It’s not just that. Of course managers who oversee us playing like a team two divisions down against our rivals should be sacked but the club as a whole seems affected only by the results. Even executives overseeing consistently pathetic displays like we put out against Liverpool and City should have been sacked. Manchester United should not play this way - even if we win 1-0. The brand / tradition / stature of the club is being dragged through the mud.
 
Even Pochettino gave City a scare a few weeks ago. And we have a better squad than Chelsea

ETH is not the guy. Yes I am judging him on this game. Derby day. Teams like Palace and Everton show more fight at Etihad.
 
Letting Ten Hag finish this season will be a very questionable decision by INEOS. It's not just about final league position, you have to take the club's morale into account, and letting Ten Hag finish the season is just allowing club and supporters alike to wallow in our misery for the last eleven games. At least Ole as interim will lift up our spirits and have us playing some fun football to end this horrible season.
 
I’d rather we get someone in that will at least make the the team give it all in the next 2 games against Liverpool.
 
Ten Hag's response to us going 2-1 down was to take Garnacho and Mainoo off for Amrabat and Forson, it's just constant derpy behaviour with him. This season might be the worst ever for braindead activity.

In bold is unfortunately a large number of posters on this forum, particularly this thread, most of the posters calling to sack him often have such a shallow depth of thought that they can't even name a suggested replacement who would be available, and those that do have pretty shallow arguments for their suggestions (my favourite was earlier in the season when De Zerbi was flavour of the month, that he'd come in and just coach us better and make us a well oiled possession machine). Most just want to throw managers at the problem, which unfortunately isn't too dissimilar to how the club has been run for the past decade.

Fortunately the new football regime we're putting in place should hopefully lead to more planning and continuity, so if they do get rid of Ten Hag in the summer (which is looking fairly likely at the moment) we can be confident that some thought will go into his replacement at least.

That can happen to any team in the first 10 minutes at the Etihad. It wasn't like we crumbled after taking the lead either. Disappointing second half though.

We are definitely going backwards fast. Evans and Lindelof in that back four Vs the European Champions. Being honest I don't think either player would get a game for Leicester right now and they're in the championship.
 
Given the team we had out I didn't think it was as bad as it could have been although I hate that we've become a team that plays like plucky minnows against the top sides, he's certainly not the progressive manager looking to play exciting football that I and many others hoped he would be.

However my only real issue with him today was the substitutions. I appreciate the options are limited but Antony and Amrabat are absolutely hopeless and clearly were not good fits for what we needed today so why did they come on? It seemed like making changes for the sake of it because everyone knows that the two of them offer nothing and they were only going to make things easier for City.

Jesus. That really emphasises how low standards have fallen. I thought that season was as bad as it'd get. Think the players had literally given up when Rangnick took over. Yet there are still people making excuses for Ten Hag. Baffling
 
Would be sacked after the Liverpool game or once it's confirmed we can't get into top four.

Your stuff about whether he's the man to take us forward is completely irrelevant to this specific discussion, but again, you're clearly lacking comprehension if you can't see that there aren't many people (myself included) that are more than happy for him to get the boot, whether that's soon or at the end of the season. However, the reason they're happy for that to happen has nothing to do with his shit transfer record (which was the topic of discussion here, and that shouldn't have been his responsibility anyway), and a lot more to do with the other points you've raised. Points that are often ignored in favour of wailing incessantly about him signing Antony and Weghorst.

I'm actually more than happy to criticise Ten Hag for how little he's managed to get out of Antony, especially given that they'd worked together before. Similarly, I'm happy to criticise him for how often he expects Casemiro to cover half the pitch on his own, and even for how Mount appears completely unsuited for the role we apparently bought him to fill, even if we've not seen that much of him. Importantly, these critcisms can't be made without the caveat of how these players came to the club though, and that's a massive fecking caveat.

I'm not sure if you did and I can't be arsed going back to check, but people keep banging on about transfer fees, as if this is Football Manager and Ten Hag's the one sitting down negotiating these deals himself. The money spent has nothing to do with him whatsoever, even if some of the players were his recommendations. Simply put, the club shouldn't be giving him first choice of his own targets anyway, and even if they are, they certainly shouldn't be paying well over the odds for them, just because he wants them. Again, I don't care if he's sacked tonight (even though we won), but it's very hard to trust that the people who desperately want him gone now won't be equally as toxic with whoever replaces him, when they're constantly using stuff that's got feck all to do with him as a stick to beat him with.

We'll go around in circles on this and you're entitled to your opinion.

Talking about money spent, is another way of saying that the players he wanted aren't good enough. Whether the club spent £400 million or £40 million, the recruitment has been dire, and that's my point. I also don't accept that in this instance he just identifies a player, and then as negotiations unfold, doesn't get consulted on how they're going and what kind of fee is going to be needed given that they'll be working with a finite budget with numerous issues to address. To take Antony as an example, he was never worth what Ajax wanted. I refuse to accept that nobody went back to Ten Hag and asked "is he worth what we'll have to pay?". We understand he had a transfer veto, so he's evidently being consulted.

And as it goes, I see no point in sacking him now regardless. The executive structure needs sorting first and foremost.

There are no goal scorers in the side. Every game is going to be a struggle regardless who the manager is.

I know we don't have the quality but neither other 14-15 teams on the league yet we always set up as cowards on the Etihad and Anfield. I'm tired of this, we end up losing anyway but we manage to drag the prestige of the club along.

After being in the job 18 months and having spent close to £500m, now is probably the time for some criticism. The team is just as mentally weak as it was when he took over and we still can’t play football.
 
Some of the stats from this game are so embarrassing for a league 2 side let alone a club like United

Amrabat caused the last goal , Kambwala didn’t do anything as blatant as that.

Rashford scored 30 goals last season. Bruno has scored 20 goals in seasons gone by. Hojlund had a record breaking scoring run this calendar year.

That is not an excuse. Look at the teams who have scored more than us this season. It’s a joke. It’s 100% on coaching.

Maybe we should buy Rodri..
Put Rodri in this United team he won't complete more than 30 passes.. Its the setup and structure of the team which is toxic.

The guy got to a semi-final and blew a 3-0-lead at home and you're crowning him. Do you know how many average managers have gotten to Champions League semi-finals? Its hardly a major feat. Rudi Garcia has gotten to a CL semi. Stefano Pioli was in the CL semis last year. Roberto Di Matteo won the Champions League. Thomas Tuchel won the Champions League. So one CL semi-final run says precisely f*** all about the quality of a manager. But £400m to build a squad and 100 games will absolutely tell you about a mamager's level and we know for sure now that the guy is a grade A fraud.
