Ten Hag is going to be coming in fully aware of what he’s going to be confronted with in terms of playing staff and supporting structure.
Moyes was apparently shocked by how ramshackle United was behind the scenes. The complete lack of a transitional process was hardly his fault. Maybe if he’d started earlier and realised what was confronting him he would've been less inclined to clear out all the backroom staff?

This may well be true. But regardless of the circumstances, I can’t see how a manager can be criticised for taking a post-season break. He can’t just roll into the next day at a new club and just work two years consecutively.

I think he'll be a success. I mean, he's as modern as it gets, no? No one can complain that the club didn't hire a coach who plays modern football.

Good news.

Surprised though, with Gary Neville telling us ETH wouldn't fancy the job.

Here we go again.

The problem isn't the manager. These players won't put the work in for this guy either.

The most excited about the club I've been since SAF left.

Both for us appointing a proper coach at the right time, and the assurances he has reportedly demanded in order to take the job.

Understood, and it makes perfect sense, but was that not the same with Phelan, Carrick et al with Ole, can't undermine the managers decision as to coaching staff?
Yet no one gave Ole a free run on that one.

But nevermind, I'm just happy we have a manager with a clear and concise vision as to how football should be played.

Ole was given all the slack in the world.....

Oh I quite agree. And I don’t blame Moyes for taking a holiday; while I never wanted him as manager it obviously wasn’t remotely his fault that the transition was so badly planned.

They'll be sent packing or banished to the bench then, simple as that.

Pretty certain that he'll be working with a much different squad over the next year

Wanted Poch but absolutely no problems with ETH. First time in many years I'm looking forward to the start of next season. Only taken a decade.

So people want McLaren in on here but didn't want Mike Phelan/accused the club of 'mates FC' for every coach choice recently?

Some strange takes.
Was Phelan a coach? In SAF’s final years he seemed more an admin/HR manager. That’s not intended to belittle his role, which obviously was an important one.

If ETH wants McClaren then fine. If he’s being forced on him by the club then no.

The club seem to be heading in the right direction. But after so many years of failure, I’ll choose to remain cautiously optimistic and nothing else. Good luck to him, hope he brings back the United of old. Or even better, takes it to even greater heights.

Best of luck to him. I like his personality and the way he wants his team to play.

I truly hope he will be backed properly to do what he wants.

We were in such a bad shape that Ferguson stated to the board he needed time to rebuild the entire club from the ground up.

We were in such a shape that the best manager in history were in the relegation zone and twice ended on the bottom half of the table with the players you mention.

You mention attitude, when half the players then had disastrous attitude to alcohol, rehabilitation and fitness building.

There were big talents in the squad, yet they’d never been as high up the table as Solskjær got this lot only last season. Ferguson dispatched players like McGrath, Strachan and Whiteside despite their talents. Whiteside was unlucky with injuries but also unprofessional in his rehabilitation. McGrath was an alcoholic, and Strachan had too much of an ego for Fergusons taste. Regardless, they were in a state that made Ferguson rather spend six years rebuilding than try to reform this talented lot.
I'm not sure why you're replying to me or what your point is.

I said the club was in a mess. I said it was rebuild situation. If on about "attitude", I meant on the pitch... as a season ticket holder, I never saw that team get walked over like this squad has been. Lose yes. Walked over and give up, no.

Finally get my first choice as manager. Excited and cautious at the same time. Will take it on the chin if it doesnwork out, but truly hope it does.

imagine being the manager that turns this clubs around. That’s exactly why.

he will believe in himself, he will back himself.

The club wants Ten Hag to assess the current backroom staff..?

Weird isn’t it, the club want a manager to actually look at the options before firing a load of people. How bizarre, classy move would be to just wholesale fire everyone.

Isn't that what usually happens when you get managerial changes? Anyway, everyone Ralf brought with him is on a temporary deal. Who's going to be left in a month or so?

I just see this as a precursor to the club wanting to give Ten Hag 'time to assess the players', the club then failing to sell players everyone can see it needs to, the season starting with a manager who wants to press and a squad incapable of pressing.

Great news!
Very exciting appointment:devil:
Players must get on board the Hag train or feck off from the club.
Club must give him the assistants that he wants , dont force anybody on him.

Cant wait for next season.

Everyone can see that what McClaren has said is a truth that the players can't hide from any more, because they been exposed for what they are:
They are gutless and not up for any fight. They possess the horrendous trait of 'downing tools'.

We know it is all well and good McClaren saying it from the outside looking in, but now that McClaren will be part of the coaching staff, he ABSOLUTELY HAS TO address the toxicity within that squad of players.
