Why?

The clubs people bring up re: 'time' are Liverpool and Arsenal. Liverpool mounted a title challenge only one season after their first CL participation under Klopp (in which they reached the final). Arsenal mounted a title challenge under Arteta without even having qualified for the CL under him yet. Neither needed to be a "regular" CL team.

Not sure, to be honest.

I'm starting to think this place is actually/genuinely pretty much split down the middle.

The poll indicates as much - and I have a feeling that those who haven't voted are split along pretty much the same lines. Meaning: I don't think the non-voters are more or less likely to be either "in" or "out", they're split too.

There will - of course - be a meltdown no matter what, so if you like meltdowns, you'll be served in either case.

At this point I think most of us are more or less checked out for the summer

Like I said we need to become a regular champions league team before we can even dream of the title. Being in the CL regular will at least allow us to build a stronger squad and attract better players. And you never know we could win the league sooner rather than later in a one of season, when Guardiola leaves city it’s basically open season for everyone. It’s anyones to win. I mean even Leicester have won it in a one off season so anything’s possible. We all know that we’re not ready to challenge for the league for at least 2 more seasons.

You might be right and that's the problem right there. We should have been going into Ten Hag's 3rd season in the knowledge or at least hope that we could challenge. I get what you're saying mate but you qualify for the CL by virtue of challenging for and winning league titles. So that should be the aim instead of some long drawn out 4-5 year plan to come 3rd-4th.

Honestly think that if he stays will kick up the most juvenile fuss if you look at the hysterics they are currently producing while his future is being settled - not quick enough for their liking and it’s the end of the club as we know it and INEOS is a failed project.

I’d rather he stays at this point because I don’t like the alternatives and I think that’s the pragmatic position of most of the ETH in crowd. If he goes there isn’t going to be any toys out the pram, it is what it is but I hope they have a bit of imagination in picking his successor and it’s not any of Poch, Tuchel or god forbid… Southgate.

Besides we were 9 points off top four and beat the 4th placed team home and away - we were effectively challenging for top 4 until we fell away in March. So he is saying if we get the players in we will marginally improve - a poor return for the fees and wages we spend on players.

Indeed, I can't think of another club on the planet with one of the highest incomes, wage bills and annual transfer spends where aiming for 4th in your third year in the job would be acceptable.

You also have to consider that it's the beginning of summer, and some key employees in this process (e.g. the receptionists who are compiling and collating the notes from the review) could be on vacation. So you should push back that timeline by another month or two.

Yeah which is why I'm not really invested in it tbh. I'm more in the out camp but not that bothered if he stays either considering the managerial talent available at the minute.

I think you're probably right. SJR said something about "walking to the correct decision rather than running to the wrong one".

So your problem with him is that he is stubborn. I will take that. But he is a good coach, a winner and a disciplinarian. Now he have a technical director that is not Darren Fletcher, now he have people that knows football that can call him to order. I still don't think it's wise to bring in another manager now. A new manager will have so many battles to fight from day 1. Because like it or not, ETH has set a standard! A trophy per season

You did not understand what I said. What I mean in simple language is " ETH now have proper people to report to. People who demand good performance and result. The glazers are not football people, they are businessmen and Fletcher does not have that power to question ETH

You misunderstand the role of Fletcher. You’ve fallen for the old “but he has a technical director job title”. He may have had, but that’s not the job he was doing.
