First PL game I've enjoyed this season. Hopefully he's turning things around but I'm not getting my hopes up until after Liverpool, West Ham and Villa.

We had far more control which was pleasing compared to the first half. Limited them to very little
Agreed with this, I really enjoyed the 1st half but the first half hour of the 2nd half was the most polished display of the season.

I'm still not convinced that the system we employ will work regularly but we were bloody fun to watch today which was really enjoyable and the manager deserves credit tonight for the team he picked and the way they played.

Spot on tonight. Well done, Erik! That team was playing for him there. So enjoyable to see every player running so much. A real shift from everyone in the team.

Definitely. We actually looked like we had a game plan and set out to methodically break them down and eventually got the reward.

Also, the HT change was good too. Impacted the game in a good way Reguilon coming on.

Agreed! So nice to enjoy watching us play like that. That’s the benchmark now.

Playing the players who can actually be arsed worked out pretty well.

It's never too late to turn it around, managers aren't players where they either have the ability or not (for the most part). It's about can they identify what the right tactics are, can they implement them.. so far he hasn't shown it, but today was a good performance for the first time in ages, but still had its weaknesses defensively. My bigger concerns have been being clueless in possession though so whenever we don't show that, I'm much happier.

What I do want to see, and the actual things that will win me back over and what is needed, is playing well against actual good teams. Chelsea are shit, let's be real. We need to show we aren't just being swatted aside in big away games, and we haven't done that in 18 months. Liverpool is the next big one, then west Ham. A good performance is absolutely vital, otherwise the odd good home game is worthless in the bigger picture.

Don't even care about Bayern and Bournemouth. We SHOULD be working like mad vs Bayern to have a chance, that shouldn't need extra motivation. Bournemouth we SHOULD be dominating. Anything other than an extreme effort performance vs Bayern and a dominant win vs Bournemouth is a failure, but it's the actual footballing performances in the week of Liverpool, West Ham and Villa which concerns me more.

When we barely scrap win while being crap and someone like you come and try to convince us we're doing well.

Today was fun though.
..are we not? 6 wins in 8 league games while having the manager and player of the month?
you run on here telling us how easily we should beat lower sides after wins bringing everything down while ignoring the constant, many examples every week of these same teams putting it right up our top 4 rivals
You’re on dubious grounds calling out others for not enjoying wins

He'd do himself a massive favour if he keeps starting those who work hard and show the right attitude, and permanently drop the lazy ones. That's the only way he'll have any chance of turning things around

Fair bloody play. All the right calls, right setup, was about a one sided a game as we've been on the better side of for a while.

Say what you want about his signings but they all love the hard yards.

By far and away the best performance of the season and possibly since the League Cup final. Hope he builds on that and has the guts to persist with the team, there will be pressure to reinstate Rashford into the team but it absolutely should not be done until he finds his form back.

He needs to keep playing the players that want to give it all in every game, we look like a completely different team when everyone is pulling in the same direction, regardless of whether we have our desired starting players on the pitch. He's given the stars more chances than they deserve, hopefully he sticks with this team going forward. I'd rather see Garnacho and co. miss some chances but work their arses off, there is a lot of potential there.

But he has lost the dressing room… so how on earth did we dominate that game??

Fair play he nailed it tonight. The tweaks at half time with Maguire and Amrabat to stop the transitions was really pleasing. Everybody looked up for it (shock horror when rashford and martial are out) correct subs made at the correct times. Delighted with that.

How the feck are we only 3 points behind city
I’d like to know that too. Yet they’re getting all the praise in the world. It’s funny because listening to the radio in work this morning and pep was saying how confident he was of getting a 4th title in a row…

He isnt saying it is amazing to beat this Chelsea. He says it shows that players arent 'downing tools' or that 'ETH lost the dressing room'. Claims that the experts on this site have been making. Most players are still willing to run for ETH and still want to play for him.
Whilst definitively stating after a win that the players are all behind the manager is any less ‘expert’?

Terms like ‘Most players are still willing to run for ETH and still want to play for him.’ will be used against you the next time we lose.

People have a really low opinion of players, them playing well tonight will be just as much to do with the vitriol they’ve received as being ‘willing to run for EtH’. People are reading far too much into each result.

I'm not talking about the result. I'm talking about the energy and passion that you saw from the players out there. Everyone was trying. That's not the mark of a team that has given up on the manager.
See below. . .

Our players don't down the tools anyway. As I said few weeks ago, I don't see lack of efforts on the pitch.

It's just the player either not being able to follow the instructions or they're straight up poor. You can blame our lack of intensity but that doesn't have anything to do with efforts.

We were terrible because we were terrible, not because of some conspiracy stuff people want to force on our players.
The trouble with tying a win to some spurious ‘it’s because they want to play for EtH’ is the second they lose then what? They don’t want to play for him?

That result tonight is just as much, if not more, about personal pride & beatable opposition as it is some salute to EtH. We won, be happy move on cause this team will play poorly again this season, that won’t mean they’re trying to get EtH the sack.

I have a good mood tonight and I don't want to ruin it by arguing with your tedious points. When we lose again we can have this argument.

Because City havent been good this season - they look worse than both Liverpool and Arsenal

Explicit praise there from McSauce directed at EtH in his post-match interview. Good to see that sort of public show of support, sends the right message.

Yeh MoM gives him that praise is a good sign. Hopefully we can build on this, can’t get over how good we were

He's lost a couple of chokers really.
There’s 1 person who’s a big problem in the dressing room and it’s Marcus Rashford. He’s worked under all the managers since LVG and theirs been leaks and unhappiness among the squad. When he’s not in the starting 11 we play as a team and look far much better in attack.
