Erik Lamela

Spurs has the look of a side that's a good 10-15 points better than Arsenal.
That's stupid. Arsenal will get their act together soon and there will be little to choose between the sides. I can see one of the sides finishing 5 pointe above the other but 15 points is not happening.

Is Lamela best as winger or AM?

He started wide right when he first arrived at Roma, almost an inside forward. Moved more centrally under Andreazolli to great effect. Personally I think he is comfortable anywhere across the forward line.

Creates and scores goals. If Spurs grab him and Willian there is some serious service and support for Soldado.

Thanks. Yeah, it will be very interesting to follow Spurs without Bale and having signed Soldado, Willian, Paulinho and maybe Lamela.

Spurs will be much stronger then last season. Even ignoring the other signings, just the signings of willian and lamela if they lose bale make them much stronger then last season. Lamela has huge potential, moreso then bale does and he'll probably reach bales level at least in a few years.
Soldado
Willian lamela Lennon
Paulinho dembele

That's a very strong midfield and attack (switch the 3 attacking mids around if you want lamela on wing), only thing they lack is better players in defence but they aren't too bad there either, especially if coentrao comes.

Sandro for Lennon as how I think they'll go, 4-3-3.

I dont understand why Roma are selling all their good players. I thought they were building a good side last season and might be able to compete for the Serie A in a years time.

Didnt they put the entire squad except totti for sale
I can only presume money trouble
Lamella would be a great signing for spurs

Someone should go after pjanic, wouldn't want him to stay in the Italian league and he's more then good enough to play for a top prem team.

I think they are pulling off some fantastic deals. 5 good quality players in to replace a single player, albeit that he is fairly exceptional. Levy is definitely handling it better than in previous years where he would be left with no time to get anyone in.
Their owner has opened his war chest and allowed Levy some more money.

Looks like Lamela to Spurs is actually happening.

Spurs in for Willian and Lamela and Arsenal moving for Di Maria and Benzema.

feck life.

Liverpool never had a shot at getting this fella, but where the feck are all the CL clubs? He's one of the top rising stars in the game, and Spurs seem to have an open shot at getting him with no competition. It lacks any kind of sense.

His brother has all but revealed he's joining Tottenham over Twitter. All the responses are hurt Liverpool fans who thought they had a chance.

I already could no longer be bothered with following Serie A, so it would be great to have him in the Premiership. Roma have to be one of the most frustrating clubs in the world, such a waste of talent over the last five or so years. The need for continuity seems completely lost on management. If they still have to balance the books, it's down to poor squad & financial management - a constant, rapid turnover of ideas & personnel is expensive in both ways.

Spurs seem to really need that kind of player. They look an immensely capable side just lacking that constant threat in the final third that will keep Soldado involved in the game, it seemed pretty frustrating for him against Palace. First (& worthless) impression of Chadli was that while dynamic, his build-up play still looked kind of raw.

If Bale leaves, and this was Spurs only signing, I don't think they would be a great deal worse off - in the long term anyway. I think he has the potential to be similarly special, and perhaps in a way more suited to the more continental-style football we will see from the Premier League. Although I'm sure Bale's more simplistic (but effective) approach will always have a place.

They've done great business in other areas too, Willian has shown great promise in quite a lot of games I've seen him. Poor return it seems with his spell in Russia but I wouldn't be too concerned about that if I was a Spurs fan. Paulinho looked to be a very competent player with Brazil this summer - admittedly I haven't seen a great deal else of him, but I know I wouldn't have turned him down to join United. Include Soldado, who looks to be good enough technically and proficient in front of goal - jesus.

You would expect that last seasons additions (Holtby, Dembele, Lloris, Vertonhen, Sigurdsson), young players (Rose, Walker).

Great time to be a Spurs fan.

Doesn't excuse that Glaston bloke giving it the 'Big I Am' though.. smug prat :).

Spurs' fans must be fecking delighted with this transfer window even if Bale leaves.

Oh ffs, Spurs look like they're signing him. Excellent signing if it comes off.

Aye, they're talking about them both on the Spurs forum I read. It's not that far fetched either considering Sakho doesn't seem to be in favour over at PSG, he's been on the bench for the first two games. Alderweireld is being courted by Russian teams.

Sad to say but a move to Spurs would be perfect for him. The oil clubs are so happy to let quality youngsters rot in favour of instant results there's always killings to be made. And I reckon hed start.alongside Vertonghen and do a hell of a job.

He'd look even better next to Koscielny.

Must say i'm staggered Wenger isn't in for Alderweireld, like I was staggered he wasn't in for Capoue. But if Spurs do get hold of Lamela, then they'll only be a few signings shy of challenging for the title imo, they'll have assembled a very good side. Just need a quality backup striker and a CB/LB.

Must say, if I was Levy, i'd be throwing cash for Shaw to fill the LB void.

Official, signed for Spurs, here's a quick translation from the official statement:
The A. S. Rome S.p.A. announces that it has signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur for the FAC outright sale of the rights to the player Erik Lamela in the face of recognition of an amount of 30 million euro. The agreement also provides for the recognition of a variable amount, up to a maximum of 5 million euro for bonuses tied to the achievement of part of the Players and the English Club of certain athletic goals.

I'm absolutely astounded that no other club seems to have shown interest. Could be a major profit turner for Spurs when he reveals his Madrid dream in 2015.

Great signing for Spurs. Surprised they managed to get him really, I thought one of the top clubs around the world would have went for him (was hoping we would to be honest).
