Oh right, that seems a bit crap.Umpires call - when less than half the ball is hitting the stumps, the decision stays with whatever the umpire called.

I like him. Looks a sparky cricketer. He'll do well on the flat pitches of Australia. How long for Pant, I wonder.. looks rubbish
His keeping is terrible. He caught some in the first match but his general keeping level is incredibly bad.I like him. Looks a sparky cricketer. He'll do well on the flat pitches of Australia.

India aren't very good at cricket are they?
Great day for England, apart from that ridiculous non-review on the lbw. Would be interesting to compare the percentage of successful reviews for Bairstow vs Buttler. Wouldn't be surprised if Buttler's was higher, he just seems a bit cooler and shrewder than Bairstow.
Also, why are we picking Rashid if Root won't bowl him? Don't see what he's done wrong to warrant being shunned. I know he's in the team to bowl short bursts but it seems Root just doesn't rate him. If that's the case they need to give the spot to someone else.

Hope that's the case. We'll need Rashid this winter so hopefully Root knows how to get the best out of him. As you say, his real value is cleaning up the tail. If he can do that every game he'll be worth his place in the side. Some talk about the Dukes ball being darker and the seam being more pronounced this year in county cricket. The trend this series is that the ball has only started moving after over 15 and then the ball has stayed in good condition to offer assistance through its entire life. In such conditions and with India having mostly right handers Rashid is not really needed until the tail comes in. I don't think it's a case of Root not rating him but Root having a good grasp of what his bowlers are good at and what the game situation dictates.
It's good captaincy to not feel like you're obliged to bowl someone just because they're in team. Kohli paid for over bowling Pandya and not adjusting to how Ashwin was bowling last test.
Hmmm... Takes India's best catcher out of the slips though doesn't it. And you'll need to grab those chances in Australia.Rahul with the gloves and batting at 6 is interesting if India want to look at Shaw opening.
Yeah i'll be cheering India as much as any India fan. Think they'll do it tbh. Can't be many harder places to keep than in England.
Especially if you aren't used to conditions.
I think Pant will thrive in Australia too, the ball won't be moving much there. Can see him smashing some big runs quickly.
I can't wait for the India in Australia series actually, should be very close.

Indian fans were hopeful before this series as well ...
We've lost far too many inner battles. We've fought very hard as we did in SA but we've been out played by England.
Guess they got Sri Lanka in mind with the line up, with Burns or Denly replacing CookGreat day for England, apart from that ridiculous non-review on the lbw. Kohli has been brilliant this series but fecking hell has he had some luck or what?
He’s making the most of his good fortune debut 50
He has the best average for any cricketer batting 8 or below in the last 5 years or something like that. The commentators mentioned it earlier.Jadeja's an interesting cricketer, should get more runs than he does in tests.

Just going off his test average being lower than his first-class average and Ashwin batting 6 more often than him. Obviously batting 8 brings an inherent risk of your average not looking so good because you have to hit out and get runs with the tail.
Hes a decent batsman. He scored an amazing 60 odd at Lords back in 2014 and failed for the rest of series.
Hes been brilliant yet again but this is a rare showing from him away from home - although he doesnt play much outside of India.
He's a very talented cricketer but India didn't really seem to want to pick him at any point this series until this test. Even when 2 spinners were picked it was Yadav ahead of him.
Hes a brilliant all round cricketer. Awesome athlete, super bowler but his batting is a little inconsistent. If he was a fast bowler, he'd be one of the best all rounders around.
You would have thought that out of Ashwin, Pandya and Jadeja though that Jadeja would be the one worth persisting with at 6.
