I like Antony for this; he‘s a character with proper spirit. It is fecking hilarious though.Bit surprised because I thought Antony would just play where needed. Must have fancied himself to get the winner
Anyway, Ten Hag was spot on in the end

Banging your head against a wall mate.
I said yesterday, anyone overstating the positives OR negatives yesterday, should take a break yet here we are with certain people are lauding a win for Manchester United fans over fellow. . . Manchester United fans because backing a manager is more paramount than backing the club.
I don’t frequent other forums or take in other fanbases as I do United but feck me we are a dislikable bunch.
How is one very good season and one relatively poor one a poor tenure? Let me guess, last season doesn't count because reasons, or last year wasn't very good because reasons with zero perspective behind them.
Exactly what I was getting at mate.Yeah, I don't like most of my fellow fans since around the time Mourinho went on his Sevilla rant. The fan base has been pretty divided over managers ever since.
It was easy with SAF. We had an untouchable manager who you might have disagreed with some of his actions/decisions, but ultimately knew he would get it right 90% of the time.
Such as?The only ones who shed more bitter tears than the Scousers were the Erik haters.
For me it is rather the cult of personality that always gets you in these situations. Probably it is because of the unparalleled impact Ferguson had on your club but you're always looking for that one strong leader who saves you or the one player who lifts you on the next level. In this case, you have granted Ten Hag more say on transfer activities than any other manager in the world including Guardiola and Klopp. I mean, after ages you've finally adapted the best practice of implementing a DoF and shortly after you make him a lame duck again and grant the last authority over transfer activites to the head coach.
I don't think there's any other club in the world who is so focused on individuals as you. Always a player on the market that is far too good to miss out on. Immovable support of the manager. And when things go south, it turns towards the other extreme ("make an example out of Sancho and let him rot on the bench for the next two years, feck the 40+m that will cost us").
Getting 75 points and a league cup isnt a very good season. No its not zero perspective. We've spent 400 mil under his tenure and have regressed from that season. Being spanked 7-0 by Liverpool and broken new negative records. We are parody of Rawk who at least managed a title challenge twice and made 2 cl finals wining one.
@Zehner .
I think this wonderful post from one of the Sancho threads deserves another outing today. . . [I’ve removed the middle paragraph as it’s in particular Sancho focused] but this sums up the fanbase perfectly on a day like today.
What did I do now?Today I learned there is a tribal and illogical nature to sports fandom. You have opened my eyes to a brand new world.
It literally is zero perspective

Wow. Talk about agenda.

Ye because Ole knew that to beat city you had to sit deep and counter with pace and him playing under Fergie in some of the best counter attacking teams he knew how to set up. ETH will now know that to beat Liverpool you play them at their own game. Press them and attack quickly. That's a huge win for ten Hag. The type that might save his bacon if he can follow it up with a top 4 finish and a trophy.
Who knows what will happen. United could go on a run or just as easily slip up vs Brentford. That's the type of team we are.
I do think he'll survive the season though. Villa and Spurs are a bit wobbly. One of them will falter.
He is absolutely blessed in terms of cup draws. Liverpool aside, that's been a near perfect set of opponents. Just needs Chelsea to do him a massive favour.
The 7-0 aside, it seems that Liverpool are becoming for him what City was to Ole. Although they will be out for revenge in a few weeks.
75 is quite a good points total for a first season. Why bring in the 400 mil total spend when he didn't spend that in his first season?
On the flip side, for the second season - you can use the full 400m in the argument but more importantly, we're on track for 63 points at our current PPG this season. For context Moyes managed more (64). Some of it is injuries but let's see. We might go on a run and get 70+ points, a CL finish and maybe a cup - that'll give him enough credibility to go another year atleast. Or we remain inconsistent and get to 65 pts and finish 6th. That's sack worthy for me.
Brilliant! Ole and Mourinho was fired in their third full seasons. That we overachieved last season is fact rather than opinion.Ole finished 2nd. Mourinho finished 2nd. Lvg finished 5th and the FA cup. We fired him. We are now in 2024.
Im not sure whether this is a Man Utd forum. The league cup is a big trophy for Swansea.
I never felt vindicated by yesterday’s results because I don’t feel like anything I’ve said in here needs vindicating. Those responses are due to the fact that some of the posters in here seem to care more about being vindicated than the success of the club they claim to support. They have earned those call outs and long may they continue to be called out. What did I do now?
I’m just tired of when we win a game, people pop up to take a jab at fellow fans. Likewise when we lose one, people take pops at each other.
Whole post game has been, ‘I was right’ instead of enjoying a phenomenal win.

It's decent. People get too extreme both ways about it. Ole got 74 and an european final and people still wanted him gone because there wasn't enough progress. It's enough credit in the bank to finish this season, but unless he goes on to beat city in the cup final, I think the writingis still on the wall.75 is quite a good points total for a first season. Why bring in the 400 mil total spend when he didn't spend that in his first season?
If he manages to get us top 4 and the cup then fair play to him and the team.Isn‘t our 2024 form a turn around? All he has to do is maintain it.
Wow. Talk about agenda.
You’re wrongWhat did I do now?

Innit.
Not everyone can feel the Liverpool rivalry. Most United fans are giddy because it means so much as side from yesterday's game being pure box office and all. Perhaps the most exciting game I've seen for 20 years plus.

About?You’re wrong
Who said you needed vindication? You seem pre-occupied by it if I’m honest.I never felt vindicated by yesterday’s results because I don’t feel like anything I’ve said in here needs vindicating. Agenda or a poor take?Wow. Talk about agenda.
It is, and the fact that you personally disagree actually further entrenches it as a fact. Your spout nonsense - get proven wrong - double down - get proven wrong again cycle is boring. It isn't though.

Indeed what to about them is another issue, one that for the main part seems to have been ignored by ETH and that is the only issue which concerns meIt‘s easy to point to issues; we all see them. What to do about them is another matter.
I believe we can‘t play a high line with the cb‘s we have available. To be more compact we would have to play a low block all the time and counter attack.
If we did this, Ten Hag would also face big criticism.
We are winning games with the current approach. While we concede a lot of shots, we actually outscore the opponent 3 out of 4 games, so I say let‘s get on with it.
Why would you expect us to be terrible next game? We have started games well lately.
Doesn't take away from the fact yesterday was an iconic match.
Perhaps the most exciting game I've seen for 20 years plus.
Let's remain sane in all this. No way this was the most 'exciting' game for us I last 20 years.
Probably you've not seen every game for us in the last 20 years or you meant game you've seen live.
Even Brentford game this season was more dramatic than this Liverpool game in pure drama.
