If we go back to only sitting deep and waiting for a counter we can just go back to Mou. At least he knew how to set up a team for that. Anti football

What he's said after City scored the first... not sure what he's watching

"Then you are disappointed, we have to accept it and still were had the opportunties to at least get one point, but the win was also possible."

Yes, but only if we consider the Premier League years.

Not even close from an All-Time perspective, unfortunately. We've lost more than 20 league matches quite a few times with a 42 match schedule (including a season where we wound up with a goal differential of minus 62!)

Even in the modern era with a 38 match schedule, we lost 16 league matches in Alex Ferguson's third full season as United manager.

The gulf is greater though. 79 points to win the title there.

Injuries or not, whether he deserves it or not — I just don’t see INEOS looking at everything and deciding he is the guy to take the team forward when they are looking to reset everything, I don’t see how it gets better in his third season, my guess is they will make a decision by the end of March internally and it won’t be positive for Ten Hag. At this point it’s not even so much about league finish and such, it’s more about if you can see Ten Hag actually providing what INEOS will look for from their coach, I like the guy but I personally don’t see it.

Would like to see them get Nagelsmann.

We've matched the Ole/Ralf season with 12 league losses today

or one away rather. 11 today

Yeah, but have they accounted for the fact that Ten Hag has had to deal with some injuries? He can't be expected to set up a side to produce the free-flowing attacking football of a Sheffield United or a Burnley with so few resources available to him. Sitting on the edge of your own box and waiting for the inevitable was the right call.

Counter attacking with no one running behind or off the shoulder of the defender is novel to be fair.

Wanted to give him a chance after his good run in Jan/Feb but its beyond any doubt now hes not up for it.

The worst part is that he has burdened us with several shite players we have to sell with a big loss. Between that and no CL the next manager has an even bigger mountain to climb

Keep talking nonsense, buddy! But I know you will forever think Ole is awful no matter what.

Yep, as shite as all our other post-Fergie managers. Couldn't even win a cup despite it being served on a silver platter against a rag-tag Villareal side. Our standards are on the floor if you actually consider what he done as a good job.

He tried playing a single pivot with Eriksen and Bruno in midfield at the Etihad last season and City walked through our midfield and scored 6. Today was the best starting lineup he could've picked with the options available.

There is being outrageously naive and then there is being outrageously negative. ETH appears to have found both options and nothing at all in-between.

As an example Ole set up generally to defend deep and in numbers at the Etihad nothing wrong with that idea in in a tough away game but the huge difference was Ole had a genuine plan of how to get out and hurt City get past there press and break in numbers.

Today's plan was everyone behind the ball and hit it long and hope for the best. Non league standard of coaching that. And that might be doing a disservice to some non league coaches.

That performance alone should get Erik the sack. I don't even care about the defeat as it was to be expected but the way we lost is completely unacceptable. Utter embarassing. And yes, I was preparing to write this post even when we were leading 1-0-

The tactics today were nothing short of cowardly. There was no intent to attack. We just sat back and hoped for the best. Even when we got the ball we just passed it around until we punted the ball back to them.

I can accept many things (and God knows we United fans have during the past decade) but giving up against our rivals before the game has even started, is not worthy of a club of our stature. I don't want to see Erik in the dugout ever again. He has been given plenty of time and ressources but failed in the most basic aspect: implementing a clear style of play. If you can't do that, you don't belong at this club.

And yes, we have a terrible squad with plenty of deadwood, but better managers are able to play WAY better with substantially worse players. The excuses are up. Time to go.

Can’t believe INEOS will let ETH continue to let us deteriorate like this for another two months.

There’s more opportunity to train the team now over the last two months of the season than there will be in the summer, which will be dictated by the Euros, Copa American and our pre-season tour.

If you want to see a proper change for the beginning of next season, you need to start now.
Yep. If they know who they want and we can afford to do it then then they have to get their man in as soon as possible. We don't want another season starting with ready made excuses that he hasn't got the players he wants in time and hasn't had chance to train the squad.

The tactics we used today were the only ones we could've used in the absence of a serious goal threat on the other end. If you don't have a striker, your only hope is to defend and hope to nick a goal on the counter, which worked for the better part of the first hour.

I disagree, we didnt actually seem to have any tactics at all today and were only so defensive as City exploited our lack of any tactics or game plan and forced us to be.

Not having a striker isnt an excuse as Ole managed to win there with no striker.

Barely managed 20% possession. I hate that this is what we've come to. Nearly two years into his stint and we still can't beat a top team without playing like league one cowards. We usually don't even win by playing this way which makes it worse.

I'm sick of us going to the etihad and anfield and playing like cowards. When we were the best team in the world, Liverpool and City still came to Old Trafford to put up a fight. We seem to come out of the team bus waving white flags time and time again.

Please, whoever the next man is, please let him have the balls and talent to have us playing like a big team again.

This guy's era is well overdue to come to an end

Just heard an interview with him on the radio and he was talking like we'd won and seemed happy with the performance. He's deranged. He needs to go now!
