I swear I'll be patient. I don't expect anything other than a fight for top 4 next season, preferably playing positive, proactive football most of the time. But he won't do miracles.

In any case Keano would approve of all these appointments so far.

I do expect a positive reaction from the players Saturday.
Although you would think that, my expectations are that they'll still be feeling sorry for themselves. They would have known about this appointment last week you would imagine.

Has an exact start date been announced? I can figure out that it must be after this season, but a more precise date.

His first match will be a pre-season friendly against Liverpool on 12th July, so he will be in before then.

Hannibal playing is the beginning. I expect Garnacho will see game time Saturday too.
The fact is those players stealing a living will still want a life after United.
They have something to prove.

Though I cannot forgive them for what they did to Ralf and the club.
That mauling Tuesday was the last straw.

Welcome to the biggest club in the world, Erik ten Hag!

The first manager we've had since Sir Alex, who is current and at the top of his game playing the modern way. He will need time. Really hope he is successful.

I couldn't believe what I witnessed.

No spirit, no fight, nothing.

Not only have I never seen a set of our players do that on a pitch against our rivals, I don't think I have ever saw any other team be like that against their rivals.

It was a truly shocking attitude from the players. I am actually glad that the whole of the media are calling it as it is, and saying that the player's performance was simply dreadful and inexcusable.

I'm not sure why you're replying to me or what your point is.

I said the club was in a mess. I said it was rebuild situation. If on about "attitude", I meant on the pitch... as a season ticket holder, I never saw that team get walked over like this squad has been. Lose yes. Walked over and give up, no.

I might have misunterpreted you. You answered a post where Loon stated that we were in a worse position when Ferguson came than we are at this point. It appeared to me from your answer that you disagreed with that. If not, I bow my head.

I agree with you on the on-pitch attitude thing, whereas I think regarding the attitude as professional athletes, today’s squad are levels above, which is partly why Ferguson wanted a cultural reboot.

About capability, I think the players now are at a similar level ti the ones we had then. Which is borne out by the results they have produced under Atkinson/Solskjær.

Where I’m partly optimistic, is that the changes done around the structure of things at the club the past couple of years point to a more up to date way of thinking. The coming transfer window might be the first time we will see this in action, so let’s hope for the best.

I am here for the teardown and rebuild! I am dying to support a team of young and hungry players!

Here we go again.

The problem isn't the manager. These players won't put the work in for this guy either.
Half of these players are well on their way out, and those who don't want to put the shift in for this manager will be gone soon too.

Well over 50 years supporting the club and I have never seen anything like it.
We have been spanked before. But the players always gave their all.

These bunch are a reflection of what the owners are. Just living off the club.

With this change, perhaps we have learned.

I would still not expect miracles.

Lots of work to be done and I hope our fans give the man a chance.

Since there has been an official announcement I am sure United/Murtogh will have sent loads of files over to him to read up, zoom calls already etc

Im hopeful too. Just don’t want him to do a Moyes and turn up on July 1st without any prep work. Ten Hag seems to be the kind of man who would be as prepared as possible so don’t really see there being an issue.

Only 5 or 6??
I'd say 5 or 6 of the first XI pretty much, then all of the expiring contracts etc. Can't all be done in one summer but I'm relaxed as I trust the man we've got in charge now and think the new rumoured structure is promising.

As much as we would like that to happen, its highly unlikely that it will be a major revamp for next year. We are not getting a brand new squad as everyone seems to think. He has to work with most of this lot over the next two years and it will be a slow build if anything. I just hope that he is capable of doing it and gets the full support from the board. I was optimistic about all our previous appointments, but as they say, Fool me once, strike one, but fool me twice? strike three!!!

Lets see how this goes.

Only thing I expect from him is a dynamic and attractive brand of football and a clear path + vision of how and where he wants to take the club.

Depending on how many players the club is able to move on, Ten Hag probably deserves a get out of jail free card for the initial eighteen months.

As squad members next season, I'd like to see the following remain: De Gea, Telles, Varane, Lindelof, Fred, VdB, Rashford, Bruno, Sancho, Ronaldo, Elanga. Realistically both of Shaw, Dalot and Mctominay will remain, too. Other than that bring in some players to fit the system and the rest can be made up with youth.

Really do think we need to bring in 5 players minimum.

They'll be sent packing or banished to the bench then, simple as that.

Pretty certain that he'll be working with a much different squad over the next year
Managers don't pick the teams. You really think he will drop the poster boys and an 80m signing?

“Gaps” that need to be filled club again pressing ETH to go mainly with the staff already here. Sad, this is exactly why we are the most dysfunctional club in thw world

There's no chance the manager will have a say on the likes of Rashford and Maguire.

Welcome Erik, if you are half as good as our last Eric you will be a hero.
On a more serious note it has to be said that appointing Pep or Juergen wouldn’t improve our current lot. There needs to be a massive culture change in the club.

In the post SAF era, I was excited by LVG, Jose and Ralf's appointments.

Underwhelmed by Ole and down right devastated at Moyes.

This appointment definitely feels the most exciting of all, and for a club our size it does feel like the only way is up. I'm absolutely sure Erik will relish the opportunity he's been given.

Welcome, Mr Ten Hag!

Or they want to identify if anyone is worth keeping around to help because just firing everyone, like we did under Moyes, is potentially pretty stupid when you might have some knowledgeable people onboard. Why get rid of the Sports Psycologist Sacha Lense for example.

I think that's why this appointment is crucial and the reason why negotiations took time, ETH wants to have complete control of the players he wants to play for him and the club. If there are players who don't want to play for the manager and or the club- please close the door behind you.

It's only bad if it's a ploy to keep Phelan at the club who had his contract renewed not long ago.

If you look at the Ole thread when he was first appointed as permanent manager, the reactions from most posters here were eerily similar. Expectedly so as we are on a 14 game winning streak.

But I’m containing my excitement this time until I see a few positive results and promising incoming transfers.

I wasn't excited as I knew Ole has fail in EPL and manage a small Norwegian club. He hasn't clock enough the mileage to be success especially against the likes of Pep and Klopp. I am excited with ETH with RR, I hope there is a huge overhaul to everything from scouting, transfer to tactics. I think 3rd year will show if we made the right decision but I fully support 2 of them
