Rubbish, Ole was on the path to greatness the club just failed to give him what he asked for. He was going to turn Rice, McGinn and Longstaff into the next Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta.
I thought he was talking about people like you, who moan about everything from the players to the technical directors and blaming everyone except Ralf.

We were better against Pool but still you can see how much of a difference having a proper coach is making. Our attacks are actually structured and not just about moments of magic.

It's like Klopp's early days in Liverpool. He got Liverpool to play very good attacking football albeit inconsistent.

Keep going this direction we are on to something.

This the key takeaway so far. Early days, bears in the forest and all that, but after three years of dinosaur though at times brilliant play, we’re beginning to see modern football.

We're coming off the back of two monumentally shit managers but at least Ralf has the excuses of inheriting Ole's mess, having zero authority and not really being a manager in the first place.

Not sure what Ralf has to do with anything now though. Obviously when someone talks about a manager who cant coach for shit Ole is always going to be the first person anybody thinks of, that's his managerial legacy.

Don't know if you were one of the worst but some people blamed the players and said they were hopeless, they don't listen, are spoiled etc. All it took was a few weeks of work and they are a team again.

Felt like 75% of the forum was stating that.... all quiet now though of course.

So the club has now got him 3 out of his possible 5 targets. Hopefully Frenkie will be the 4th very soon and he can work his magic with the players and play the style he wants from the team. Exciting times

Pressing is the big thing. We pressed under Ralf for about 5-6 games and dominated the opposition because of it up until the hour mark then fell away. Keep that up for 90 minutes and we are on to something

We only pressured under ralf for the first 30 mins against palace from what I remember

This would be rather surprising.
You got McFred and De Jong if he comes. You just got McFred if he doesnt. We cant rely on them 2 and expect different results to last year. I think we will buy a couple of midfielders either FDJ and a cheap option, or 2 Mid priced midfielders. TH loves to give youngsters a chance and I think Iqbal and Savage will get a chance as well.

Funny how Ole spent 50m on AWB to loan out Dalot and then both Ralf and Ten Hag instantly bench/want to sell AWB and actually seem to like Dalot

While he wasn't great when I saw him, he seemed to have improved with Milan. So the loan probably helped him despite the fact that he wasn't a starter(If i'm not mistaken). That slight improvement was enough to create an actual competition with AWB which is a bit shocking but on this one Ole did well and poorly in equal measure.

Hannibal is a much bigger talent than either of them and I think Eriksen will play deeper. Then there is McTominay and Fred, as you say. Even so, it is easier to play under a top quality coach with a clear progressive system than it would have been for them last season under Rangnick. That is encouraging.

Talking about Hannibal is he injured? He hasnt had a game yet.

Na it was for a few games after that. Southampton at home was another one, we dominated them and should have been more than a goal up when we started fecking up

What's up with jackets in the middle of July.
Its winter there

It's winter in Australia

FYI @Samid

easy to look like this against zero comp. Our players can look like world beaters against League 2 sides and you could see one touch passing, players letting the ball run through their legs and all the tricks at that level. I'll judge between games 5-10 during the premier league to see if there has been any kind of change. these games are like training matches so its hard to guage. I remember early last season when we played wolves (must have been within first 3 matches) and I was taken aback by how ferociously they pressed us. Sancho had literally no time to even think and we could barely string passes together as the Wolves players like hunting us down like demons. I can only assess against that type of comp, in high stakes games that teams are trying to win

Strange indeed. I thought he could have played then, as he is a real talent. Maybe about to go on loan? Or EtH is not happy with his training effort
I'm really not sure. Fernandez and Shoretire were supposedly left at home because they will definitely be going out on loan. Yet ten Hag said earlier that he is assessing some of the young guys on tour to see if they can contribute right away, or whether they should head out on loan. Seems Hannibal is stuck in limbo a little bit.

Until we see how Ten Hag's United do in competitive matches, no conclusions about Ten Hag can be drawn yet. However, I am encouraged by the way the team is playing. His fingerprints have been all over how we build up and press.

I was one of those who didn't think the bulk of our players were capable of doing what he would want. Maybe, in real matches, they won't be. However, we have seen De Gea coming off his line and using his feet. We have seen Bruno being disciplined and measured in possession, we have seen fullbacks under and overlapping, we have seen Martial pressing hard.

Lots of players are showing signs that those of us who wrote them off may be wrong. Ten Hag has to take credit for that.

It is only preseason but the players seem to get the message. And I want him to be tough and play only in-form players

No, he has been available for both games. Curious though why he hasn't been given any minutes yet.
The fact that TH mentioned how impressed he was with Iqbal and surprised he hadnt played more for the first team, after the first weeks training has me thinking he might have jumped the queue with the youth players. Savage is a good long passer and maybe that has given him the edge as well.

Wait, they have winter in Australia?? I thought the only 2 seasons they had there was hot and feck me it's boiling hot?

We don't have to press full 90 mins, we press until we have 3 or 4-0 lead then we can afford to take our feet off the pedal. That's how Liverpool and City does it.

I understand being optimistic but some of you are fecking mental, holy shit.
