English & Irish Cricket Summer 2018

England fantastic again. 5-0 v Australia.

Wow. This ODI team is special. What an improvement since that infamous Bangladesh match.

When you think of the absolute state of the England ODI side in that last world cup.

We're so much better in the 3 years since it's incredible.

So, the real test for England is only a week away. Confident India can win the series but this will show us just how far England have come since the 2015 debacle.

I'm sure I'm setting them up for failure, but England's batting looks ridiculous in T20 cricket. Probably an argument that Root might not get into the side if everyone is fully fit.

Not sure he does on his batting alone, might get in as an all-rounder!

Australia should just go home at the interval.

They're shit. 64-3. Reckon they'll be bowled out soon.

Quite. It's hard to express how poor an effort this is though, because there really isn't anything wrong with the pitch and the boundaries are short. I really don't think 220 is that much above par. It's a 210 pitch in modern T20 cricket I think.

Good partnership here. Aussies (Finch) showing a bit of fight.

Probably too little too late, but shows you how chaseable this was if the Aussies hadn't starved Finch of the strike whilst slowly losing wickets.

Can’t have been many worse T20 performances than that of Kane Richardson, Dropped Roy, went for 0/59 and got a golden duck

Jos Buttler interviews are even worse than the days Anderson was terrified of other humans. He's just as boring but he makes it last longer.

In the most important sporting news of the day Worcestershire batted out for a lovely draw. Proper cricket

Clarke can’t be a million miles away from getting a call up, if Malan keeps disappointing with the bat, expect it be Clarke or Pope to get the nod

I've heard good things about Ross Whiteley. Do you reckon he's a future candidate for the one day team?

England against India at Old Trafford in a T20, if anyone's not aware.

England put in. 44-0 after four overs.

EDIT - India get Roy. 50-1 after five, now. Huge cheer for the wicket. Lots of Indians in, making for a really great atmosphere from the sound of it.

Two down. Kuldeep will be extremely difficult to play against. Butler looks in incredible form.

Brilliant bowling from the spinners. England can’t pick Kuldeep.

Great stuff from India.

At the risk of looking bitter, has this guy's action ever been questioned? Looks a bit suspect, to me, but then I'm not good at judging these things.

Have no idea. Still early in his career so it might come into question later, if it doesn't meet the regulations.

Nope. I need to rewatch his bowling to see what makes you say that. Haven't noticed anything untoward myself.

He is a gem, as is chahal. I think India are a much better technical team than England, and it will show. India cover more bases beyond just power hitting.

I'm increasingly thinking I'm just being weird because he's left arm wrist spin and it's unusual.

Tell me about Chahal.

Yup, just need to keep our composure in the tests.

How many are we playing? Think you've a good chance, if you get things right. We're pretty crap right now.

5 test matches starting in August (maybe late July).

As for Chahal, he isn't as good or as mysterious as Kuldeep. The latter has the advantage of being a left arm chinaman which makes him slightly more difficult to pick. I think, by the ODI series, you'll feel far more comfortable facing both. However, both are so much more effective than Jadeja and Ashwin the limited forms of the game. The latter two will feature in the tests, though.
