English & Irish Cricket Summer 2018

Haven't had this much of a 'what the feck' moment in cricket in a long time.

Yeh. England well ahead of schedule
Should knock it off quite comfortably really, needing under 300 from 30 overs

Wtf are those orange England tops?

Is it a tribute to Irn-Bru??

Hales & Morgan gone!! Could have a game now...

Poor from England, stupid run out of Root
Even more stupid run out at the end of Rashid
Another example of why there should be more teams at the World Cup
Well done Scotland

What a win!! Incredible, great day for cricket. Associate nations can take pride, hopefully we will see more shocks in the future and ICC allowing more of them to play in the bigger tournaments.

Great game of cricket. Says a lot about the state of English cricket that even in the format that they are pretty decent at there's the nagging doubt that the team is one brain dead shot away from a collapse.

How does Sam Billings keep getting matches, I cannot think of a single good thing he has ever done in an England shirt, hope Buttler comes in for him on Wednesday or the Aussies will be laughing themselves to an easy win. Well played Scotland beating a very strong England team

Bit harsh on Billings
No excuses from England, should have won even without Stokes and Buttler.
Impressive from Bairstow, scoring his centuries in three ODIs in a row, had chance to smash Buttler’s 46ball record as well

Some nice words from Dale Steyn on Rory Burns:

"Rory Burns batted bloody nicely," Steyn told ESPNcricinfo. "He looked really good. I think he looks like a Test batsman. And I've opened the bowling to a lot of opening batters.

"When I blinked he was on 150, so he did it pretty quickly too. I always watch guys on the way they leave the ball and I thought he left the ball really well.

"It's always easy to come at the ball: you can nick one for four or hit it through the covers; it still says four in the scorebook. But I watch the way guys leave the ball and he left the ball with good intent. He watched it very carefully and, when the short ball came, he got out of the way or took it on."

Find it fascinating that Burns hasn't even warranted a Lions call-up so far in his career.

Some good news as a Derbyshire & England fan - disappointing result yesterday but the Falcons have signed Calum MacLeod for the T20 campaign. Hopefully he will pick up where he left off yesterday!

300 up, at the beginning of the 34th over, with just Roy out.

444 is the world record, which was England against Pakistan a couple of years back. Very much under threat.

Roy's 180 is England's highest individual score, so if Bairstow (currently 138) keeps going he should beat that and England's openers will have our two highest ever scores.

EDIT - Adding some more detail.

Never realized Trent Brigde was this small. England should get 500, 50 of 4 overs required.
