This is the sinking of club standards people always complain about. How the hell can a club like Manchester United declare a season that hasn't even started yet a "write off"? There's absolutely no reason to write off an entire season before even a transfer window has started. This is the kind of justification that allows rampant incompetence to persist at the club. I just hope INEOS don't share your view.
We've spoken for years on here about how we need to improve the structure, we're in May and we've had a new technical director for 2 weeks, we have no director of football, no head of recruitment and a new CEO joining in July plus a squad that is utter crap and a manager who has lost the plot. That is not a good structure, hopefully we will have it by next summer. How do we build that in to a good team in 3 months?

I quite liked your sarcastic posts! Lean into it I say!!
I can’t, my brain can no longer process the sheer thought of someone being dumb enough to keep him. It’s just too ridiculous.

Oh look it's all going the exact way many of us predicted months ago. What a surprise.

Why the feck do we always have to end up humiliated and in shambles before the club acts, and before half the fanbase wake up and admit the manager is shit?

Same old depressing routine every single time.

At least this time the vast majority want him gone. He only has a handful of devout fans. Jose and Ole had far more devout fans.

Ten Hag is actually a coward.

He claims to have this idea of playing and this game model that runs right through the club. So why are we not seeing more kids filling the gaps in our squad. Van Gaal had Borthwick-Jackson. Is Wan Bissaka that much better than Harry Amass at left back?

If you are going to stick to this suicidal philosophy at least put round pegs in round holes.

That is one of my biggest gripes with Ten Hag. If you can't control injuries, at least show control by not playing certified failures over and over again.

The kids powered Van Gaal to the FA Cup at the very least.

We are not getting any bounce from Steve McClaren.

He can go as well. Feck him.

Unless INEOS take any action tomorrow, they will only prove to be nothing but a bunch of hot air incapable of hitting where it really matters.

I dont know, Potter?

Honestly at this point Id take somebody on a one year contract and try line up the long term replacement for end of next season.
Ye I like that idea. We need someone really to shore up this defence and make us tighter.

I think you'll get a bounce from anyone basically. The bounce is caused mainly by the fresh start, the chance for the players to show they are better than what they've shown.. even if it's largely bollocks because they just up their game for a bit then revert back to normal a while later

but I mean, who cares about that, it's just one game

Exactly this.

Clubs like Bournemouth are able to be proactive and change managers when they see bigger potential, while we have to wait for a total implosion every time. All for a pipe dream of a new Fergie.

Fair point, but does he have enough of what he wanted and have the club moved on the players he didn't want?

I'm not saying keep him, I just don't know what to do. The fact that there is no manager available I can envisage coming in and being a guaranteed improvements scares me. I'd rather see half the squad sold/released.
These things don't need to be and shouldn't be mutually exclusive. The wheels should be turning in the background getting the place cleaned out.

At the same time ETH has completely lost the team and can take it no further.

We look well on course for our worst ever league finish in the PL era, and our worst since 1989/90 (which was also the last time we finished with negative goal difference, which we'll likely do this season too). Surely he can't continue.

Sacked every manager since moyes for less than this. It simply wont continue

I voted "Yes", and it will remains so. It's pointless to sack him now... and there's also a notable degree of morbid curiosity. I want to see just how bad Arsenal, Newcastle, Brighton, and City are going to batter us? Could we surpass a -15 GD in just these 4 games? We all deserve to find out!

What the feck?

He is missing Shaw and Martinez. And time. I believe in 3 years and with the same genius tactics plus some Eredivisie rejects we will win the title. Next Fergie guaranteed.
He can take Shaw and Martinez back to the Eridivisie with him and win that trophy. He's not winning anything else at United.

I was there at OT for the friendly against Lens in the preseason and we were so bad that day but I genuinely thought it was ‘preseason’ so no need to worry. The 3-1 win massively flattered us.

9 days later we got outplayed against Wolves who had just hired a brand new manager the week before. They should have had a last min pen and to be fair deserved the three points.

Again you hope it’s just early on in the season and getting the points on the board was the main thing.

Fast forward to tonight and it’s just an accumulation of the whole disastrous season. It starts and ends with the manager. I really wanted that forward thinking attacking coach two years ago so I was happy with the hire of ETH.

After seeing the passive awful play I now want us to go after a coach who’s going to install a ‘horrible’ group of players who show fight and will go toe to toe with City, Liverpool and Arsenal and not just be an inferior version.

Give me Simone or Conte and make us hated once again.

-3 goal difference in May. But he deserves another season though, so I've been told.

Give it to keano till the end of the season, really Just for the comedy value he will provide.

At least we will have a laugh.

I’ve been ten Hag out since September and I haven’t been proven wrong. He should have been sacked months ago and we’d have had a chance at CL qualification still.

Not sure I even want him to manage the cup final at this point.

Oh, shit. I had no idea! They look great!… against us :(

takes 4 years and multiple transfer windows to remotely change how you are doing on the pitch. You know nothing about football!

I’d imagine the board would allow ETH to manage the FA Cup final? I’d be happy if he was sacked tonight but seems rather unlikely.

:wenger: no. No I don't want that. Which team do you support?

Genuine question did anyone look at the back line available tonight and think “we’re going to do well today?”

Ye I like that idea. We need someone really to shore up this defence and make us tighter.

feck give it to ole for a month if we want tuchel or amorim. We cannot go into the cup final like this it could be reputation ending obliteration

I'm watching now thinking this is maybe now rock bottom.

I think I'm concluding it's the players... AND the manager
