It's seems everyone raging not much is getting leaked left and right and centre and are having tantrums about us not buying players in a 3 week holiday window where no one is training or even back at the club
I’m taking this as possibly a good thing: with Ed “All Publicity Is Good Publicity” Woodward gone, the club might at least be trying to go about its business in a more professional way.

It clearly is how they are doing it, but for some people they are deciding to spin it as same old same shite and hammering the club and whoever else they can, even see Hag getting stick. Wet wipes the lot of them

We will soon find out if Erik Ten Hag is another Pep or Klopp or just another dud overrated by the Football Hipsters of him being "another Pep or Klopp" that basically forced Manchester United to give him the job. As the club are so desperate to get a manager like that who can turn water into wine.

if Ten Hag was so desperate and took this job on workout guaranteed assurances he would get a £150M "warchest" to play with in terms of signing his own players, it's his own fault and he's dug his own grave. This squad needs mass surgery as Rangnick said upto 10 new signings over the next few windows. I was worried about Ten Hags press conference where he said this team finished second last season.. anyone who watched that season knows it was a freak season and half of the squad has since left on a free transfer anyway.. I'm worried he's told to get the best out of the players he's got which if he still accepted the job with no guarantees on having £150M to spend on new signings doesn't say a lot about him you couldn't imagine Klopp or Pep taking the job without assurances about budget.. the same players down-tools last season for both Ole and Rangnick.

I hope Ten Hag is a success, even though I wanted the higher profile Poch and I think he would be a better fit. But time will tell.

I don't want to hear excuses for Ten Hag if he's playing McFred, Maguire and Rashford every game if he has Donny, Gardner, Lindelof and Sancho/Diallo on the bench. He needs to manage the team his own way or quit the job if he feels he can't do that, as it will only damage his own reputation if he fails.

I saw players last season showing no effort in a Manchester Derby or against Liverpool away and home. That's unforgivable. And we are suppose to give the same players ANOTHER chance?! No way mate! We need a manager who will come into that dressing room, crack a few eggs and get rid of the wrong uns'. Double training sessions etc the lot from the start. No messing about.

We signed Ten Hag to bring that Ajax style of football to the club and Premier League. That high-line and high-press. So that's what I expect to see Manchester United doing next season (even if it takes awhile to implement it fully and there's a few mistakes with the players getting use to it I don't mind). A very distinctive style of player.

I'm excited! My expectations are not massive.. just to see Manchester United become a team like Brighton or Brentford for example.

I think that most people are anxious because they wanted ETH to start the pre-season with most of the signing sorted out so we can hit the ground running in August. We are two weeks away and it does not appear that we have even one imminent transfer coming in. It is unclear if our big name signing even wants to come to United, but his transfer seems to be holding the other back.

Admittedly, ETH's biggest hurdle will be actually getting the players to any semblance of team cohesion and style. Signings, while direly needed, are not the main issue we have.

ETH must have his full squad including new signings ready before pre season! He is coming with a new playing style and we have seen how hopeless the current lot is in understanding instructions.

Even GN on Twitter calling out for a quick action on signings!! This is a disaster irrespective of how some here think it’s only one week into transfer window.

Major signings have been done to show it can be done… Halland, Nunez, Tchouameni, Pogba etc!! We having same issues as we always had, terrible is the only word to describe current state!!

The issue here (Pogba hasn't even signed for anyone yet) is that those transfers either took time, are quite expensive or both. I'm sure we could offer 100mil for FDJ but that will leave us with no money and extremely dependent on offloading players.

Selling players depends on other teams; the new higher management, even if they are quite capable, still needs to operate within set budget. Nunez will cost 90-100 million, which i mental and I'm glad we did not pay those money.

While I may not like it, what will determine the quality of the deals in the summer is the outcome in terms of fees and salaries, not the swiftness in which they were carried out,

This might also be more like we have limited budget but many slots to fill so we want to get this right. But that said it makes me incredibly worried because of the state of this squad is so lacking in many areas that I feel we won't be able to get anything going until we get these players in. So it's a bit you damned if you do and you are damned if you don't.

3rd game against Liverpool.

It'll be interesting to see if we can play some decent football vs them that quickly instead of resorting to parking the bus as with Ole/Jose.

I don't think that's realistic. More likely it will be another drumming. He is walking into a completely dysfunctional squad. And so far it doesn't seem like he will have a productive preseason either. I don't envy the task. I'm saying this so people don't set themselves up for disappointment and draw conclusions based on the result.

i have my doubts if he'll survive the October run of fixtures. Based on the current squad, and the limited time he'd have had to implement his strategies, could struggle against all the top teams.

I’m not sure “clearly” is an adverb that can be used with any certainty regarding what’s going on at United :wenger: It seems more likely than the ridiculously extreme view the hardline negativists are taking though.

I believe that football fans (and journalists, to some extent) are stuck in the pre-Premier League era as regards the way transfers work. In those days a club, be it manager, board or scout, would identify a target and try to persuade them to join and their club to sell.

That was before the days of agents. These days the manager, board and scouts are all being bombarded by sales pitches. A well run club with a strong footballing vision will ignore most of them; a club run by Ed Woodward with a disorganised scouting system will get thoroughly taken advantage of.

I’m hopeful that United have made it clear to these people that things have changed, and from now on it’s going to be Don’t Call Us; We’ll Call You. Which would explain the relative lack of rumours.

Just to be clear here, you seriously think he might get sacked by the end of October?

Relax. He’s not going anywhere this is a long term project and we need to get rid of this quick fix mentality. He’ll need time to properly implement his philosophy and if the club has any sense they’ll give him it. We’re an absolute shit show at the moment and it will take at least 3 transfer windows to sort this mess out.

Sacked by October  .Christ sake.

lets say we start the season like we finished the last and end up in 12th end of october having won less than a third of our games...will the caf still be focused on the long term plan? personally, i think hes on a hiding to nothing as hes expected to be the second coming of pep but with a fraction of his budget and a pretty toxic dressing room, where not much will have changed. deckchairs may have been rearranged above him, but the glazers are still in charge and their attitude / approach soils most things.

were a shit show because of the approach of the owners over multiple transfer windows going back almost a decade. dont see where this sudden optimism comes from that they've changed their spots?

I agree with all of this.

I just think its a bit sad that we've got a guy who, I feel, with the right backing could make a Man Utd team that's properly competitive. However, we're not going to back him.

Looking at the fixture list that was put out today, you can already see everything you said happening. The Board throwing Ten Hag up to angry fans as a human sacrifice and going for Pochettino somewhere in the middle of next season. As if just changing the coach is going to transform players who have shown, over and over again, that they're not good enough.

Dr Strange can transform stuff from one thing into another and I reckon even he'd struggle under the Glazers.

The problem for us was not last season, it was the season before when we finished "2nd". Our true position should have been 3rd and way way behind City and "a-not-injured-LIVERPOOL". But because we finished 2nd, we started the season with a silly expectation that our NEXT STEP was to WIN the league. The summer signings added to the fuel. So we started out thinking we had a top 1/top 2 squad, when we actually had a top 4 squad managed by a rookie manager playing hit and run hail mary football. His previous league positions were padded by the hit & run football and if he had stuck to the same tactic we would have finished 3rd again comfortably.

But the false PL position last season and the expectation to win the title forced Ole to suddenly change his hit and run football to an expansive league winning one, the only problem is he was completely out of depth to play an organized expansive league winning football. Everything buckled under pressure. Ole crumbled, players broke down, fans got disillusioned.

No matter how I think about it, last season was a freak season. It felt we had the most disastrous season for decades, still for large parts we were in touching distance of 4th. I refuse to believe that our expectations are just to see us play good football or be a "Brighton/Brentford". Our squad is too good for that. With ETH, I would expect us to finish top 4 at the very least and compete with Tuchel's Chelsea. They are a cup team at best, reminds me of Liverpool under Rafa. Quality team but terribly inconsistent. We should be looking to finish above them, that should be our target.

We have cut out the right parts - Pogba was terrible for us, a bad attitude player who kept constantly looking out (and trust me I am not saying it because of "THAT"). Matic was quality but he was OLD. Its a wonder Mata was still our player. People saying we should have played him more are saying it only because the rest were crap and he had a decent run in the end. He hasn't been a Man Utd player for years. We need a creative mid and any half decent creative mid will be better than I am holier than thou Pog-donkey. Combine that with Fred and Scott's industry we have a solid midfield. our attack is fantastic. I still think we made a mistake signing CR7, but that's a mistake that was supposed to cost us only on the long run. For now he is a fantastic goal-scorer and we have pacy tricky wingers who need systems to guide them. Our defense individually are very good, definitely good enough to take us to top 4. In the right system all the defensive players can hold the line well. We can't play a highline like Liverpool with our lot. A creative RB will help, but AWB is a quality defender. If the system is right, he will shut out the right side well.

If we get a creative midfielder, we should be targeting top 4. As simple as that. ETH is a fantastic manager and I would prefer him over Poch, who is never going to take us to the next step. With Poch you can expect a guaranteed top 4 without a lot of luck in cups. With ETH its unknown, but I hope the ceiling is higher and at this point its the better choice for us. If we fail, we can switch to Poch, but not before gambling with ETH first.

The biggest reason for that was Ed Woodward and he’s no longer at the club. We now have a new CEO and director of football in place and they deserve a chance to prove themselves. People are having a shit fit because we haven’t sign anyone 6 days into the transfer window, now if the situation is the same come the start of pre season then I’ll start to worry but we’re weeks away from that yet.

That fixture list is absolutely brutal. We need to get him his signings in asap.

Unfortunately, when your squad is a mess with multiple positions to sort out, its hard to do business quickly, because deals are all so dependent on each other. Its easier if you're liverpool or city and only have 1 main position on the pitch to take care of.

The fixture is out. the Moancafe have found something to focus on.

Poor Ten Hag. your 'fans' are far more dangerous than your enemies!

wtf?!

I think the poster was implying that the season ahead we just need to see a better display of football as the bar has been set so low from the previous one.

I watched Brighton a few times last season and they played some great football under Potter. Attacking, exciting football (embarrassed even us) with a team that were playing cohesively and with desire. On a relatively small budget no less, one could assume Potter has a bit of technical prowess and knows how to set up his squad.

Of course United under Ten Hag long term will be striving for titles, but seeing the clesterfeck we’re currently in I’d be happy to see us play with the same tenacious and entertaining football Brighton did last season. The foundations for a title challenge in a few seasons start with me not wanting to turn my telly off before half time because we’re playing like utter w*nk.

I hope the lack of patience in the transfer window doesn't translate into a lack of patience in getting the team up to speed when the season commence.
