Delighted with the news EtH is staying on, was always the correct decision for me. Now let's get the ball rolling on getting ready for next season.

At least it's a decision. Extending the contract is pretty insane but oh well.

Bayern and Chelsea hired Championship managers. Liverpool hired the Aldi Ten Hag. The manager market is currently dreadful.

Right call to stick with Ten Hag and fix the footballing structure above him.

"Right decision", good luck selling that when Southgate is managing us in January

I really want to be proved wrong by ETH, but just can't see him being the guy after overseeing a season like last season. He won't get time this season for that many embarassments, that's for sure, he'll have to start strong or it'll be curtains very quickly.

This is the best outcome. He gets a fair go at another season, with hopefully some good signings, while everyone above him settles in and starts planning. If he flops, we are in a much better place to hire the right manager, and if he does well we are nicely into a rebuild with a group of players exposed to a manager and his ideas for a number of years.

The contract is of no concern, it is likely going to make it easier to get rid if we have another horrendous season, while giving him more if we do well.

Probably some new terms and conditions as well.

This fecking club :lol: Keep rewarding mediocrity, I've already checked out of the 24/25 season

Well no matter the manager, this is one of the hardest jobs in world football after Glazers putting the club in such a huge mess and i think Ten Hag have handled the Ronaldo and Sancho situations really well. We had huge injury problems aswell.

Yes we were shit last season and we should have played more defensive. Ten Hag may not have not been enough pragmatic but we can compare this alittle to Klopp and Liverpool. Klopp refused to give up on his playstyle and they were bad in 2 seasons but after that they got better and this is what we have to hope for with ETH.

What is the point of keep sacking managers and start over again every 3rd year, sometimes we just need to stick with it.

Sir Alex Ferguson once said "Stand by your manager" and i think we just need to do just that this time and suddenly next year all pieces will fall into place for the team.

CMOON UNITED!

Another hit for the English media credibility. Weeks and weeks of some amount of idle speculation and hear say they were running with and certain Ten Hag would not be managing Man United next season.

I'm pleased , I don't agree with everything he does , but I rate him . I think he will have learned an awful lot from last season .

I don't want to keep ETH, but if they're not sacking him they have to extend. If not it would undermine him.

Pleased with this, switching managers has done nothing for us recently let's see if he can actually build something

To me it sounds like
Season finished
ETH holiday while club does review
Review complete
ETH stays

Everything else has been clickbait paper noise to fill column inches and get traffic to websites, pure guesswork by the journos, glad to see no unwanted leaks from the club coming out, this could be a fun window if that's the case

Glad for him. He'll know he hasn't done good enough this season, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as we have been plagued with injuries.

Going into next season, he really needs to find that balance. He needs to address the fact that we are easy to play against but also think about how he's going to get the best out of our attacking players.

Rashford Hojlund ?
Mainoo Bruno
?
Shaw Martinez ? Dalot
Onana

Get those three signings right, and I don't see why we can't replicate our first season or better under ten Hag.

Are we going to see a different style of football? This 1 man midfield with wide open gaps and treating the ball like hot potatoe il be happy if that changes.

Needs to be backed now with the right recruitment.

If we sign 3 CMs I will back him.

But we will probably keep Amrabat and sign some other underwhelming player he worked with.

People would have complained whatever the outcome of this review.

The reality is the options we had were managers who have either failed at top clubs in recent years or have no experience managing a top 6 team...in any league.

It would have been a big gamble, and considering ETH has won things under the shambles of the Glazers, he deserves some credit.

We give him until December, do another mid season review and take it from there. I think this was the best option.

This.

Don't know why everyone is throwing their toys out the pram. It's the best possible outcome considering the situation the club finds itself in still bringing in more backroom staff for the new regime.

Whenever Liverpool were under Klopp in the PL, they were never this bad tbh.

Why extend the contract?

It just means having to pay out a lot more if by December things don't improve and they decide to sack him.

Surely you would wait and see how the seaosn progresses, THEN offer a contract?

Club tradition, we extended Mourinho and Solskajer's contracts a few months before sacking them.

It's probably the wrong decision.

BUT I wasn't massively excited by any of the other options and Ineos still haven't got their back room house in order yet so it's not the worst decision.

Decision made and let's back him. He was lucky to last as long as he did but it's difficult to sack a manager that has won 2 trophies in 2 years.

Let's see how it goes.

I’m pretty sure we know about this because it’s been leaked?
More likely it’s just always been the case and they are making it out to be news. The only fact we know is Wilcox did an end of year review with ETH and that’s literally it. I’m sure Ineos did meet managers but the credible links for that dried up long ago and so we’ve had literally like a month of just rinse and repeat nonsense about {insert manager name} when the reality is they made their decision yonks ago. Again, I said this before, why would any owner feel the need to bow to journo pressure to say ‘we’re sticking with our current manager’, it makes zero sense.
