dreadful management. I was having panic attacks because everything was from LVG's playbook.

Only thing I can think re the Maguire decision is he really wanted to play that way and showing the board he needs a striker signed to do it.

Main issue was the change of formation so early in the second half, don’t care too much about the rest

Massive overreaction on here, look at the bench and what attacking options we had

I think he is good and he of course has my support but how the feck has he still not realised playing our most creative player out wide completely isolates nullifies him EVERY TIME. Stop playing Bruno there, I just about get it when we are trying to hold on but not starting

I am sure the board knows that we need a striker. It is not like Ronaldo still has 5-year contract and they were open to sell Martial just a few months ago.

You should probably watch the game rather than going off what commentators say. McTominay and Casemiro were both clearly in midfield. Maguire was up there to win balls (if you ever watch Barcelona play I've seen them do the same with Pique many many times). The only strange decision was Rashford but he wasn't really at 10 he was attacking that left half space and we've seen Bruno on the right many times this season.

Anyway, he tried something new and it failed - it happens.

That was poor from him. Maybe he is just trying out things but whatever that was shouldn't be repeated
