TBH our fans have been impatient this whole window. Its literally June. The club has been trying to ensure the main transfer ( FDJ) goes through before getting the other transfers. Simple enough.

The issue with this window so far and the impatience surrounding it has come from Rangnick. He convinced our fans that we would get 8, 9, 10 players and that all the ones we did have already were poor, which was never the case. Our issue is that we have been poor in key positions, which has affected our ability to allow some of our better players perform consistently due to lack of support. These will be fixed this window. The midfield will be fixed, the right back position will be fixed. We will get an additional attacker.

The annoying things for me has been that fans are acting like this doesn't occur with every single team. City, Pool, Madrid and Bayern have had transfers go into late August, its not even July and people are giving up on next season. It's really wacky stuff

I don't understand the hype

I've mates texting me depressed saying we getting no one, no one wants to come, I'm asking them what theybl basing it on and he writing back in reading stuff...........

Obvs other factored have caused the madness, one being wee been shite for decade and disaster mismanagment from the board etc.........but getting stupid the constant negativity.....................people wetting the bed for the sake of it

The proof is all there. We never had a window where we signed more than 5 players under Fergie and I can't even remember a window under him where we signed more than 3 first team players.

United's transfer activities have always made headlines with lots of speculations, way more than any team in England for sure. This happened when we had Sir Alex and has consistently happened since he left. We are always linked to so many signings that we never actually have interest in, we have so many agents who want to link their clients to us too. These aren't leaks, these are fabrications from people who know United make headlines. Yet so many people will come and act like we got beat to transfers or were rejected by players

Bigger than all this for me is the annoying chirping about our lack of pull. We are United, we have always said no one is bigger than the club, both within and outside the club. If a player decides that we are not the move for him, that is his loss. We sell more merchandise, provide a fantastic fan base and good wages for players. We are also a historic club and doing well for us garners more glory than for most other clubs. Yes we've struggled to challenge for top honors lately, but we can get back there and we have the funds and the size to do it. It always comes off like our own fans are laughing at us and working against us to not feel left out by the overblown media narrative.

I reckon we might need a concrete pitch for our players to successfully pass the ball 5 yards.

He's going to be shocked at the amount of energy he'll need to coach this lots on how to pass the ball by 5yards.

If I could like your post I would

Spot on. We got so many fans these days driven by social media.............sign of the times to be honest across all areas

Get ready for "how can they play good now, they downed tools under previous managers" posts when few of our players start playing well under real coach.

Excellent post!

Passing has never been our problem. We have always created chances. Its the midfield's capability to hold possession and defend against teams with better midfield that forms the biggest problem. We have too many attacking minded players.

I am beginning to suspect ETH has identified De Jong as THE pivotal transfer around which all his other signings will revolve.

If we can get De Jong signed up, his blueprint for how he envisions re-inventing this United team can be implemented.

All the hand-wringing and media hype (nothing new there I suppose) about United's lack of transfer activity is a tad puzzling is it not?
Considering the general consensus that our previous UNPLANNED and scattergun approach to transfers has led to the disjointed and Frankenstein squad of underachievers we now have.

You cant have it both ways - it might be the club is actually getting its ducks properly in a row this time around.

Let's see what transpires after we do land De Jong

Even Fergie wasn’t perfect. His most famous signing, Cantona, was an opportune moment on the back of Leeds enquiring about Irwin, imagine IF Leeds hadn’t called. We might have stuck with Dublin, or signed hirst, Collymore or someone else. History may have been different.

remember when he sold Hughes, ince and kanchelskis in the same summer?

nowadays fans would be up in arms “selling them based on vibes!!” Imagine the stick for implementing the class of 92 and getting beaten by Villa now? We’d never hear the end of it

but many are frustrated precisely because of this. It’s the Sancho 2020 saga all over again. One would love to give the benefit of the doubt but we’ve seen this movie before.

First para is just a tad too much conjecture to make this point. Can appreciate the attempt at optimism but based on what we know it's easy to deduce this isn't likely to be the case. We already know Darwin Nunez would have been out first transfer if he didn't choose Liverpool. We also know ETH resumed early and wanted the deals done before report of preseason. Gating the entire summer business on one transfer goes against what has already played out. Timber as well could have been here before FDJ if not for LVG.

Most importantly putting a pause on other transfers till the one gets done would be a suicide strategy. The club isn't stupid, no transfer is guaranteed. It wont put all its eggs into the one basket that may never even matetialise. Can't say the growing concern isn't justified only to offer up conjecture that wouldn't just be illogical in its application but also one that would just make the club look even worse.

‘real’ coach or not, there’s no excusing the effort levels of the likes of Rashford last season.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day. Hopefully a real fresh start. Alot of pressure for a young manager.

Rashford is not the only player, anyways he deserves all the criticism he gets for his effort last season. I'm more interested to see how people will blame players in the next season if things goes well

But the entire football operation is run by different people now. Why is the mindset of the sins of the father?

I firmly believe social media is more harmful than useful in general, and instances like this show why.

I also realise the irony of posting this comment on a social (well sort of) forum.

Normally I would expect none will blame the players if things go well next season

I can only speak for myself, but if things go well, I’ll be happy, if a bit wary at the same time, given the false dawns we’ve experienced.

But the entire football operation is run by different people now. Why is the mindset of the sins of the father?
Because the Glazers still remain, and people are likely still suspicious of the influence they wield. Now those suspicions may well prove to be unfounded, but it’s hard to blame people for harbouring them.

Part of the fanbase, part of the media regarding us, is unhinged. Might be the small loud part, but in a Manchester United scale, it's still such an overwhelming amount of poisonous pressure that it will seep through to the club. I wonder when he'll realise.

Erik ten Hag's first two days of pre-season will be taken up with tests to measure fitness before the real work moves up a gear with regular double sessions.

Ten Hag will put his players through their paces with passing drills and exercises with the ball that will improve stamina as they work on their technique.

A source close to Erik ten Hag: “Ten Hag is all about training the brain. United’s players will do plenty of running - but they will run with the ball rather than just being asked to sprint up sand dunes.”

Erik ten Hag insists on all of his players eating together after training. Ten Hag feels that socializing at meal times helps to build a team spirit. [Mullock]

After all the bitchiness and cliques formed/kept last season, making them all eat together to bond is gonna go down like a lead balloon.

No colleagues should be mandated to eat or socialise together.

“Senior sources have said that the players are unhappy with the amount of brain training ETH has them doing, they feel they could be doing this work at home while also spending time on instagram”

FDJ - great signing, will hopefully make us tick. We just need 2/3 more players, bit of luck with injuries and we will be a shoe in for top 4 again. Hopefully the football and camaraderie majorly improves. I’m looking forward to seeing some outgoings too. Any day now…

I remember similar briefings when LVG joined about players eating lunch together, changes to the training ground (e.g. planting trees to block the wind), etc. Didn't seem to have much of an impact on results.
