Rashford and Sancho being the scorers and Varane and Martinez putting on a great performance like that should also boost the confidence of these players which was already rock bottom.

It will also justify Maguire dropping. If either Varane or Martinez had put on a shaky performance, we wouldn't have heard the end of it from the media about dropping Maguire for either of them. No one will talk now.

Huge, huge win.

Don’t mind that guy, his hopeless.
Than come up with a better rebuttal rather than a child like response. Even Neville asked in the interview, how come we didn't play with such an intensity against Brentford or Brighton. I m happy to finally see it, but I wanted this at the beginning of the season. Hopefully, we won't turn back to the way we played before next game. It will be up to the manager to ensure that.

Yeah... Ole is gone, some fans need to get over it already
Whether people like it or not this is very similar approach to the prior two full time managers, which suits the players. Just isn't what most fans expected from ETH, but I think anyone will take a result tonight. Be interesting to see if it continues

It's not over yet. Put your pants back on until the games over.

Regardless of result, the performance first 60mins alone gives us the benefits you mentioned.

Ole tactics? There’s some real jokers in here
100%

Exactly. This is not ETH keeping possession tactics. This is fast transitions like we saw under Ole. Great to see the intensity back. Wether people don’t want to acknowledge the tactics - is just stupid..

Obviously the players don't want to have extra training late at night, hehehe.
Well done Eric!!!

Back him to the hilt, get FDJ, Antony if they can.

Anyone who doesn't want to adapt can sod off.

Now is the time to back the first manager since Mourinho.

Except EtH is known for differing from PepG or LvG keeping possession at all cost philosophy, he prizes ball retention but isn't afraid to go vertical and utilizes both crosses and long passing from deep to progress the ball/counterattack.

The reason our possession stats looks bad is because we are still shit at keeping the ball as a collective, and our keeper is atrocious at it, doesn't mean he gave up on his approach 2 games into the season and resorted to 'Ole ball' to keep his job, that's crazy talk.

We have a counter attacking game plan. It is doing well as it has in these games for years. Stop trying all these wierd justifications haha. It is okay to play on the counter sometimes

Exactly. It takes a special kind of stupid not seeing what we are doing! We have 30% posession. I’m only surprised no one has called out “individual brilliance” This is the way we need to play, until we got players to play otherwise. Good call ETH!

 no
Ole team never press like this and the composure and structure are different.
It's clear that we are much better coached this time

Enlighten us with how many counters we have done this evening.

Just because the game is going back and forth doesn't mean we're playing on counters. For some of you it seems football has only 2 styles, either dominating possession with +60% or playing on counterattacking.

I'm watching the United Liverpool game what do you have on the box

Scoring a goal off a counter doesn't mean 'we have a counter attacking game plan'. We set out to overwhelm them, got our goal, didn't get a 2nd, then old habits reared their heads and we ceded possession to them. HT came at a good moment. Even so, just from looking at the sprint stat, we are clearly not sitting back and let Pool have the ball on purpose, we are pressing the shit out of them, problem is we are turning the ball over quickly ourselves.

I wish the recruitment wasn't so shite so he could've got his players in sooner. We need to back him but also be patient. This was a very positive night.

Awesome management today, reverted to tactics that actually suit the team and we did very well. Great sign for the future. Quality squad management too.

Great management of the game in these last 10 minutes. Both he and the team needed this win.

Love him.

He got it absolutely right tonight.

If he can actually get the players he wants in the coming transfer windows, United will be an amazing side in the future.
