Been so shit ever since he hit someone in the nets.
Just tuned in to the game. What happened to England, I thought the pitch was meant to be ok for batting today?
Warner on for a century here.
He hasn't been that great since coming back. Even in this year's IPL he looked rusty even though he scored some good runs. Then in WC also he didn't look that great. He is much better than this and maybe it's only matter of time before we see the old ruthless Warner back.Is the time away from Test cricket what's affecting Warner so badly?
He's never been much good outside of Australia, especially in England, but he's never been this bad before.
@NinjaFletch said that yesterday would be the day we lost the Ashes. I'm going to stick my neck out and say it's today.
Agree. We'll probably bowl him until he drops though.Aye, he needs to look after himself.
The match and the ashes have gone. No point breaking his back now.
Even if Archer ripped through Australia again and we got them out for 100, that's a 212 run lead.
We aren't chasing 212 down.
England’s batting is a shambles, the top order is even more shite than those of the 80’s & 90’s. But who do they pick in Godsname at the top of the order? Desperate times call for desperate meassurea.

The top order of the 90s was much, much better than the one we have now. Atherton, Stewart, Hussain or Thorpe would walk into the current team. You don't mean...?!

Don't forget that every other team had at least one high-class bowler back then, so there was nowhere to hide. England had good batsmen - it's just that they were facing world-class opponents every time they took the field.
Even the Aussie batsmen of that era were only averaging early 40s, which shows how deflated the batting statistics were back then. If you want proof, here you go: Usman Khawaja averages the same as Mark Waugh.
This was a very astute observation last night. It does feel like Australia dodged a '60 all out' type of day. England will hope it doesn't nip as much and the pitch flattens out in the sun.
I mean... Aus have given wickets away as well. Couldn’t you say that if Aus batted sensibly when 2-130 odd that they’d have pissed the test too...?That wicket just brings it home, if they batted sensibly England would have pissed this test.

To be fair apart from Archer and Broad to some extent, your other bowlers have been poor. Woakes should be bowling better but he has been pretty poor this match.Yeah, it's a tricky pitch to be fair, but the England wickets were worse considering the overhead conditions Australia had to deal with. Australia rode their luck and it evened out over the innings, England were just rubbish.
I don't think Woakes is fit. Nor was in the last match. I doubt he'll play the next match. To be fair apart from Archer and Broad to some extent, your other bowlers have been poor. Woakes should be bowling better but he has been pretty poor this match.

What changes do you suggest? The batsman required don’t seem to exist right now.And I bet there still won't be wholesale changes.

Worth a try, but by no means guaranteed to offer any better - just another pie at the wall.Sibley, Vince in. Denly and Buttler out. Burns, Sibley, Vince, Root, Stokes, Roy, Bairstow, Woakes, Archer, Leach, Broad.

Think we need to move on don't we. Obviously Cook wouldn't come back but even if he was up for it, we need to start thinking about the future. No doubt. I'm just having a giggle at bringing Nas in in 2019.
It's actually a serious question whether you'd have Cook back, maybe with a couple of weeks to train up.
No I agree. Doesn't look himself at all. He's usually a quality bowler in English conditions.I don't think Woakes is fit. Nor was in the last match. I doubt he'll play the next match.
Pope looks like a good bet, given he's just scored a double-hundred for Surrey. Sibley as well. But yeah, after that you're getting a bit thin on the ground. What changes do you suggest? The batsman required don’t seem to exist right now.

Of course we could always put Sam Curran in the top order, as I've been droning on about for months.

Vince? You got to be kidding right?
