They must actually think they are good  I can understand Ronaldo, he wants a striker in so he can leave, but Bruno and Rashford? Don't they realise they actually are the problem?
So they go to the board themselves to back the manager, and all you can do is criticise them for it? They can't bloody win with this braindead fanbase.

Though I think ten Hag should be given time I do not think he has done himself any favors thus far. When I read about transfer targets and I see a list of basically all Ajax players he had in the past and a couple of other eredivisie players alarm bells start ringing for me right away. He couldn’t have been casting a very wide net for player recruitment and I question either his vision for creating a strong new United team or his capability in scouting/recruiting (obviously that’s not all on him but he plays an integral role). United is a club with more means then Ajax and you should aim better then rebuilding your old squad.

Then to lose meekly at home to Brighton and get slaughtered by Brentford with the team clearly unprepared and confused, that reflects on him as well as the players. Losing games is one thing, some growing pains are expected, but there is no question that this is an alarming start to the season.

Unfortunately, United has gone through this merry go round too often now and there is no quick fix. Lack of vision at the top has led to a long series of poor, ill fitting recruitment of players, a musical chairs at the manager position with no continuity in style, and a constant state of being behind the right ball in all regards, always playing catch up and making desperate decisions. This is a massive mess to clean up for basically anyone. I’m not convinced that ten Hag is the man to fix it even though I had a strong impression of him from his time at Ajax. Regardless though, I think United has absolutely no choice but to keep on with him no matter how bleak this season looks to try and at least build a foundation forward that can be built upon the next few seasons. Maybe by the end of the season ten Hag will have gotten things rolling. I do believe tactically he is a sound coach. Hopefully the club finds out a way to properly support him in turning this ship around.

How about they just pull their finger out instead. ETH can argue this case himself. I'm guessing this was less 'we back the manager' and more 'we want better team mates so we can win'. Tone deaf.

I give up.

You see that as a bad thing?

Again, very little evidence that the effect it will have on them is making them run more in the next game because they are terrified of having to run during training again. It is beyond pointless. Maybe we should have them do sudoku or another logic based game so they don’t lose concentration during next game, and then make them clean training facilities so they can keep a clean sheet in the next game.

I am happy that you are happy with it, as it was basically the only reason it happened in the first place and why it was leaked to press. For me things like this are extremely worrying, if this is the idea our current coaching has to fix the issues with the team then I am pretty sure they won’t last long.

Your post is spot on.

All this negativity. You guys realise we win next Monday . Which we all know we can do!! we pass Liverpool in the table. Arteta at Arsenal poch at spurs everyone started badly if I remember correctly. The common thing is both wanted to change these teams play style. Takes awhile to really sink in

At least it is still mathematically possible for us to overtake Liverpool by a point after this week’s matches.

Now who doesn’t think that’s actually an improvement prior to the start of the season?

Actually I am really happy to see fans are not trusting new management blindly. Let them prove it to us that they really know what they are doing. Knee-jerk words are not really meant anything more than “we are watching you closely” . Also dont think we have more than £60-80M left for the transfers. I will give ETH till mid year to show he’s on the right track and minimum he’s got to put us in top4 by next October.

Yeah... There's a lot to criticize the players for, but this definitely isn't it.

Sorry to sound evasive, I have tried to find where I saw that information, but I can't - I have just read so much this weekend about football and especially Manchester United.

That was a bs tweet made up by some random account.

How would you have managed the Sunday training if you were the manager ?

Would you have screamed at them and told them there a simply horrible and don't deserve to be footballers ?

Would you have yelled at specific players, in front of everyone, tellimg them exactly what they are doing wrong ?

Would you have asked the players, what went wrong and what can we learn from this ?

Would you have told them calmly, that it was not good enought, they are on their last chance, each one of them, and if they don't buck up you will play their back up ?

How would you have handled it ? Not how would you like to have handled it, as obviously you can't beat them with a piece of 4x2

On what fantasy planet do these clowns who lost 4:0 to Brentford, and trashed last season, are winning next Monday? I respect optimism, but that is something else

Two games were so bad that ETH's already lost more than half of his authority and credibility. What he has said is completely at odds with reality. He overestimated the squad, overestimated the Dutch league, and more importantly overestimated himself. His misjudgment is one of the root causes of the current situation, but he reacts to it by punishing players as if they were school kids. Unless he admits his mistakes and change the course, things will be out of control pretty soon.

WUM is accurate for you.

I'm all for waiting for the plan to kick in, but I never considered getting thumped 4-0 in 35 minutes by Brentford to be part of the process.

What's next? Holding Liverpool to a marginal 1-0 win being considered an improvement?

I get how, as supporters panicking right now, we desperately want the club pushed into action. I just think that coming from those three, it's a bit farcical. Rashford is/should be potentially on the chopping block himself. Bruno has been poor for a long time. Ronaldo wants out anyway. I just think they're three players not in position to say anything.

Rashford plays like he can't be bothered every game. His attitude has been a disgrace. What's he saying to them?

"Please sign new players, I'm not good enough and am letting Erik down"?

If true, then this is an indication of how broken the dressing room is.

Besides the fact Ronaldo is a slippery Cnut, Rashford is sh*t and Bruno has lost his way, it says to me that they think some of their team mates aren’t good enough and are vocalising it.

It also indicates they may have done this behind ETH’s back which I consider to be an undermining of ETH. As a manager myself I’d be pretty pissed if my team did this.

I wonder how many of these sentiments are present on the training pitch, mealtimes and actually during games?

I'm not sure about this part. As it's well known that ETH wants transfers it might more have been like "guys, please listen to the manager you hired and support him"

But I guess we'll never know the details.

I’m not sure myself. Was just speculatin’ my brotha, scattering some seeds and seeing what takes root :)

By "some of" the fans how many are you including? United have millions of supporters world wide, and from what I can see no one is actually saying he should be sacked and only a tiny amount on this forum are even implying he should/will be any time soon. In fact the overwhelming majority appear to be fully behind him and agree that the players are a bunch of cnuts who should be binned off

Let's not exaggerate just for the sake of creating drama. There's enough drama surrounding the club as it is

I didn’t exaggerate anything, some of the comments from our own fans and media are quite frankly over the top and ridiculous.

Great. Now times that difficulty by 100. United is one different kettle of fish. No bigger job in football right now. Probably the toughest job in football he has walked into. Let’s hope he’s ready.

He needs new players, it doesn't really get any more simple than that.

He needs to drop

Shaw
Maguire
Bruno
Rashford

Yes there is plenty of other issues however for me they are the worst of the underperformers and seemingly the biggest egos.

I think the team plays better without them

Its not the MANAGER, sooner we understand better it is.

We need a complete rebuild to play the way he wants even if it means finishing midtable for next couple of years....We have to support him to change the club:

Players that really really have to go: CR, Martial, Rashford, Elanga, McT (Keep Fred), Macquire, AWB, DDG, Shaw, Macquire, Varane, Dalot.

Do you seen the problem here, essentially 80% change and no different to what RR was referring to, its an open heart surgery. You don't play a pressing system with a 37 year old who has never pressed in his life for God sake....You cant play a pressing system with a captain CB who is so slow and delusional on his positioning.. others are the same....

This is what Klopp did, this is what Pep did.....They were supported and in case of Liverpool recruited without breaking the bank too much.....

We need hungry players, we need players who do not come with English tax, we need young players who can be groomed into WC as pool did with Salah, Mane, Firminio etc.....

Everything takes time, we are not an elite club anymore so stop going after players like FDJ or Kane......We have to tear everything and start from scratch and I am sure we have a coach who can deliver this but we need courange!

None of our players are in a position to say anything. They have all been mostly complete garbage and embarrassed the club a ridiculous amount.

It's definitely the toughest. We have a terrible structure around the club. A bunch of people in jobs that they don't seem qualified for. A fanbase that is extremely pissed off, while also expecting the team to perform far better than it's capable of doing. The entire squad seems mentally drained and not in it together in the slightest. A squad that needs to be completely rebuilt. Not one player has played at a high enough level within the last year to win major trophies.

I don't think ETH would have expected it to be as bad as it actually is.

No disrespect but managing ultrecht is not the same, the media scrutiny, the weight of this badge and shirt coupled with the expectation. Managing egos this size and players of this profile. The fact everyone hates man United except it’s fanbase; the world is really enjoying this. Watching this.

players on massive contracts. He can’t just get rid of what he’s got and replace them. They can’t sell half these players even if they want to. He actually has to work with a lot of it and he knows that. This is without even mentioning the people above him.

what your saying is also true.. we probably need 5/6 more first team starts and a total overhaul but I’m pretty sure the level of this job is something that’s smacking him in the face right now and it’s only the very beginning. This job is like nothing he has encountered before. Doesn’t mean he can’t be successful..but he better buckle up it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Yes, I replied to someone above who said it’s as simple as buying new players. It’s so much more than that. Managing this club is something different.

Yeah the weight of the job and expectation is greater at United, but the fundamentals of building a successful team are the same anywhere. Football is football. He will succeed here if given adequate backing and support by the club

football isn’t football. There’s levels. Some jobs come with higher pressure, stress and expectation than others. Not every good manager can cut it here.. even if given new players. If it was that simple after 1 billion spent .. we could be in a much better position. We have bought very good players that have crumbled here. Players turn to shite here.We have seen this over and over again. It goes deeper than just players. This job is a massive one and it’s going to take big big big character and resilience to get it back to where it needs to be.

Just saw it. Everything in your post is spot on. The expectations at this club are immense. Absolutely everything you do is magnified. It breaks people and I think it's broken most in this squad. Hopefully ETH can deal with it.

In my opinion what we have done wrong in the past is: Different kind of trainer with different kind of playing style what result in different type of players. We should think about: How would we like to play in the future. Is that like Mourinho (defensive he is always good) or a trainer like Ten Hag who would like to play in possession like in Holland or Spain.

For me it doesn't matter but its crucial for Man United's future. Because if its like Ten Hag with a lot of possession, we need that kind of players. Players who are comfortable at the ball. Get every transferwindow a few of them and it will be better step by step. But if Ten Hag leaves or get fired and we get another manager who likes to play completely different, the ''possession players'' will get a difficult time and will be sold (without profit) to get his type of players and we start all over it again.

If the playing style for everyone is clear, the recruitment can also continue searching for new players. When did we buy a player like Vinicius Junior? Never. We always let the manager decide what kind of player he needs. This season aswell. Its only the players Ten Hag knows, while it should be so simple.

What kind of striker you need?
- Strong guy to hold the ball
- Fast guy for counterattack
- Technical skilled so he's usefull in the possession game

In the last 10 years we had all kind of different type of strikers. Like we had different kind of defensive midfielders or different type of central defenders.

exactly. Even looking at the players.. how the fold here.. internationals who have cut it at other clubs come here and crumble. I can’t imagine the level of scrutiny and abuse they get. Not defending them but it’s something you or I don’t have to deal with. This lot are broken. It’s got to be mental at this point. No chance we don’t have a better squad than teams that are smashing us right now.

To be honest, any point against Liverpool would be an improvement to the last 2 matches.

When a progressive manager does join a new team unused to a progressive style of play, shocking losses do pop up here and there. Let's see what happens going forward, unfortunately, Liverpool aren't the sort of team you plan to get back on track with!

We've seen teams trying to play progressively thumped 8-0 and the like, hopefully it doesn't get to that. I hope for the manager's sake and the team's confidence we can get a couple of wins on the bounce from somewhere fast

I mean.... yes?

Liverpool hammered us twice last season and if you look in the matchday thread you'll see 87% of posters think Liverpool will win this match. Off the back of two bad opening defeats a marginal 1-0 loss would absolutely be a step forward. So much so that I think there's very little chance of it happening.

Also you probably should have expected some results like the Brentford one. Even when Pep took over at City he had 4-0 losses to teams like Everton in a season where he experienced his biggest ever losses and his worst run of results as a manager. And that was with a vastly superior squad to ours. We were always going to take some hammerings this season.

It's just dissapointing that they came along so quickly. But then if you told us back in May that we'd go into the opening two games only having brought in the players we did, most people on here would have predicted bad things.

It is not a flaw imo. It’s progress to do something that is not easy to accomplish. Great things take time. I am standing firm behind him.
It is a flaw though if it happens every season or everytime some important player gets injured. Because that is what happened at Ajax. Ten Hag seems relies to much on the same players, so when one of them is injured it all falls apart. At Ajax it wasn't really a big problem, seeing they usually still won the matches, even if it was just barely. But here it could be a bigger problem.
