The poison being spouted in this thread by a collection of petulant nobodies with limited knowledge of the game is baffling considering you’re Man Utd fans. Unworthy Man Utd fans, but Man Utd fans nonetheless.
I sincerely hope every football match we win under ETH makes you miserable. If he does turn things around nothing you say in this thread will be taken seriously, you pack of overgrown toddlers.
I assume if he doesn't turn things around we should (continue to) not take anything you say seriously?

Are you a somebody with extensive knowledge of football?
Yes but I’ll stop watching football cold turkey before I have the slightest inclination to impress anyone that hurls insults at the manager of the club they support. League 2 managers shite more knowledge of football than well ever have, so what’s hilarious to me is the tactical critiques offered up in this thread. Whoever called ETH a knobhead wouldnt even begin to understand a detailed explanation of his tactics if he drew it with crayons to dumb it down.

Manchester United is 6th, 19 points off the top, with 11 league losses and a goal difference of -2 in March.

Manchester United finished last in a CL group that included Copenhagen and Galatasaray with a goal difference of -3.

I’d be more inclined to doubt myself if you did take what I said seriously and that’s the peak of relevance your opinion will ever have

You’ve done a great job reciting statistics. Very enlightening

 the list is quite shit I agree but I don’t think he can carry beyond this season
Of course he can. He did much better and so did the team last season. Everyone was singing his praises after the cup win. He hasn’t just become a bad manager over night. We have extenuating circumstances this year and I very much hope he gets at least next season to show what he can do with proper support.

I wouldnt be that surprised if he was given one last year under a new structure to show what he has.

This is madness :wenger:

He's honestly trying to gaslight fans into thinking nobody could get more from this squad. The guy that lost to Fulham, Palace, Brighton etc. I'm going to say it, if you believe this stuff then you're a straight up idiot.

You genuinely believe that playing without our best players doesn’t affect the performance of the team?
I don’t know what to tell you….

The post you responded to said nothing of the sort. Why have you chosen to make up an argument? Well we know why....

You genuinely think we're playing at our maximum levels? -2 goal difference, lost nearly half our games this season including against shite like Fulham, Palace, Forest, bottom of a CL group including Galatasaray and Copenhagen...I don't know what to tell you if you believe that. Do you honestly believe this is the best we can do?

If you believe this is our absolute maximum levels then, by that logic, you think no other manager in this earth could get more from this team? Not Pep, not Klopp?

Sir Jim has already stated he expects us to challenge in 2/3 seasons, that’s potentially another 5 years. Nothing to lose letting Erik see out his contract until next summer and judge his progress then, especially if we are going to clear out a bit this summer and rebuild a squad with a defined playing style.

Like all these Ten Hag apologists, he's just moving the goalposts at a considerable rate. They're like wannabe politicians in the way they can't answer an obvious answer if it's a negative on their guy. Instead they'll try to steer it in another direction or create a strawman argument. They just tie themselves in knots.

Nothing to lose? This is Manchester United, we should never take a 'nothing to lose' approach. And actually there's a lot to lose. If they stick behind him and he continues with the last 18 months of shit football then the fans will turn on Ineos quickly.

Malacia out for the rest of the season. Did they kill him in some freak accident, and all of this is a cover up? No one has seen him since the party pictures with him and Rashford at the start of the season.

Obviously it isn’t because we did much better last season, with the same manager.
I’ve stated before that we have a very good first 11 but there is a big drop off when we replace key players. Injuries have decimated our squad this season. You cant say that playing without a recognised striker, or with Lindelof/Amrabat at LB doesn’t affect performance. It’s clearly will.
We’ve also had Onana adjusting to a new country, new league, new team and wobbling a bit, Sale process creating uncertainty in the club, and the Greenwood and Antony situations as an off field distraction.
Key players in ETHs preferred system (Martinez/Mount/Casemiro/Hojlund) have been out for long periods (we’ve used 24 different back 4 combinations this season) and despite playing poorly and not being an entertaining watch we have at least been mostly scraping wins. We are still only 6th, we are in with a chance of a top 5 finish and we could win another cup. I don’t understand all the doom and gloom around Erik.

There will be something very satisfying about getting rid of many of these players before we do so with Erik if that is still necessary.

Even with how catastrophic this season has gone he still managed to reach 61 wins faster than Arteta and Klopp. He’s the joint first manager to reach 50 wins in Uniteds history.
Surely with all that’s going on in and around the club that’s worth something.

Not necessarily. That's a cherrypicked stat that by itself doesn't really tell us much. We don't draw many games so naturally he's going to have more wins as well as more losses than other managers.

Would draws be better? If we’d drawn 27 games we’d have 27 points and be around 15th in the league.

Cult of manager stuff is thankfully ending. In modern football, the traditional manager is now just a first team head coach who is disposable somewhat, as opposed to the football directors of a club who look after the mid to long term prospects at the club. Head coaches are a short term asset a lot of the time unless you’re a rare standout like Klopp or Guardiola.

A good football board can offset an inferior head coach too in my opinion. There’s plenty of head coaches who are probably adept at coaching and tactics, but are horrible at transfers and judging whether youth players are good enough. If there’s a transfer guru and a youth transition guru at the club who can do that job, then the pressure is off the head coach to do all that stuff and he can concentrate on his coaching of the first team.

I get the feeling that’s been our problem the past decade. Ferguson’s like an all-in-one unicorn who could do all that stuff by himself and literally no-one else could when he retired, and that’s why he’s arguably the greatest ever.

the truth fans don't want to admit is that as a club, we failed to truly implement
You’ve done a great job reciting statistics. Very enlightening
What are you on about. He's giving you facts. You're the one burying your head in the sand. You're acting like you don't know the stats, so he's giving it to you.

Would draws be better? If we’d drawn 27 games we’d have 27 points and be around 15th in the league.
That's not what I said. My point is that cherrypicked stats like "most wins in first X games" don't tell you anything by themselves.

You're not answering my question and you're claiming I've said things that I haven't said. I'll assume that you're avoiding it because you know the answer to my question, it's very obvious, but you just don't want to say it.

They tell you we win a lot of games with Erik as manager over a season and a half. It is a generalised indicator of success, in the same way our number of games lost is used to beat and berate the manager.

I don't judge him against Arteta and Klopp in their earlier seasons.. Arteta inherited a fractured squad, got rid of their bigger abs me established players in favour of younger players to look at being successful in the long term. He also instilled a good underlying style of football that we evident even when they weren't getting results. The end result of that is exactly what they were aiming for. Klopp also had a poor team at the start, the teams he was putting out in his first season are night and day from the quality they have now or even we have now.

The thing is we've still not got a discernible and credible style of play, even with our best team. We never control a game and have come close to dropping points in many of our wins. Even after a solid first season, many talked about all these things as being of concern and areas where we needed to improve. Naturally, with these things not improving, results have caught up.

Unlike some, I also actually think our players are better than they're given credit for. Certainly good enough to beat some of the teams we've lost to and largely been outplayed by. The likes of Bournemouth, who beat us 3-0 but should have scored even more. Fulham, Palace, Forest. Even with our weaker teams, I think we had enough to put these teams to bed comfortably. I'm judging us on what we've had available and I still don't think it's been anywhere near good enough. But not only are they beating us, I also see managers that have or number. They out think Ten Hag, they make adjustments that swing games and he doesn't have answers.

Somebody else has already pointed it out to you, but I've never said not having our best players won't affect performances.
You said he should be getting more from this squad, and was ‘gaslighting’ fans into thinking nobody else would do better.
As the better players are part of the squad, them not being available will affect the performance of this squad. And if you accept that then you have to go back on what you said and admit that maybe he is getting the maximum out of the remaining squad members who aren’t as good as they should be.

He's failed to use the money wisely

I'm one of those who wants to keep ETH but it's hard to say the other side don't have a case. He bought Antony and he appears to have caused an injury crisis by over training tired players. He's not above fault. I still think we should stick with him but he's made some unforced errors for sure. That said, much of what he's blamed for is down to the Glazers.

A sensible and reasonable post. I agree entirely

Signings haven’t been good at all, but he cannot take the heat form that alone. Scouts could have vitod a deal, as could the owners and Arnold/Murtough could have negotiated harder to secure plays at a better price.
Scouts don't have the power to do that.
