And that's the last we thing we need. No more messiahs who become cult leaders for our fanbase. I'd just hire and fire 3-4 managers in quick succession for the fun of it just to piss off/disenfranchise the majority of our fanbase, which will help move the club into the 21st century.
Even chelsea and real madrid have not fired 3-4 managers in quick succession. That will be even worse.

I do agree with the cult leaders thing though. We live too much in SAF era

I dont understand some of you critics. This game was supposed to be a big loss. It ended a draw wich easely couldv been a win. So Evans, Eriksen isnt the answer against a really good team, even if they also play a B selection. As a whole, Spurs found a new level. Martinez back made immediatly a much better display and we got them pressed back in their own half at the end of the game. I think Ten Hag has survived these last 4 or 5 weeks quite convincingly and we couldv had much worse results. Hojland is starting to deliver, Martinez back and we have a friendly fixture list until march. Unless we lose with some big numbers like vs Bournemouth I say lets see where this goes and get SJR produce the stuff we supposed to see last april/may.

Oh come on Bentancur over Bruno? Romero over Varane? Vicario has 12 games to his name

Ill give you the full backs and van de Ven but even then we brought Martinez on and thats another on our side the rest is bollocks

No chance Spurs missing all their best players had a better squad than us today.

Not squad. The starting XI.

Not better either. Just similar.

I'd rather have Van de Ven than Martinez personally. Pace and aerial ability key for the PL. But fair enough.

Your argument was that our team was 'miles' better than theirs on paper today. You're failing to back it up.

The problem with the whole "our/their team is better on paper" argument is that the game is played on grass. The other problem is that comparing players on an individual basis is just folly. That's not how football works. The reason why teams like Brighton have managed to surprise many over the last few years isn't down to the individual talent, it's down to the collective. It's down to the systems implemented, the coaching tactics, the endless passing drills that are no doubt done to death in training, the scouting network, the discipline shown by staff and players, and so on. Once you have those things in place, only then is it about going out and splurging tens of millions on the 'bigger and better/higher quality' players to improve individually in certain positions.

The problem for the last decade is that we have tried to do the last bit without every addressing any of those first points. The thing that disappoints me most this season (and for parts of last, at least the second half) is that we initially seemed to have finally understood the problem and were seeking to address it with EtH. But, we're really no closer. The football is worse than ever, the results are bad, the players don't really gel together all that well collectively and aren't performing well individually.

He keeps going on about being stronger when we get the key injuries back on the pitch… and I have defended ETH quite a lot but then I look at spurs and they have injuries and players missing but they still have an identity, they still rock up at OT and play better football than we do. There’s no more excuses. 2 years nearly and not a way of playing… that’s why he was brought here to bring a style. Got outplayed by a manager that’s been at spurs for halve a season.

It's a shite excuse. We got beat by Brighton with injuries, Palace with injuries, Newcastle B team, fecking Bournemouth should have trashed us but only 3-0, Forest were missing key players... he's a man of excuses. And what's worse, every single one of these teams didn't win on individual moments like we rely on, but through well implemented game plans, well drilled players, good structure and sound tactics.

It doesn't bother me as much these days as I'm confident that INEOS can see what we all see.

And he's talking shit about the atmosphere etc today. OT was a flat as a pancake. You could the supporters are over it now.

You’re picking players you’ve seen a handful of times over players like Varane who have been great for us. You’ve picked Bentancur who’s played 5 games all season over feckin Bruno. Get real

Van de Ven has played 11 games, you’re taking those appearances over Martinez who’s arguably been our best signing in years? come off it.

Recency bias at its best
You’re taking the bait against the Ten Hag cult mate. It’s simple:

24 goals scored in 21 PL matches
Finished last in a weak CL group
Consistently Conceding set piece and transition goals with poor defending
Failure to implement a style of play
Losing at home to teams like Bournemouth… badly.
11 first team players brought in with only Martinez looking decent. Paid 90m for perhaps our worst winger and former player

Any discussion injuries or club structure is just garbage / a red herring. Results are poor.

Regardless of your opinion on Ralf Rangnick, it does feel like a bit of a red flag in hindsight that he was suddenly axed completely and ETH was allowed free rein with Murtough.

It highlights the importance of having a good structure above the manager (something clearly nonexistent at United). Klopp wanted Julian Brandt at Liverpool. They told him no, bought Salah instead and the rest is history.
It wasn’t really . Ralf had called out a lot of the squad to the media and I presume players didn’t want him there. Can’t really blame ETH for not wanting him

Seems pretty consistent with what we see in the games: basically no midfield, two attacking 8s getting in the way of Hojlund and not enough width or support for wingers from the full backs. Disjointed in an attacking sense and a liability at the other end, leaving huge gaps for ball-carriers to exploit.

That is on Ten Hag; he's been persisting with this garbage all season. He needs to go.

We could not even penetrate a high line spurs in the second half. Before Hag came, we said, he can adjust mid game his style. I do t see it, we play the same way, the same players when available. As Einstein said, the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different result. This is exactly what's happening. Hag can blame not having the players he needs to play his well, but he needs to drill his style which should influence the signings needed. This dont happen, hopefully it changes. I'm all for one for Hag chance, but my patience is going.

Yeah, found that an utterly bizarre comment. The worse possible thing has happened with our home crowd… they’ve given up.
There was absolutely zero belief in that crowd in the second half that we could win that game.
No booing, little whinging, just apathy, like they couldn’t even be bothered to waste their energy gearing up that team despite seeing the comeback v villa and it’s because they know it’s done. They weren’t fooled by that comeback. Then again even Bruno wasn’t. Eth is done and this squad of his is done and the fans know it. Away days will take care of themselves with our following but I’d expect this to be the way at old Trafford going forward.

What is our style of play? I am not even sure anymore. Let us stop hiding behind injuries. We have been awful this season. Eth and players both have to be blamed for this mess.

We're at the same stage as when Moyes said that we needed to improve in some areas like attacking, defending, passing and scoring.

I presume if he showed Man Utd 1 to 83 too, or both teams 1 to 90 he'd have nothing to post.

I have little time for post which don't show like for like comparisons when trying to make a point. It moves from a point to an agenda.

It is like for like - both shows the full time the starting team played. United simply made changes earlier than Spurs, that's why there is a time difference.

What are they gonna do about it? Wait until the summer… our season is practically over now so if there thinking about doing any changes then now’s a good enough time as any. We know we always get a new manager bounce which could put us in a position to qualify for next seasons champions league and go on an FA cup run. If we’re thinking of getting rid of him but not till the summer than what is that achieving?

But it's so clear, our style of play is Survival Football also known as "maybe we get lucky with third of effort". Has been for years

It's the time of both first subs made. We made ours in the 60th and theirs in the 80th. So it is representative of the team that both managers put out and their initial game plan.

Not sure how anyone can be on Ten Hag's side after this. Guy made it clear with this sub Scott McTominay is his out of jail card. Is that the Man United our fans want ? A side whose key player is Scott McTominay ?

Tottenham had over 60% possession, double the chances, double the pass accuracy, double the corners, at home in old trafford despite having their 5 most creative players missing
And Eric Ten Hag comes out with, "that was a good performance "
He is deluded or an egomaniac or just dumb.

I'm far from in the Ten Hag cult, I think he's a disaster. Even got called a hater for pointing out our flaws long before everyone caught up.

But our squad is dross and our starting line up today is average at best.

Why does De Bruyne look like the guy from Home Alone. All that time off and he hasn’t had a fresh trim.
He looks like a homeless guy who was pushed through a shower and onto the pitch :)

For me, it is sackable. I don't care if I never see Ten Hag again, especially anyway connected with United

Agree with all of that, and yet - our squad is the highest paid (sum of all salaries) in the entire league. And by the way - that happend on Erik's watch. Most of the highest paid players got their contracts during Erik's time. People can say he doesn't negotiate salaries, but he is the manager and he had to realize where this was leading.

Until we fix the gap between the 6 and the other midfielders it’ll never improve. It doesn’t matter what players we play.

Nothing to do with the players, everything to do with the coaching.

Casemiro, Erikson, Mount and Bruno can't be coached to kick a football around efficiently?! Come off it.

Literally no point in going to get an Ajax coach if he was planning to abandon all principles. Terrible team he’s built. Tries to play a game of chance rather than control. His team makes too few passes. He regularly lines up with a midfield where two of his three midfielders (Fernandes and McTominay) have no fundamental midfield skills and are effectively strikers. He says we don’t have the players to pass and move despite him assembling this unit himself.

He has not shown that he can coach a side to consistently score goals at this level and I’ll say again what I said a few months ago, Solskjaer was better than this guy. And comfortably so in my opinion. He had us scoring goals at least, and going toe to toe with the best quite often - taking the game to them not just some braveheart effort either.

My position, although I have seen little to no encouragement at all, is that I will give Ten Hag until he has his squad available before I finally condemn him. But I am massively concerned. We are being caught and overtaken by too many teams and coaches in this league now. Too many are surpassing us, and instead of us trying to close the gap on one or two, we’re being left by 5 or 6. Coaches are coming in elsewhere and sorting their shit out in no time at all. This game of chance team he has created to almost certainly cater to Bruno and Rashford will not win big trophies. Any plan he thinks he has that involves Scott Mctominay playing in midfield for us will not win us trophies either.

Totally agree.

It's amazing how badly we are at scoring goals. At this point I will take a Kevin Keagan's Newcastle who will just aim to outscore you. At least it's exciting and entertaining. I have no idea what we are trying to do.

-5 goal diff, a goals total that is barely better than the relegation teams. -- after more than the season over

It still seems ironic that we are at our highest potency when we break fast and counter attack -- despite him bring in 11 new players and 400million quid. I don't buy the injuries excuse this late in the season.

Said it before but the damage is done in the summer(s).

McTom/Eriksen Bruno and an 18 year old is not a midfield.

Casemiro and Rashford's goals last season mask many fundamental issues. Going into this season we're one injury to Casemiro and being in the gutter and here we are. If you subscribe to Case is finished it's the same outcome/problem, the Case from last season is no longer here so we're left with a more knackered Eriksen. With Eriksen we saw last season he was good for 45. Now it's about 30 min once a month, McTom not midfielder no defensive or passing qualities, average attack mid. Bruno overused past his peak playmaker that needed reigning in long ago, no discipline or ability to keep or carry the ball.

It's no wonder we're getting outplayed.

ETH and the club should've been concentrating highly on midfield and removing McTom and Eriksen so we can compete and pass and not role the dice on Case. He wanted De Jong but there's lots of teams playing well without De Jong, alternatives should've sought. His initial instincts we're right but we've gone three sheets to the wind since that long chase for De Jong.

When he's gone we really need to fix the midfield and take a season out on the chin if needed, stop trying to fix things quickly with aging players or putting hope on expensive attackers like Sancho and Antony. Get better ball playing fullbacks. Once we have a good core we can utilize our attack. This kick and rush football has to stop.

We're just drifting towards nowhere but I reckon he survives until the end of the season.

I think so, he’s a lucky boy for me. The takeover means they won’t rush anything but he won’t be far off matching our Ole/Ragnick 58 point haul at this rate, and he just won’t have enough in the bank to survive that.

The football appears cowardly and has no resemblance to a team that will compete for top titles.

Shame this one but can’t see him turning it around here. Let’s hope the INEOS restructuring does a proper job of installing a manager next time.

He's proving to be an awful manager, getting to the extent where I just can't stand the idea of him making the full season.
