Also Rangnick was good with building squad on low transfer fee and wages, if anything it's a loss to Glazers. He always said he wants to sign players before their big contracts, so his methods was signing young players and then sell them for decent money. Not sure how sacking RR is win for Glazers.

No real United fans will ever like the Glazers for what they did in stealing the club -- but that's on the League for allowing the LBO to happen.
But fans lose credibility for blaming them for everything and without any thought involved. They are more like 'investors' and will not be active participants in running the club. They appoint people for that.

The idea we'll need two years just to make top four is ridiculous, 4th is most likely going to Tottenham and there's nothing grande about them.
Only City and Liverpool are untouchable short term, Chelsea are loosing Rudiger, Aspilicueta, Christensen, their attack is bang average and the take over hasn't even been completely sorted from what i know, so this transfer window could be difficult for them they could possibly take a step back.
Our squad isn't as bad as this season shows, so I expect a third or fourth place finish next season enough with the mediocrity.
Chelsea will bring in Top players this summer. In fact I would say they will be busiest in transfer market.

Everyone will get their business done before the season starts whilst we'll be sat here on deadline day hoping for atleast one signing and then we'll get ripped off.

Rinse and repeat x10.

I will keep seeing this comment.

Rinse and repeat.

All gets a bit boring doesn’t it!

Did that happen in any of the last 5 seasons?

interesting
We will never really know the ins and outs, but to be honest, the signs were there on RR. Initially we were waiting for the sea change and the full clear out sounded very promising but ultimately in this environment and the way United are usually destroyed by high transfer fees and wages we would have spent hAlf a billion on building a RR side that by all accounts may have shuffled up one or two spaces.

We have decided on going the Dutch way again much like we did with LVG, who whilst was boring and stale to watch would dominate most teams in possession and had great results against the rest of the top 4. Obviously ETH will be different and in actuality at odds with the old LVG style, if you read Glorious Revolution you get insight to that.

Ultimately we are making VERY positive changes and there is reason for optimism, but time will tell, couple of Bad results and there will be a very vocal minority spouting absolute nonsense.

Be interesting to see how he handles DVB. He's shown nothing so far in a United shirt, but maybe can capture some form back playing in a system which he had excelled in before.

Speaking of, who do you think will excel under him? I think Sancho, Fred, Varane and Shaw might get better under Ten Hag.

Curious how he handles Maguire as well. If he doesn't consider him a starter, isn't it better to sell such an expensive buy rather than bench him and rotate? I think he'll still fetch around 50M if we sell to Newcastle or someone.

You were more excited about Moyes and Ole?

Looking at the big picture yes. As time goes on we have got further and further away from the top clubs. The Glazers mismanagement is more detrimental than a good manager can overcome.

You can't outperform their bad running of the club. I still feel this is a case and that Ten Hags chances of success would have been increased had he kept Ralf at the club. Who would have backed him in changing the squad.

I feel that the board painted a bad picture of Ralf to Ten Hag in order for him not to want to work with him. With the club knowing Ralf would recommend a costly overhaul.

It's no coincidence Ten Hag started off by saying he feels he can get more out of the current squad. That's the club talking. Ten Hag is still in the phase of wanting to please the board. We've been here before.

He's not going to publicly slag the players.

Rangnick leaving was a mutual decision. Some of you have hyped him up to the heavens. We don't need Rangnick to build a good squad.

Strong clubs need strong people. The club wanted him moved on because he exposes their previous bad decision making and is forthright. Maybe we shouldve kept that guy on to keep players and the board honest.

he's not gonna come in and say otherwise because he has to work with them

this being the reason you're not excited is silly mate, it's literally the only possible thing he could say.. or do

he can add 3/4 names this summer and that's it

going scorched earth is not gonna work as was proved spectacularly by Rangnick

So the players that were a disgrace wearing the shirt this season get another go?

The players were a shitshow the same way they were under previous managers. The managers are not the problem.

What should he do, bin the entire squad?

You're the least excited cause he thinks he can get something out of the squad. That's what managers do, asses the squad, conclude which players they can work with and get something out of it along with incomers of course. This thing about the whole squad being shit is silly.

LVG, Jose, Ole all tried that surely?

The managers are not the problem anymore. I don't see how anyone can think changing the manager changes anything.

Yep, they do. What else could possibly happen in your eyes?

Can we stop this thing where we pretend it’s the same squad? Even next season we know at least 5 of the players are gone.

How many are even left from LVG? We still had Carrick and Rooney in those days for crying out loud.

It’s fecking depressing isn’t it? Can people not have a bit of optimism at least, especially with all the changes going on recently.
In fairness, can you blame people for being cynical after all the false dawns over the last 9 years?

you right . Here goes, Timber is a nailed on signing. If he is worried about being on the bench I can send him a sort compilation of this seasons matches and he will be on the first plane. Barca has to sell whether they like it or not so lets see who ETH wants. We are Man utd with a real manager so we will get the players in the squad we need. Remember ETH fought hard in champions league with mostly unknown players and Premier league supposed rejects. It going to be good we will play better football cause ETH will have a plan lets have positive thoughts. The players to do us a job are out there we need ETH and the right scouts to source them.

I get that but there’s been more changes at the club in the last few months than there has been since Sir Alex first walked through the door. We’ve finally hired a highly rated, progressive manager who is at the top of his game, we’ve finally got shot of Ed Woodward and replaced him with someone who on the face of it is willing to let football people make the footballing decisions.
We’re in the process of revamping our scouting network as well as making other structural changes behind the scenes. All of that gives us more reason for optimism than at any point in the last 9 years. Will it lead to success? Only time will tell but at least try and see the positives instead of writing it off before it’s even got going.

Theres about 8-10 players walking out the door this summer. What exactly is your problem?

I'd sign 6 starter level players to replace the 10 whose contracts are ending/being sold.

They didn't try to bin the entire squad nor is that possible. Of course just changing the manager doesn't help without transfers and players outgoing but people are living in a dream land if they think about 10, 15 players will leave.

I wonder what's going on in his mind , is he the type of maniac who thinks he could make us champions in the first year, or is he much more tempered on what he could achieve with this team in his first few years.

But they were not under previous manager.

AWB played under only Ole
Maguire only under Ole
Varane only under Ole
Shaw he played under all managers

Fred - barely played under Jose and most under Ole
McT - Same like Fred
Pogba - Played under Jose and Ole

Bruno - only under Ole
Rashford - played under all managers

Ronaldo - only under Ole.

Also most of the players didn't have shit season like they had in 2021-22. We need many signings for sure but players shouldn't be rated based on just their previous season, one of the reason why people somehow think Perisic was quality all the years.

Our biggest problem (on the pitch guys) was always manager, we went for either not good enough managers or managers who were way past their prime.

Maybe I read your post wrong and you were asking some sort of trick question to other poster.

Yeah sorry, I was just posting his own post back to him

Just read back a bit if you can be bothered, but I wouldn't waste any more time on this one

Yeah I read the conversation, that's why I added last line.

Looks like lot of people will be disappointed when transfer window closes. We won't be moving on 20 players to bring 20 players.

The trash players are gonna get another chance I am afraid

Watched this a couple times, and it's really all about Timber's composure and then at the end Mazraoui's stamina and pace. Alvarez arguably turns the wrong way early on so they have to go backwards when he might have been able to play it forward, and nobody else does anything that we can't replicate with say Fred in Alvarez' role (though without the ball he's not the shield Alvarez is obviously), De Gea as the keeper (I assume Pasveer?) Dalot in Mazraoui's maybe if he's coached well, Sancho in Antony's spot.

That's why I hope and think we'll sign Timber and have VDB in the Starting XI. Apart from Bruno and Sancho, there's nobody really on the team who screams "definitely a starting player for the next 5 years", so I think it makes sense to have some players who are used to playing this kind of style as opposed to teaching 11 players who aren't used to it.

Depends how many with quality we sign.
No it doesnt. We have Lingard, Matic, Grant, Pogba, Cavani, Mata all leaving. Henderson is likely to at least be loaned, Wan Bissaka and Baily put up for sale and Martial as reported by Luckhurst with 1 foot out the door.

So hes likely offloading 6-9 players here.

This article on his time at Milan is telling. A lot of starking similarities between his time here and there. Maybe he's not the Guru he sold himself to be?
https://www.acmilaninfo.com/the-true-reasons-why-ac-milan-pulled-the-plug-on-ralf-rangnick/

It seems like he never really got going there, so hard to tell. Reading that article, it feels like people in Milan covering their collective asses than anything negative about Rangnick (i.e., he demanded a lot of control, existing people in charge freaked out and threw a fit).

We know how he is infront of the media, so that's nothing new.

I suspect the story would be different had Pioli failed (he did fail at Inter, Lazio etc)

Enjoyed the RB (Mazraoui) -> CM (AM? Berghuis?) pass that beat the press for a little bit initially. Shades of Modric's pass in the CL final goal against Pool.

Don't think Dalot is capable of that and Bruno needs to be coached to make a run like that. Pretty sure VdB can but unsure about Bruno.

Only players get a clean slate even after downing tools.
